Edwards' right-hand man
This is a great article about Hamdan's friendship with Edwards, but very strange given JP is nowhere to be found in this story. I've thought all along that JP would finish the 2008-2009 season in Buffalo - his experience and abilities are too important in case anything happens to Edwards this season. Does anyone think the timing of this article means we might actually see the Bills trade Losman before the deadline? Buffalo has shown that they are all about team chemistry, and Losman can't be helping the team chemistry right now.

Man, I hope not...
I’ve never been a JP guy – I cringed when they picked him and was never impressed by him in college or the NFL.
That said, if some disaster befalls Trent, I think the Bills would be doing themselves a disservice to have Gibran Hamdan as Plan B. I just can’t imagine beating the Steelers or Chargers in January with Hamdan behind center. JP may be mediocre (my opinion – your mileage may vary), but at least you know what you’re going to get from him.
Hamdan is clearly a pretty talented guy. You don’t light up any league like he did in ‘06 without talent, I don’t care if it’s NFL Europa or the AIFA. He also seems like a good guy to have around the locker room, and if he can help Trent make necessary adjustments, that’s a bonus. But it seems like a bunch of risk without much potential reward to dump Losman now.

Jeesh, the Bills aren’t trading Losman. I don’t know why everyone still brings it up.
Why would we trade him? We have an unproven 3rd stringer and that’s all. Our starting QB has had injury concerns throughout his career, so an experienced Losman is much more valuable for the rest of this season than a 6th or 7th round future draft pick.
And most importantly, why would any team, in their right mind, trade FOR Losman? He’s going to be a FA at year end, why not wait until then to go after him if you want him? Losman’s proven to be a bust in the NFL and can’t read a D. I don’t know why any team would want to add Losman at this point in the season and why we would even bother trading him…

Never suggested it would be a good idea
I don’t think the Bills should trade Losman, but OBD has made some recent decisions that have been puzzlers that so far have turned out well (most notable example: Crowell).
I just thought this was an incredibly odd article to see this early in the season. It really leaves the impression of Losman as not just a lame duck, but an outsider on the team and among the QB corps – strange marketing if indeed they’ll need to rely on him in case of an Edwards injury.
Also, regarding other teams, there are plenty of GMs in the NFL who have shown incredibly bad sense, so I won’t rule out someone trying to trade for Losman if it appeared the Bills were interested.
