The rumors you've heard about the Chiefs are true.
Yes, we have lost 18 of our last 19 games.
Yes, we are giving up over 400 offensive yards a game.
No, we don't anticipate it will get better anytime soon.
Fire away and I'll send Chiefs fans your way.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

How’s Dorsey at DT working out?
Is he a beast in there like we all thought pre draft?
by J2 on Nov 19, 2008 2:19 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Well
DTs take plenty of time to develop and Dorsey is evidence of that. He did just notch his first sack of the season, though.
Of all our concerns, Dorsey worries us least. He has tremendous upside and we’re looking forward to seeing that come to fruition sometime next season.

Beaasse Mowe
1st, Marshawn Lynch is the PARADE’s favorite NFL player currently (undisputedly among non-Chiefs).
2nd, “beast” would be overly complementary at this point, among Chiefs fans and reporters the word ‘bust’ is strictly verboten at this point (part in due to our last d-line first rounder: Ryan Simms, never heard of him? We wish we hadn’t either). However, there is consensus he’s developing, he finally got a sack, and while Whitlock hates his footwork, he may be a ‘beast’ once(if) he acclimates to the NFL by next season, but for now we’ll go with “large water dwelling mammal.”

Best fake football team name in my league...
Marshawn’s Ghostride.
Hands down the best grill in the league. Much love for a fellow PAC10 baller.

Dorsey's stats
are strikingly similar to Warren Sapps in his first season. Is it indicating he’s the next Warren Sapp? No, but Dorsey is holding his own. He’s made more tackles than Sapp has at this stage in his career, but a few sacks less than where Sapp was. He’s not a beast yet, but he is as good or better than his supporting cast on the D-line, which at the start of the season he was the only rookie. The way I see it, he is progressing ahead of schedule from what people would expect.
He won’t be a pro-bowler this year, but look at who he’s playing for and who he has around him.

What has changed with Tyler Thigpen???
At first all I heard about him was that he would never be a good NFL QB and now lately all I keep hearing is how great the guy is……
Was there some kind of change in offensive philosophy that helped make him better or more comfortable and thus helped him be more successful. Thanks.
Disappointment proves that expectations were mistaken.......ladies and gentlemen your 2008 Buffalo Bills.....

Yeah there was an offensive scheme change
We now run as familiar to a college spread as you’ll see in the NFL. Thigpen can handle that well. His college stats aren’t much to look at but his only good year came from the spread offense at Coastal Carolina (and when you hear people say he’s a “record setting college QB”, just sit back and crack a smile because the football program is only 5 years old).
Thigpen’s in the shotgun a whole lot and last week we saw the emergence of the “pistol” which is Thigpen in a short shotgun and LJ behind him.
The spread is designed to get rid of the ball quicker which is necessary with our offensive line. I like it for us, so far, as we’ve had a TON of success with it the past month (even though we, you know, lost all 4 of those games).
by Joel Thorman on Nov 19, 2008 2:33 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
The rumor on Thigpen...
Is that he went on an Indian peyote vision quest. He went into the desert as an undrafted, underachieving QB out of some school that you’ve never heard of. After three days of fighting his innermost demons under the hot Sonoron sun, Thigpen emerged from the desert, not as an undrafted QB, but as a legend.

Hey!
Are you insulting the Bills? Or is it just a coincidence that the guy receiving is Brian Moorman’s body with Dick Jauron’s head?

For that to be Brian Moorman
Sean Taylor would have to be piercing his midsection.

Is the Chiefs offense more potent without running back Larry Johnson? It seems like in his absence, when Thigpen opened up the passing game you discovered you had a QB who could pass and another playmaker in Mark Bradley.
Kawika Mitchell is a leader. He will help this young team develop.
by poz on Nov 19, 2008 2:29 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
It's lookin that way...
LJ still sparkles but rarely shines for a whole game these days. Besides his injury & suspension, his biggest downside has been a lack of (desire to) pass block. He did manage one last game, but with this new spread scheme taking one more blocker out is a really dumb move.

Run Defense
How has your run defense been to date? Are you concerned about Lynch’s ability to break tackles or does your team tackle well where that shouldn’t be an issue?
by J2 on Nov 19, 2008 3:01 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Run Defense
Our Run Defense is one of the worst in the league. I cannot say that we are a great tackling team, but I think the bigger problem stems from an inability to ensure that our players are in the right position. We are a very young and inexperienced team that has been recently devastated by injuries. As a result we seem to have a new starting linebacker core every week. Therefore, we usually have people in the wrong position. However, as our offense has improved in the last month, so has our run defense. But that is mainly the result of other teams needing to run the ball less since we have had the lead in a few games recently.
by schraggyj on Nov 19, 2008 3:08 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Also, our linebacking corp is largely made up with extras from the movie "Miracle"
Or at least that’s our method of finding them.
Seriously, we’re pretty sure because of injuries at least one of our starting linebackers will be working at a piggly wiggly next year.

Thigpen is in the shotgun
And Larry Johnson (or whoever) is behind him. Thigpen’s not as deep as a regular shotgun formation though. It’s a good formation for us because Thigpen operates more effectively out of the shotgun.

Who are some of the Chiefs' better "unknown" players?
Also, how’s Brandon Flowers been to date? Is he seeing the field?
by jj24 on Nov 19, 2008 3:19 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
this is a great question and I’m going to piggyback on it and ask if we can hear a little about Brandon Carr, Tank Tyler and Bernard Pollard (Bills’ fans new favorite player). Those are 3 players that are relatively anonymous for a lot of football fans. What kind of players are they and how good can their futures be in the league?
by kaisertown on Nov 19, 2008 3:27 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Carr
is a great value for where he was picked. It was always speculated that he would start sometime this season over Pat Surtain, but no one thought it would happen as quick as it did. Thing about the two starting corners the Chiefs have now (Flowers should be back for the game this Sunday) is that they are able to run with the recievers, whereas last year Law and Surtain were obviously too old to keep up with the youth of the NFL.
Pollard’s nickname from college was “The Hammer.” He likes to put the hit on people, and he’s been the brunt of alot of criticism due to our corners missing plays or getting burned last season. He’s also blocked a couple of punts for the Chiefs since his rookie season. He is definitely a high-character guy it would seem… half the time I see him he’s helping up the guy he just tackled.
As far as Tank Tyler… I’ll let someone else tackle that. I’m not high on the D-line.
have you seen my baseball?
by IISaiNtII on Nov 19, 2008 5:50 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Here’s my main questions on Tank Tyler.
What type of player is he, one who tries to penetrate to make the big play, or does he just hold his ground and try to drive his opponent to stop a play? Is he the long term answer as the starter next to Dorsey?
by kaisertown on Nov 19, 2008 7:28 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I don't know if you could distinguish that easily
But, we suppose Tanks more of a run stuffer than a up the middle sacker. That’s not to say he’s isn’t necessarily the long term starter, but right now the Chiefs rotate a lot at the D-line, making it tough to nail down any one link. Of late, the ends have had a lot of trouble getting to the QB.
As we said before, Marshawn WILL break a big run this game.
by Official Arrowhead Pride Parade on Nov 19, 2008 10:53 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Currently injured we believe
But, yeah him and Brandon Carr should be a nasty pick-happy backfield in years to come.
Mark Bradley, if you still consider him unknown, is a stud as a #2 receiver.
Bernard Pollard, same deal, is a force of nature doing good works (breaking Brady for the NFL) and generally tackling anything human.
Jamal Charles is a high draft pick from Texas who has incredible speed but has had an ankle sprain of late.
Brad Cottam is the same deal only out of Tenn, and is Tony Gonzales’ heir apparent, in our opinion he is thusfar under utilized, but two TE sets aren’t always conducive to the spread.
by Official Arrowhead Pride Parade on Nov 19, 2008 3:28 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Ugh, don’t even get me started on Brad Cottam. You have no idea how badly I wanted the Bills to draft him.

Time for the Herm question
is patience running thin for him among the fans, and equally as important, the ownership?

Everyone wants them out
So we can actually become a good football team. Those who don’t simply haven’t been watching Chiefs football…..CLOSELY
by KansasCityShuffle on Nov 19, 2008 3:43 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
The way I see it...
Ownership is behind Herm, the fans are split. Half want him gone, half want him killed by any horrible means possible. Any suggestions?
by fishbowl72 on Nov 19, 2008 3:48 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
It seems the ownership/management
is behind Herm 100%; but with the Chiefs organization you have to try and deal with alot of smoke and mirrors. They aren’t open about anything, and always give the “team” answer, or tell the media to ask someone else about it.
As for the fans, I think it’s fair to say that he is not well liked by many people, and not liked at all by many more. There are Herm supporters coming out of the woodworks as of late, but I think it’s more due to the change of pace we’ve seen on offense the last few weeks. Most of the supporters are probably going to be on a week to week basis, depending on how badly we lose, or by the grace of god we win.
The way I see it, he’s a terrible head coach. He makes decisions that are really questionable, and has a severe lack of game management skills. Also, seeing how injuries have plagued his team, I suspect he’s not good at preparing his people to take the punishment of the NFL.

To the half who want Herm gone....
is it because of the record? To me who doesnt follow the team closely the Chiefs play good foorball lately and have tremendous talent. They seem to get better and better every week. Of course the Ws are missing but they will come. So what is it? I would trade Jauron for Herm anytime.
by Sven1979 on Nov 19, 2008 4:59 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Can you draw up the paperwork?
It has to do with game preparation, talent scouting, conditioning, game management, and accountability. All of which are big factors as to why those W’s are missing. Can’t forget track record and with Herm’s its hard for me to imagine he’ll ever have a Head Coaching position in the NFL ever again. He’s a key ingredient to the reciepe for a losing franchise
by KansasCityShuffle on Nov 19, 2008 5:18 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I would agree with most of that
but I want to know who REALLY found all our defensive talent. It’s been rumored that Herm is lazy and doesn’t watch alot of game film as far as scouting goes, and he makes decisions on guys based on a couple of plays.
have you seen my baseball?

you didn't ask
about the half that wants Herm dead…why not?
by fishbowl72 on Nov 19, 2008 5:59 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I say
we take all the money the Chiefs and Bills owe Herm and Jauron and we take Herm and Jauron out back, kick em in the nuts, and call it a day?
Seriously, how hard is it to build a football team? It’s all about a QB. Very simple. I’m so sick of this garbage. Edwards is going to get pulled Sunday if he turns it over twice in the 1st half, and if that happens…this season is ending 5-11 and we are picking in the top 10. Which at this point I wouldn’t mind
MARVelous
by MARVelous on Nov 19, 2008 6:05 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Not happening Marv. I get the feeling that Trent is in good/bad/ugly. This team is trying to develop into a winner and you do that by getting behind a QB 100%. D.J isn’t going to pull Trent and stunt his growth so to speak.
The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.
by sireric on Nov 19, 2008 6:15 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I think the name MARVelous says it all.
Both teams would still rather have Levy than their current coach. And Marv wasn’t all that great in KC.

Ummmmmm …….. really, really, really hard in my opinion. You hear about how teams “turn it around” all the time, but how many teams rise into the elite every year? Maybe one or two?
