Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills, Nov 17, 2008 8:30 PM EST

Buffalo Bills (5-4) vs Cleveland Browns (3-6)

Keys to Victory :: Video Preview :: BUF Injuries :: CLE Injuries
Bills inactives: 17-Justin Jenkins, 25-Xavier Omon, 65-Jason Whittle, 77-Demetrius Bell, 82-Josh Reed, 94-Aaron Schobel, 97-John McCargo, 10–Gibran Hamdan - 3rd QB

This is it.  Monday Night Football.  The 5-4 Buffalo Bills have a golden opportunity to turn their season around - on a national stage, no less - when they take on the 3-6 Cleveland Browns in just under an hours' time.

I could re-iterate everything that's been said all week about the importance of this game; about what it means for the Bills to have a good showing tonight, and to emerge victorious.  But I don't have to.  This is beyond big, and every single one of you realizes it.

We'll dispense with pleasantries, then.  If you're looking to get into tonight's game, you've found the right place.  Grab your favorite snack and choice adult beverage.  This is Monday Night Football.  This, Bills fans, is the beginning of the rest of Buffalo's season.

LOVE IT

THE intro to MN Countdown was solid…….David Cook’s leave the “light on” was the theme….I think a perfect symbolism to the Bills’ season. DON’T TURN OFF THE LIGHTS ON THE BILLS…..

COME ON BUFFALO! PUMP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got my Bills Mug, a frosty adult beverage and Pizza on the way. I cannot wait for this one!

I hope DJ showed them the footage from last years MNF game.

And then told them that another game like that this season will end it. This is make or break time. Put up or shut up.

Actives

I don’t have my text from bb.com about that yet. I was hoping they would have McCargo active to use him against Jamal Lewis. He ran them over last year and in the Bills last three losses the same thing has happened.

Remarkably little Browns (esp. Brady Quinn) coverage on Monday Night Countdown.

When the game starts, don’t expect the booth guys to get all over Brady Quinn. Tirico went to Syracuse with the guy from Channel 8 and Kornheiser is an upstate guy. Although, to quote Wilbon, he slurps Notre Dame all the time.

Just got the text. Nice timing.

No Josh Reed either. That will hurt Trent. Apparently Hardy is playing, though. Good?

Janelle Winslow Biography

As a biography, we do not have much information on Janelle Winslow. She has been married to Cleveland Browns tight end NFL player Kellen Winslow since June 15, 2006. The couple first met in middle school.

Janelle Winslow is her husband’s childhood sweetheart. When the couple finally decided to get married they didn’t tell anyone about their wedding plans. All together they had asked 20 family members and friends to join them for a get together on this special weekend.

When their loved ones had arrived, they surprised them with the news. Janelle and Kellen Winslow were holding the wedding services at their suburban home in Cleveland. In an interview Janelle Winslow’s husband Kellen said:

by MonStarr_716 on Nov 17, 2008 7:41 PM EST reply actions

I like Tom & Ditka...

Keep Emmit far away from me and Keyshawn too. Suzy can stay. I don’t have a problem with Merill Hoge all the time but he’s no Steve Young. Oh yeah, Cris Carter is God awful. Why can’t they have Trent Dilfer on this show too? Gimmie Jaws any day, too. Tirico does fine I think. I kinda like tony Kornheiser on PTI but not on MNF.

by MattRichWarren on Nov 17, 2008 7:42 PM EST reply actions

ugghhh…Emmit and Shannon sharp have to be the worst announcers on t.v. and Suzy can spend the night. Steve & Jaws are awesome..Tony annoys the hell outta me on MNF….It’s just an all day Farve slurp fest with him on there….and I guarantee he’ll be spooning with Quinn tonight

The Bills beat Denver

I think it was the year of our first SP, by scoring something like 3 TDs in 90 secs. Up to that point, the Cows were favorites to go to the SB, after that game, their season tanked big time. I think Schlereth played on that team.

If it’s Whitner vs Winslow, there could be serious problems for our D. He can’t handle mediocre TE’s, I can’t imagine he’ll be able to handle one of the more athletic ones.

~K

by Kurupt on Nov 17, 2008 7:55 PM EST up reply actions

Bryan Scott, you mean?

He did alright against Gates, not great, but not poorly. With Quinn’s focus on the short stuff, it’ll be a bigger challenge today, IMO, even though Gates was the better player….

the Bills are Canadian, at least partly. I think we get them by default but we also claim Alex Trebek and Peter Jennings

Hope so Goodell:

Q: How much a part will tradition and history play in the awarding of the Bills as a franchise to a new owner or will it strictly come down to economics?

RG: I think tradition and history is very important. I think the passion of the fans is important. But it ultimately comes down to can the team continue to be successful here and I believe it can because of the passion of our fans in this region and I think the steps the Bills are taking to regionalize the team and broadening the interest in the team and hopefully will attract more people to support the Bills.

I was happy when the Bills were off to such a great start; Buffalo’s been a lot like Cleveland the past several years in the sense that we just can’t get over that hump to go from being an average-record team to a playoff-record team. Hopefully Buffalo can get back into the AFC East race…not including tonight’s game, of course ;)

They just got to get something going on offense and get some confidence. They all look afraid to mess up. Especially Edwards on that last series.

by fletcherjd on Nov 17, 2008 9:04 PM EST up reply actions

I agree. Just saying they somehow need something positive to happen on offense.

by fletcherjd on Nov 17, 2008 9:05 PM EST up reply actions

Preston’s problems aside, this slow start is on Edwards.

by Ron From NM on Nov 17, 2008 9:05 PM EST up reply actions

True, but if Turk doesn’t give up on the running game and they can get it going a little, Trent will have a chance to not have to throw against 8 guys in coverage.

This good feeling...I forgot it existed...

John Madden told me 90% of the game was half-mental...

by TheK-GunNeedsReloaded on Nov 17, 2008 9:41 PM EST reply actions

Man, not to beat a dead horse, but the same players with some decent play-calling can move the ball.

by fletcherjd on Nov 17, 2008 9:41 PM EST reply actions

Maybe...

We should let freddy get us to the 20 and then Marshawn can finish

by MonStarr_716 on Nov 17, 2008 9:42 PM EST reply actions

or get Lynch into space some more

it’s been a long time coming, we need more of that…..heck a bubble screen with him would probably go for 50 yards or something if we got blockers out front

~K

by Kurupt on Nov 17, 2008 9:43 PM EST up reply actions

yeah....

but Lynch also need to remeber that the yards only count if you run north to south

by MonStarr_716 on Nov 17, 2008 9:44 PM EST up reply actions

Still say some of it is play-calling. If everybody knows if it is a pass or a run, it makes it harder to block. Not saying they don’t deserve blame, just not all the blame.

by fletcherjd on Nov 17, 2008 9:46 PM EST up reply actions

that is true

friendly reminder to Marshawn: north-south is effective

~K

by Kurupt on Nov 17, 2008 9:45 PM EST up reply actions

I was beginning to think I’d never see a Bills offensive TD on Monday Night Football ever again

Yes he is.

The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.

by sireric on Nov 17, 2008 9:43 PM EST up reply actions

Time to ride Freddy and Lynch..........

until it doesnt work anymore…….then ride something else.

Miss you Kotch......Love you Trent

by norcaliangelsfan on Nov 17, 2008 9:42 PM EST reply actions

I’m praying that this is a sign of things to come. If Trent can come back to life after his 3 week and most of a day slumber, we have a shot

by Hopefulcynic on Nov 17, 2008 9:43 PM EST reply actions

It's a long accepted fact

We have the beastiest kicker and punter in the league. Well, other than Janikowski, but that’s just because he’s a cow.

John Madden told me 90% of the game was half-mental...

by TheK-GunNeedsReloaded on Nov 17, 2008 9:44 PM EST up reply actions

That touchback was HUGE, a big return from Cribbs would have been killer to the crowd and momentum
