ready to run?
so it's been a couple of weeks since the thrashing at the hands of the arizona cardinals. so now it's time to look ahead to the san diego chargers. the heaviest thing weighing on my mind is aa dismal buffalo bills rushing attack...
is marshawn ready to roll?
is the offensive line ready to... i dunno.. maybe push people backwards?
can peters return to pro bowl form?
i think if the answers to these questions are yes, then san diego will faulter on the east coast once again. however if the bills continue to struggle with continuity on the offensive line then it could be a rough sunday for us. i personally billieve that trent edwards is gonna come out fired up and extremely effective (even playing just off a concussion). therefore i think that if we can hold the ball and sustain some drives with the run we should be in good shape.
defense is obviously gonna have to come up huge as well. lets face it we are playing a team that scores more points per game than any other nfl team. after a terrible performance in the dessert, i have to believe that donte whitner has been in the ear of his running mates. i think the D will come out and play inspired football in order to wash the taste of the dessert sand out of their mouths.
so what do ya think rumblers? lets hear ya!! GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Fowler vs Jamal Williams is going to be a MAJOR problem Sunday. If we can double him effectively, we should be able to have some run success. One on one, Fowler doesn’t stand a chance. We have to get the big guy blocked to have any sort of success between the tackles…..

Big Problem
Jamal Williams will own, big time, Fowler. So when Ron from NM does his notes from the line you can expect negative yardage on the A gaps for sure. Fowler is terrible and williams is pro bowl calibre.
We will be running primarily B and C gaps which may be effective.
Counters and misdirection plays will probably get blown up because of Fowlers inability to seal off that NT.
This is shaping up to be a bad loss 2 weeks in a row for Buffalo. I hope i’m wrong.

Don’t disagree with ya, obviously since you responded to me. I think we can double Williams often, but that will leave fewer blockers to handle SD’s MLB’s, which will make it tougher to get our backs to the second level. Considering we haven’t done that all season, I’m not sure it’ll hurt us. If we can get SOME push though, I like our ability to at least be mediocre running it this week. That will have to include more runs to the outside though.
If we can’t run, I don’t think that’ll hurt our chances at winning. We haven’t run it all year, so we’ve made due offensively. I think if we lose it’ll be our D’s fault…

we'll see
We will have no choice but to double down on him Williams. Glad Merriman is hurt thats for sure or this could get ugly.
This might be a good week for screen passes though. Something to try and keep them from going full go at Edwards.
Defense will definately have to step up this week. No question. if rivers gets on fire we’re in trouble. I think we have a good chance of keeping LT in check. Its sproles i’m worried about. We seem to have issues tackling little fast guys like him.

why would you assume we're going to lose?
The Chargers haven’t been able to run the ball effectively this year with an injured LT and their passing defense is wretched. As the fella from over at the San Diego blog pointed out their dead last or 2nd to last in pass defense because teams can exploit the short routes on them. That is perfect for Trent. Just watch. We’ll dump 8-12 yard passes for the early going and as they start to play up a bit more we’ll bomb one to evans for his 6th game in a row this year with a catch of over 30 yards.
McKelvin and Hardy - rookies of the year
that would be sweet
plus roscoe turning it loose on those short throws.
I assume we’re going to lose because they are probably the most talented team in the NFL, are possibly hitting their stride, while buffalo has gone in the complete opposite direction every game.
However, we are home after a bye. Plus the AZ loss should of lit a fire under their asses.
But its any given sunday in the NFL. But if i were picking….i’d go SD 34 Buff 17. i hope i’m wrong

I wouldn't say
we’ve gone in the complete opposite direction. We had 1-2 bad games well ok 3. But we came out with wins. Hey that same rams team beat the redskins last week. I think the Bills, being a young team just need to cool down a little bit and keep their focus. If were going in any opposite direction, its from where we were last year. LAst year every pass play I held my breath, this year I hold my breath for the running plays haha. I’ll be at the game on sunday so hopefully it will be a good one.
FYI
Melvin Fowler did not practice Thursday due to an elbow injury according to head coach Dick Jauron.
Maybe his arm will fall off.
Any chance Duke Preston does any better?
He played as a center in college. I’ve always been a little puzzled why the Bills insist on playing him at guard instead…
Get the Bills back to the big game!
is it possible to be worse?
I’m being serious. Fowler is a turnstyle.
I think Preston is an upgrade. It can’t hurt. Fowler grades out so low and kills a lot of plays.
Preson Would be an upgrade – IMO

It’s not that Preston plays guard instead of center. I would say he plays guard in addition to center. That’s just the way it is in the NFL, your backup lineman have to be versatile. What’s the point of having a backup center on your team that can’t play guard?
True
It’s just seems to me that the Bills have not given Duke many opportunities to prove himself at the Center position in the time he’s been here, which I don’t understand.
Looks like he might finally get a chance this Sunday, though. Fowler is questionable for the game with SD.
Get the Bills back to the big game!
