Wilfork fined for hit on Losman.
New England Patriots DT Vince Wilfork has been fined $12,500 by the NFL for a hit that was "late and low" on Bills QB J.P. Losman.
As we all know, the hit came on the first play of the game. Now, I don't know how anyone on this blog feels (though I can guess...), but the hit looked extremely dirty/intentional to me.
Here is the hit again in slow motion:
Now, Wilfork claims to have been trying to "brace himself for a fall." Whenever I'm falling, I generally don't stick out my elbow/forearm, I usually try to catch myself with my hand.
Wilfork has said he is trying to reach JP Losman through "friends" on the Bills, but Chris Brown of Buffalobills.com caught up with Roscoe Parrish (who went to the U with Wilfork), who said he hasn't been contacted.
JP has said he doesn't want an apology anyway. As you can read here (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=5321), Losman feels the hit was intentional and Wilfork deserved a heavier penalty.
One last ridiculous fact: Bills G Derrick Dockery was fined $5,000 for not having his chin strap buckled last week, Wilfork was fined just over double that for knocking out Buffalo's starting QB for a few games. Make sense? Not to me.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

I don't know
If it was unintentional, I think it's a good fine -- Wilfork and others need to be more careful about late hits on QBs, no matter the circumstances. If it was dirty, he's getting off easy -- he ought to be suspended for at least as long as JP is out.
But I'm just not sure if it was intentional or not.
