Venting Is Warranted, But Opportunity Is Still There

I'm as discusted as everyone else is. I think all of the DJ criticism is right on, but I'm most disappointed in the character of these men. Don't you think at some point they would rise up against this team that has humiliated them for so long. I find it appalling that they don't have the guts, determination, and outright anger necessary to run the ball better.

Having said all that (and I could go on a lot longer), the opportunity is still there if these guys have the guts to take it. They really should win the next three. If they do and get some mojo, then they have a reasonable chance to take 6 out of 7. It's hard to feel that way now, but the mindset changes a lot with a few wins.

If, on the other hand, they go further south and pack it in, then I am done with this regime. I don't care how long DJ has on his contract, if he loses this team then I'm done until he's gone. I was a praiser and supported his extension. I still think they can do it because the schedule is so favorable. But they have to fight. They look tired. Here's to hoping the Monday night game gets them going again.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

LOL

thats the most optimism i’ve heard all day……

but i still don’t think they will do it. I think they will continue to lose and probably wind up 7-9….again. fun

7-9 no WAY!!!!

Right now we are 5-4. Over the course of the next two weeks we have:
Browns at HOME
Kansas City
San Fran
By the end of that stretch we are 7-5 at worst, 8-4 at best.

Miami
Jets
Denver, who even the Bills could run against
Patriots
At worst the Bills lose 3 of those games which puts them at 8-8.

Say the best case scenario happens and the Bills get to 8-4 then go up to Toronto and beat the Dolphins before going to the NYJ. If they go into that game at 9-4 people are again talking about us with a first round bye. With the defenses we will be seeing over the next three weeks, Trent’s confidence should be high again going into the Dophins game. The defense should be healthy by then with Schoebel and Whitner back. That is optimism.

They still have a winning record and they still control their own destiny!!!! If they win out they have a first round bye. If they go 4-3 down the stretch they still have a shot at the playoffs as long as their wins are in the division (nobody from the West or North is going to get a wild card and the Colts are the only team I worry about in the South). They need to win their divisional games to knock those guys out of the playoff picture while pushing us in. That is what it comes down to. I know they can beat the Jets. I am pretty sure that with a healthy defense they beat the ’phins. Can they get over the Patriot hump is the biggest question.

really?

Don’t count out Cleveland. when was the last time Buffalo won a nationally televised game on monday or sunday night? we choke in those games time and time again.

KC will be a nail biter and could go either way.
SF we will probably beat.

then miami, jets, pats and denver. do you really think we will win any of those games. let alone all of them based upon success thus far this season.

remember, the teams that we have beat are horrible.
seattle 2-7
jax 4-5
oakland 2-7
st. louis 2-7
SD 4-5

our wins have been all smoke and mirrors.

we have not beat a .500 team let alone anyteam with a realistic shot of playoffs this year.

when looking at the glass objectively – i am not far off base at all

remember

i also said we would have at least a 3 game losing streak in the middle of the season around divisional play. i got bashed for that prediction.

when looking at it objectively and without emotion or from a “fans” perspective. you see we truly are not a good NFL football team, save for beating bottom-dwelers.

Can't Argue ...

but I’m giving these guys a shot to rally. I know it’s silly to put anything in the win column that easily, but I think it’s possible. They got on a roll early, they can do it again. I think a lot of blame is on the coach, but these guys are accountable for their own execution. Step up and be a man!!

Anything's possible

but what we’ve seen should give none of confidence that this team can take care of business. I have a feeling we beat Cleveland to get the hopes back up, only to see them crushed in KC.

Having a poorly coached team, that can’t run the ball, can’t rush the passer, is up and down throwing the ball, creates no turnovers and gets overpowered time and time again really doesn’t look capable of making a playoff push. Remember the last two years when we got to .500 or better in December only to crap the bed and finish out the season a combined 0-5? That’s the epitome of a weak-minded team….

"we have not beat a .500 team let alone anyteam with a realistic shot of playoffs this year"

Really? Because last I checked San Diego is one game out of first place in the AFC West.

This all comes down to confidence, and if the offense (I’m talking to you, Marshawn, Trent, AND Turk) can get enough of it before the tough games come again.

If we don't make the playoffs, who will?

You asked if I forgot about the Browns. I said the Bills will go 2-1 or 3-0 over the next three games. The only question I have is which Browns team shows up. The more they keep saying they quit on each other, the better for us come Monday. As for the Chiefs and Niners, they are not good teams and do not have good defenses.

I never said the team was elite but heading into the final four game stretch they will be confident after two or three wins, Whitner and Schobel will probably both be back and are sorely missed, Edwards will be back on the horse he has apparently fallen off, and they will control their own destiny.

We were right in not anointing early in the year. Remember Trent saying when they were 3-0 “Hey we could lose the next 13 and be 3-1” He was fat-headed there and won’t be in the dumps now. That’s Jauron’s even keel approach. I think “the sky is falling” mentality now is also premature. They have a winning record and control their own destiny!

AFC playoff teams:
AFC East Winner (Pats, Bills, JEts, Phins) [Did I really type ’phins there???]
AFC North WInner – Steelers
AFC South Winner – Titans
AFC West Winner – (who cares?)
Wild Cards: AFC East 2nd and 3rd place

No Ravens – they play the entire NFC East over the rest of the season
No Broncos – Not gonna happen
No Colts – Schedule too tough down the stretch

To quote Jimmy Buffet – “Come Monday, it’ll be all right…”

by MattRichWarren on Nov 11, 2008 3:33 PM EST reply actions

but how are we going to finish ahead of the Jets and Phins? They have pretty easy schedules too, and multiple division wins already. We have to sweep our last 3 division games to realistically have a shot, IMO. Or hope one of those two, or both, really fall apart….
