maybe its cause jim mcnally left he was one of the best o-line coaches. and i just dont feel that attack/kill sense from the coaches
Nail on the head
I think that’s a big part of what’s missing. I don’t see any improvement in the line from the beginning of the season. The rn game seems to become more of a distant memory. Jim McNally is missed
And whats sad
The sad part is that this isn’t something that’s easily fixed. They probably struggle all year.
Perry
I think the problem is the defensive play calling. Where is the pressure, if our d-line isn’t getting Perry Fewell needs to create some with the other guys on the d. Please
unfortunately
he’s trying….he brought Mitchell and Poz numerous time today. He could try CB or Safety blitzes though….

Until the Bills
show they can push people back at the line of scrimmage and convert crucial fourth-and-one situations, they won’t be a playoff team. Today’s fourth-and-tone failure inside the 10 was a killer. That…..and the defense folding in crunch time.
We can have all the good QBs and RBs (and I like our guys) we want but until our offensive and defensive lines start dominating the line of scrimmage, we won’t be a serous threat.
We had too much pressure this time
Well the defense came out of the gun on a tear and the offense drove the ball consistently through the game despite not putting up points in the red zone. Derek Fine is worth another look, this guy’s performance got Royal to actually show up and do something.
You have to give the Bills defense a nice try this game. They responded to the criticism of “no pressure” by coming out on a tear like Brett Favre had killed their grandmother. Phil Simms actually started remarking that “that’s how the Buffalo defense plays”. I’m not sure where the criticsm about the lack of pressure is coming from — from where I was watching, it was the overpursuit and too much pressure that was killing our guys in the short stuff. If the Bills had backed off and played a little zone they might have stopped it.
I give this loss squarely to our interior O-line. Kris Jenkins could be blamed for two of the turnovers, including the 92-yard interception that ended up being a 10 point play in a 9 point game. The fact is: each of our division opponents use a 3-4 with a big Nose Tackle. So to compete in this division, we cannot allow our Center to be the weak point of the line. Plain and simple. That has to be addressed as soon as possible.
And that 4th and 1 at the 10 was a chicken call. It was a first down on the back-right angle, to the extent that it would have been reversed. I was screaming for Jauron to challenge it when Jackson obviously pushed his way past the spot. No challenge, but then next drive we challenge an obvious completed catch? Nice one, Dick.
Backfield tackling
The defense got a lot of penetration today and over and over, the first guy to the ball carrier missed the tackle. Amazing how Jones and Washington just shook off tacklers like they were a duck shaking off water and then get huge gains and first downs when they needed them. Screens and reverses worked for the Jets for the same reason. Maybe our defense is too fast for their own good.
Jauron not challenging that call, but then challenging the Coles catch as absolutely moronic. Jackson sure looked to get to the 7 yard line or closer, not the 7 and a 1/2 that he was spotted at.
Give the Bills D a “nice try”? Why? They sucked again today. Favre had all day to throw and the underneath stuff was pretty much uncovered. Jones and Washington got a bunch of easy yards because nobody was near them when they caught passes.
I too liked Fine. Good hands, but I’m not sure he’ll be a run after the catch type guy though.

what to challenge and what not to challenge
Is that Jauron’s call, or is there someone up in the booth watching a replay telling him to do it.
Challenging the Coles catch was just dumb.
The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.
He explained that post-game: he said he had an angle on the field, but he couldn’t really see it. (No, I’m not sure how that “explains” his decision, either.)
I like Dick Jauron, but he made some curious decisions today, to put it lightly.

That’s no excuse. The team has someone watching the replays, so he should be finding that out immediately.
An angle on the field? For what? A stupid call

That’s what I’m saying. It wasn’t an excuse. It was one of the weirdest answers to a question I’ve ever, ever heard him give.

Hire a 16 year old kid who plays Madden all day like Bill Simmons says
Let him hold the damn flag and throw it when he thinks it needs to be done. At least then it will be sane calls made.
THANK GOD I was on a flight back home from a funeral and missed this thing, I don’t think I could have handled watching it today.
