What could have been
I know it's kinda old news by now but, just consider what could have been this past trade deadline: McCargo to the Colts, and Tony Gonzales. Going by some of the reports I've seen, the Gonzales trade would have sent a 3rd rounder "and change" to the Chiefs, I'm not sure what "and change" is, but for arguments sake lets just say that it means a 7th rounder. Add the McCargo deal to that and think of it as one big trade.
Bills give: John McCargo, 3rd & 7th round picks in '09 draft.
Bills get: Tony Gonzalez, and 4th round pick in '09 draft.
Not a bad deal. I can't think of too many people who would complain about that.

I voted that it won’t have a negative impact, but I think I am just being nit-picky about the way the poll options are worded because the Bills would be a better team if they got Gonzo and the 4th for McCargo and the 3rd.
In other words, the lack of trade won’t have a negative impact. The trade would have had a positive impact.

Well, it won’t have a positive impact. With an unhappy McCargo in the locker room and losing out on a true threat in the passing game, I think it does have a negative impact on the team. However, it’s only a slight impact since it’s not like we LOST anything…

While I agree that a player of Gonzalez’s skills would be a perfect fit in Buffalo and unquestionably fills a hole that the team desperately needs filled, there is no point in speculating about Gonzalez anymore. He has made it quite clear that he will not play in Buffalo under any circumstances. There is no point whatsoever in trading for a player who does not want to play for your team. Right now he’s not worth a bag full of unwashed jockstraps to the Bills because he won’t put on the uni and play.

I was all ready to bust out the “Hey man, one of our MLB teams has been to an LDS in the last two years, and one of our teams hasn’t made the post-season” line. I guess I’ll save that for a date TBD.

well the Mets did make the NLCS in ’06. That was only 3 years ago.
Also, one of our hockey teams has won the cup in the last 25 years. (how sad is that?)

to kurupt, brian, and sieric....
What are you guys hearing about randy mcmichael, hes old, not very fast, but i think he would be an upgrade over mr. royal on passing downs. could he be got for "change’?

Well its too late now. The trade deadline has passed so a player would need to be released for the Bills to aquire him. More importantly, Randy McMichael broke his tibia and tore a muscle in his knee while being tackled a few weeks ago and is out for the season.

apparently we were minutes away from getting TG. ESPN just said that the deal was canceled in the final minutes before the deadline.

I think that was the deal between KC and Green Bay. GB had the paperwork written up and faxed it over for a third but 10 min b4 the deadline he changed his demand to a second.
