Looked like Buffalo sent 6 and the Browns had 6 to block.

by fletcherjd on Nov 17, 2008 10:19 PM EST up reply actions

Could you imagine if our OL had to block 6???

Hit the hole Marshawn….it was there if you just hit it!

~K

by Kurupt on Nov 17, 2008 10:21 PM EST reply actions

That is another reason I think the OL sometimes gets a bad wrap. Between the obvious play-calling and Marshawn not taking what is there, the OL looks really bad at times. Now, maybe a good chunk of it is their own fault, but at least some of it goes to the play-calling and the RB.

by fletcherjd on Nov 17, 2008 10:23 PM EST up reply actions

kind of true

getting blown off the ball is not on play calling or the RB

by Joe P. on Nov 17, 2008 10:24 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed, but once again, when the DL knows whether to pass rush or play the run before the snap, it makes it easier on them and harder on the OL.

by fletcherjd on Nov 17, 2008 10:26 PM EST up reply actions

lets go turk........

Jabari Greer – hope it’s just for the game.

Don’t challenge, he fumbled it.

by fletcherjd on Nov 17, 2008 10:27 PM EST up reply actions

he ain't gonna win that

unless Jackson was down on the first effort….he definitely wasn’t when he fumbled

~K

by Kurupt on Nov 17, 2008 10:27 PM EST up reply actions

yeah....

but those are the ones he challenges….the ones we can’t win….

by MonStarr_716 on Nov 17, 2008 10:28 PM EST up reply actions

Not really a dumb play...

Nice play by the D. That happens some times…

by SebastianPruiti on Nov 17, 2008 10:27 PM EST up reply actions

When you are down in traffic

fighting for more yards with one hand on the ball is DUMB!!!!!!!

by Joe P. on Nov 17, 2008 10:28 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, it sucks, but at least that one was not due to bad decision-making, just bad luck on good effort. They were moving the ball, so that is something.

Good point. As poor as the offense has played these last four games, they have been in all of them amazingly. While the D is not a dominating unit, it does keep them in games, even with all the turnovers.

by fletcherjd on Nov 17, 2008 10:41 PM EST up reply actions

Seriously, when the play-calling is decent (running against soft fronts, pounding the football, not in shotgun every play), they can move the ball.

by fletcherjd on Nov 17, 2008 10:48 PM EST reply actions

wow Preston destroyed….again…..all Freddie there to get 2 yards….

by Ron From NM on Nov 17, 2008 10:50 PM EST reply actions

clutch time

In clutch the guys in the trenches on both sides of the ball are letting us down. Last few games getting the clock run out on us and our O line not being able to get three yards

Good overall run numbers...

Lynch 4.0
Jackson 5.5

Just need them to pick up those first downs….

~K

by Kurupt on Nov 17, 2008 10:53 PM EST reply actions

Big Cal/Marshawn fan here

I haven’t been able to catch much of the Buffalo games out here in CA, but it seems like the Bills are now utilizing his pass-catching and checkdown abilities. This was his huge, huge strength in college (he never dropped anything and almost always made the first guys miss in the open field).

He has always danced too much. In college, he’d turn those into 50yd TDs though… he needs to learn he can’t do that in the NFL. I’m surprised the coaches haven’t gotten into his head about it.

Go Bills!

...nuh nuh nuh gone

OK, so we've been opposites right?

1st & third quarter were supposed to be the Browns time
2nd & 4th Bills time, right?

by MattRichWarren on Nov 17, 2008 10:56 PM EST reply actions

That completion to Edwards was thanks to McGee’s soft coverage again….

~K

by Kurupt on Nov 17, 2008 10:58 PM EST reply actions

Swing passes getting dangerous

More than one has looked like a backwards pass. That’s great if Lynch is setting up a pass, not so good if the ball goes out of bounds or is dropped and picked up by an alter Brown defender

by Ron From NM on Nov 17, 2008 10:58 PM EST reply actions

So, been watching was so mad, decided to spare you all my rage

1- McGee is letting all other teams have career days
2- DJ and Turk have been calling the game scared, we are praying the Browns screw up, and they just burned us on a long play.
3- Our team is not playing to win, and I blame the staff entirely for that
4- Btw, who else thinks that was Brian in the Wookie costume?

Is it too early to call for another Leodis McKelvin return?

If I am the Browns I kick it out of bounds at the 42 yard line just to be better than the Bills

I’d line Leodis up at the 30 here, put Freddie Jackson deep. I bet they do the popup kick.

~K

Still have time to run the ball. Need lots of Lynch and Freddie. And maybe a deep PA pass.

Turk has managed to destroy Edwards’ confidence. His piss poor play-calling the last 3+ games has put Trent in bad situations and has destroyed his confidence. Trent has not played well and has made bad decisions, but I blame Turk’s horrible play-calling. Now Trent won’t pull the trigger.

by fletcherjd on Nov 17, 2008 11:25 PM EST up reply actions

If he was trying to protect him, he would have been running the ball. Like Cleveland does with Quinn and Baltimore does with Flacco and Atlanta does with Ryan.

I question the sanity of the three runs, rather than trying to get another first down and a shorter kick. Or if you’re going to run it, center the damn ball, don’t put it on the hash.

Gotta throw the ball at least once to get closer. With Lindell, under 40 automatic, over 40 into the wind, iffy. Didn’t play to win. I think I am finally on the anti-Jauron bandwagon.

Another bad coaching job

Blowing that timeout on the 1st and goal really cost them. I don’t know what was more nauseating, Mike Tireco rubbing salt into our wounds calling the missed FG ‘wide right’ or the new heir apparent media darling that Quinn is going to become.
I’m sick of Jauron coaching scared all the time.
The positives are the run was actually working (Butler back helps?), and McKelvin had an amazing game! But with the run working, very little play action passing. Is our recievers that bad that they could not get open on this lousy Cleveland secondary. Is Reed that important that Trent looks like a below average QB without him. It was pathetic, the OL gave him lots of time and he looked like a deer in the headlights and another checkdown. Predictable offense again. I feel like we will never turn the corner with Jauron at the helm because he aways coaches to the level of the competition.
This is really frustrating being a Bills fan!!!!!!!!!

It doesn’t matter. This team is going nowhere and will continue going nowhere under this leadership. We’ll finish our usual 7-9 or maybe even get crazy and finish at 8-8, and we’ll get another offseason of hope and overrated moves, only to be crushed again next year. At least we know what’s coming. The toss out of the endzone

was a good example of 70% more in the defensive secondary than receivers.

by NJBill on Nov 18, 2008 12:31 AM EST up reply actions

Then why don’t other teams do that all the time, because a good team will pick them apart. Face it we are in a huge funk with no apparent light at the end of the tunnel.
Trent has zero confidence and he need to find it, Cleveland does not have a good secondary and if they had any timing they should have been able to pick them apart

by grenoire on Nov 18, 2008 12:33 AM EST up reply actions

Yes, our WR’s just don’t get open. Every time they showed the overhead view, they were all well-covered and doing nothing to get open. Once the first look wasn’t there, it sure seemed like they just stood there instead of working to get open for Trent. Of course, dropping 7-8 into coverage doesn’t help, and neither does never throwing deep.

~K

by Kurupt on Nov 18, 2008 12:32 AM EST up reply actions

The deep ball was needed...

..and anticipating the routes…something that rubber-armed Pennington schooled us on weeks ago.

by NJBill on Nov 18, 2008 12:35 AM EST up reply actions

Don’t count on it continuing. The Browns are terrible against the run and we know Turk won’t want to continue doing something that works.

~K

by Kurupt on Nov 18, 2008 12:38 AM EST up reply actions

Is Parish/Hardy just that bad at route running?

With their skills they should be getting more thrown their way. Its just so frustrating, we obviously need Reed back badly.

by grenoire on Nov 18, 2008 12:36 AM EST up reply actions

Edwards timing was off. If he’s not suffering from post-concussive syndrome, he should be.

by Zumone on Nov 18, 2008 12:38 AM EST up reply actions

Hardy was rarely out there tonight

It was Evans, Parrish and Johnson in 3 WR sets. Hardy sure looks like a big old bust to me. He is so slow and just can’t get open. Not to mention the fact that he doesn’t play to his 6’5" height.

At least Johnson seems like he will be a solid contributor for us going forward….

by Kurupt on Nov 18, 2008 12:38 AM EST up reply actions

i just

cannot express how dire the need for a PASS catching TE is. I don’t think people understand how much that would help this team. Trent is in dire need of a big target getting open

MARVelous

by MARVelous on Nov 18, 2008 12:39 AM EST up reply actions

but if the QB refuses to throw it downfield and none of these guys can get open, how will a pass catching TE help? he’ll just be another guy who can’t get open in this offense. how pathetic is it that we have nobody ever open, but no matter who we play, there’s guys always running open across the middle and along the sideline?

Wasted effort by Lynch and the D

I fell asleep from 10:30 to 11:15 because the team was so catatonic up to that point, so I missed that no namer’s TD and McKelvin’s.

I, for one, was impressed with Fewell’s play calling – whether it worked or not all the time, it was welcomed.

Cornhole, Jaws, and Tirico really didn’t have to mention “wide right.” The kick was doomed from that point on.

I want to see players mad, ready to explode – something needs to happen, because what currently is taking place, doesn’t work.

For once, Trent’s interview sounded like he was upset at the play calling.

If you’re going to run the wildcat, shouldn’t it look more wild, less similar each time?
