Finish with the best record in the AFC East and still miss the play-offs?
Obviously we all want the Bills to start winning, and if we can win our next 4 including 2 against AFC East opponents we'll be right back in the playoff picture. But if that happens and you predict all other wins and loses simply based on current records alone, the AFC EAST is absolutely FUBAR .

This would mean the Bills would enter the final week 9-6 with only one loss at Denver.
Assume that Miami and the Jets lose this week and again to the Bills; they are most likely to win every other game until they face each other the final week.
Finally if the Patriots beat the Dolphins, they should win out except for a loss to the 7-3 Steelers.
Thus the AFC East in the final week of the regular season will be:
9-6 Miami @ 10-5 Jets (2-3 vs 3-2 in the division)
and
10-5 Patriots @ 9-6 Bills (3-2 vs 2-3 in the division)
If the Bills and Miami win, every team in the AFC East would have equal overall and division records; good luck figuring out the tie-breaker.
Of course the least likely thing to happen in this scenario is the Bills finishing 5-1.

well....
they wouldn’t have the best record….they would be tied for the best record. then obviously tie breakers decide everything.
i will say this…..on a positive note….but extremely unlikely….if the bills do end up tied for the best record in the AFC east and win all 3 remaining divisional games then they would win the division. the reason is even if they go 3-3 in the division..the last victory outcome of hte most recent game is the tie breaker winner in that situation.
again…they have to win football games…in the NFL…with Dick “cherio chaps” Jauron leading this stinkfest

When did Dick Jauron become British? He grew up in Boston, though he wasn’t born there. He definitely wasn’t born in England, though.

Oh, I know where it’s from – I read that “article”. Easterbrook was loving Jauron earlier this year. Alas, Easterbrook has always been a moron.

Uh huh, and earlier this year you said there was “no way this team is going to go on a 4-game losing streak.”

And earlier this year, there was no evidence to support what, at that time, was a radical claim. The difference is, I haven’t turned on Jauron after said 4-game losing streak; Easterbrook has, because Easterbrook is dumb.

But there was evidence
The extremely slow starts on offense. The fact that the Bills were having to come from behind in the 4th Q to beat injury-riddled, mediocre-at-best teams.
Yes, the 0-4 claim was bold, but it was not lacking in evidence.
