Thoughts on Wide Right 2.01

Theres nothing like a monday night game when your team is playing.  Getting to go through sunday, waiting for that primetime matchup where your team is front and center.  As Bills fans, we got to feel that for the first time this season.  The amount of excitement that was building up in me from the 7PM start of Monday Night Countdown to the beginning of the oh so famous Monday Night football song with Hank Williams was palpable.  I would have killed to be there in Buffalo, but unfortunately its a 6 hour ride from North Jersey.  When I sat down, beer in hand, nachos in the oven, and saw Edwards pass get picked off, an all so familiar feeling came back.  "Wow, Buffalo really knows how to collectively stomp on their fans nuts."

Like most of you guys, I was very irritated/frustrated after Lindell missed that kick.  But honestly, even in my gut, I felt that if Lindell were to make that kick, that the Browns had enough in them to drive down the field with 40 seconds left after a Cribbs return and put another one through the uprights.  There is just such a lack of confidence that comes along with being a Bills fan and its almost sickening.  After a few more beers and alot of deep breaths (also not watching sportscenter because of the pain of watching the replays), I started to realize that the Bills were lucky to even be in that situation due to turnovers.  The Browns really should have won that game by 17 points.  Marshawn, as I pushed for in my other post, finally got the ball although I can't tell you how many times I almost kicked in my TV screen when Edwards would breifly look down field and just dump it off to Marshawn.  It seemed like he wasn't even interested in going down field after those 3 interceptions.  Edwards will be fine, but he just seemed completely shell shocked.

Besides Edwards lack of looking down field, another complaint was Jauron on the last drive.  I dont think he coached that terrible of a game, but you just can't be satisfied with a 47 yarder into the swirling winds.  You can't run the ball 3 times, when Cleveland is calling those timeouts to preserve the clock.  The conservative play at the end really cost us.  Why not throw another seam to Royal or a little out route to S. Johnson.  I just didn't get it.  And when the announcers kept mentioning the Wide Right kick as Lindell walked up, I knew it wasnt going in.  Its just a feeling, like I said before, that you just have no confidence in the Bills.  You root your heart out, but it really just never ends in a positive way.  But hey, if we win the next two very winnable games, we still have a chance...

KEEP YOUR HEADS UP PEOPLE, WE'LL BE FINE

Rant

I haven’t had a chance to rant so i’m going to:

5 wasted time outs?? really? i’m asking…still…in the NFL..DJ…how many wasted time outs have you had because you suck at your job (i’m serious, any coach can do what he does…let me ask you what makes him a better coach than another coach? because i can’t think of s***. He coaches scared, doesn’t have his players prepared, has ZERO emotion (throw a f**** clipboard or something), doesnt’ know when or how to challenge, no gametime management decisions and probably the worst in the ENTIRE NFL at gameday decisions)

Is it possible that there is a more unprepared team in the NFL for game day decisions? Take for instance if a questionable call on a catch is made or something like that – GET THE DAMN LINE TO THE BALL AND SNAP A QUICK RUN.

DJ is so passive a catholic priest would ask him to take more chances.

Someone needed to get into Edwards face and get him mad or something. I realize you just threw 3 picks, but checking down the whole entire game will not win it for you. Come back from that…whats possibly coudl get worse..you already threw 3 picks…just say f*** it and play for the win

3 runs at the end was just pathetic. plan and simple. pathetic

for the first time in my lifetime i truly do not give a s*** about this team or the rest of this season. i bleed red white and blue only to get my hopes smashed every single year. it is the same thing. nothing has or ever will change. this team is at a minimum 2-3 years away…heard that before? because everyone knows we will never have an easier schedule than we had this year. you know it and i know it.

weeks ago it seemed like KC, CLE and SF were gimme games….i’m not sure we’ll win any save for SF because of weather and time zone. KC is coming on and we just plan stink

just sickening, pathetic and i probably won’t even watch the game on sunday. even if edwards throws for 500yds and 6 tds.. won’t get me to the playoffs. see all you guys at draft time. because thats the only thing coming up that can actually make a difference on this team….safe for a coaching and front office change

One point on which we fully agree

The easy schedule this year was truly the biggest opportunity.

Any broadcast from Orchard Park (especially on MNF) is contractually obligated to show or mention four things: snow, chicken wings, Niagara Falls, and “Wide Right”.
