Bills S Whitner has separated shoulder
Buffalo Bills safety Donte Whitner suffered a separated shoulder in Sunday's 26-17 loss to the New York Jets. He is considered "week to week", and the chances of him playing in this Sunday's matchup with New England are slim.
For now, expect the Bills to start Bryan Scott and Ko Simpson at safety this week. Bad timing for us at NE, even considering the fact that the Patriots are without a certain man named Brady.
Whitner's injury is the latest in a recent string of injuries in Buffalo's secondary. CB Terrence McGee remains less than 100% with a knee injury, though he's played; nickel CB Ashton Youboty has not played for three consecutive weeks nursing a leg injury of his own.
WR Josh Reed is also considered week to week with his ankle injuries. OG Brad Butler may return to practice on a limited basis this Wednesday, when the Bills return to the field to begin prep work for the Pats game.

The poor tackling may explain the injury. The way he was flying in towards Jones/Washington and then arm tackling them, I can’t imagine he didn’t screw up his shoulder that way.
I don’t think he got hurt until sometime in the 3rd Q, so that doesn’t explain earlier missed tackles this game or the rest of his career as killascript mentions….

Funny (well maybe not) thing is, I actually mentioned to my friend I was watching the game with that he’s going to break his arm with all those lunging arm tackles. I guess it was a separated shoulder instead….

I remember in the Jags game seeing Poz make what I thought was an unbelievably good arm tackle, when it turned out he yanked Jones-Drew’s helmet all the way around his head. So much for lunging arm tackles, huh?

Apparently, one of them is a guy. SB Nation is currently working to get that particular ad removed.

Greer is O.K. - Good Deal
According to Chris Brown’s blog “blogs.buffalobills.com”, Greer is fine.
Lets hope so because if we lose him we’re screwed with whitner out.
Also – Greer is my second favorite Bill and our best cover corner……….

Separated shoulder
Isn’t that just ducky. We need to find our what grade it is. There are three grades. The clavicle is held down by two ligaments and the attachment at the end of the bone where it sits on top of the shoulder. I know because I sustained a grade three separation (all 3 adhesioins broken) two years ago and just had it fixed by one of the best orthopods in the country, in Rochester. One of the most common injuries in football, see Julius Peppers. If you fall on the point of the shoulder with force, it will pop. It put Peppers out for quite some time and he was not back to full speed for a year. So, is it a grade 1 (tore one ligament), or a grade 3? That will be telling in how soon he comes back. If the clavicle is not separated enough, just by moving your arm and shoulder the loose clavicle will impinge and rub on the top of the shoulder. It then scrapes across nerves and causes lots of pain. Let’s hope it is a grade 1. They usually let that go and do nothing for it. If it is a grade 1, he could be back in two weeks playing with pain.
