Time Warner dropping WIVB
So usually I am fairly on top of these things, but it did not realize that today was the day that Time Warner was going to drop WIVB, effective at midnight. I'm not sure if this means that CBS will be totally dropped or just the news network, but does anyone know for sure? I have a feeling this could greatly affect the way we watch of Bills here in Buffalo

thats stupid
Time Warner is sooooo stupid. Did anyone else realize that TV Guide channel is only on digital cable now? Which is the dumbest thing ever because it has a built in guide. DUH! Now channel 4? Thats stupid.
BuffaloBrewed – you shouldn’t have to worry though because don’t they have to show us the bills game because of regional rights? I think thats how it works – if they sell out they have to show the game, if not then they don’t. Just not sure on which channel it will be on.
Who ever is running that company needs to figure something else to do because customer satisfaction is obviously low on their list.

They'll get something done
The same thing has happened with Time Warner here in Columbus, OH a couple times in the past few years. The outage has never lasted more than a couple of days.
The network affiliates need cable carriage and both sides know it. The next sweeps period starts at the end of this month…it would be utter suicide for WIVB to not be available to cable subscribers. It would be almost as bad for them if this outage lasts any real length of time. The last thing they want is for their viewers to get used to watching somebody else’s newscasts right before sweeps.
Both sides are posturing at this point, trying to score PR points, but I wouldn’t panic.

Link
Will someone have a link to the game tomorrow? I thought I saw some of you guys watch the game over the web. I hope so, otherwise it’s rabbit ears, or watching the game in a bar, or crashing at someone’s house who has dish.
Time Warner and WIVB should be ashamed of themselves for this mess. Greedy bastards…

Thanks K...
I kind of figured as much. But it’s a tough decision as to whether to hold on and wait for that info, or make some other plans…
On a side note, I attended a going away party for a friend last nite, and as a result, am suffering a hangover the like’s I haven’t seen in quite some time. This whole situation is not making me feel any better at all.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the game is added to the site until right before kickoff.
I think this is the link: http://xssports.lhosting.info/. Either that, or maybe try this one as kickoff approaches http://www.justin.tv/xs_sports

Orange County? I’m an Ulster man myself. We’re practically neighbors!

I said this in the game thread...
…but I’ll repeat it here.
Time Warner could have garnered some support if they had shown another CBS affiliate that had the Bills-Cards game such as WROC in Rochester or KPHO in Phoenix instead of using the radio play-by-play with old highlight clips as they did. They didn’t bother. They didn’t care.
WIVB could have garnered some support if they had streamed the game on their website. They didn’t bother. They didn’t care.
Frankly, there is enough blame to go around on both sides for this fiasco. Both sides had the opportunity to impress their customer base and both sides decided instead that they’d rather anger us instead with their petty bickering. I think Time Warner should just pack up and leave the market and let it be taken over by a competent cable provider and I also think that CBS should look into yanking their affiliation with WIVB.
A plague on both their houses. They’re both responsible. They both should suffer the consequences of their actions.
