Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

Marty Schotenheimer

Not sure if the last name is spelled correctly...but I would love to see him as the next Bills coach.  Thoughts

Dick Jauron is not a winner.  Why they went for a 40 FG to be down by 4 on 4th and 5 is beyond me.  You play to win the game and he plays not to lose the game.  There was less than a half a quarter to play.  If it had put you down 3 I would have understood.

He should be fired.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

I’ve said this before – there’s very close to a 0% chance that Schottenheimer returns to the NFL as a head coach. Anywhere.

He has some of what we like about ...

He shows decent controll of his team, and his overall demeanor is even-headed.

And some of what we don’t…

Questionable game management.

But he finds good players better, and he shows a bit more emotion. I couldn’t believe he got canned when he did. I think the Bolts are now paying. He would be my #2 choice, after Bill Cowher.

Never

How would you like a coach who takes you to the playoffs consistently and loses EVERY playoff game? Talk about frustration!

everything goes better with bacon

he hasn't lost EVERY playoff game

He’s 5-13 in the post season. I kinda see your point, but he is a winner. Brian, I know he has had a long career, but why do you think he will never coach again?

Because he is 65 and has said that he probably won’t ever coach again.

I don’t know what Banks has heard, but everything that Schottenheimer has said publicly would lead one to believe that he is retired for good. Then again, people regularly say what they think they should, or what people want to hear and then do the opposite, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised if Marty coaches again.

Well, its better than a coach who can only make the regular season interesting until week 14.

I’m still looking for that link myself…..

Marty would be great

I’ve been arguing with Brian for most of the season regarding this issue. I’d love to see Cowher but Marty would be a very close second.

The Bills will go wherever Trent Edwards takes them. I’m not sure a coaching change would make a difference in terms of making the playoffs. I could be wrong though. Heck, Bill Billicheck was fired from the Browns. However, as soon as Billicheck got Brady he started winning like crazy. Look at the Patriots now. They are doing pretty well, but not THAT well. They are definitely in danger of missing the playoffs.

Bill Cower seems to be a very popular candidate on these boards. I would argue that the talent on the Pittsburgh team is the reason for their success. Mike Tomlin came in as the new head coach and seems to be winning like cower did. Ben Rothlesburger, and a great defense are the two main reasons.

I do think the Bills are a talented group, and I wouldn’t disagree that with a different coach we may have one another game or two. However, the Bills are trying to build a great franchise team. And to do that you need talent. The best way to build a great football team is through the draft. I feel, in recent years, the organization has been doing a phenomenal job in the draft. Trent Edwards, Marshawn Lynch, Paul Posluszny, Kyle Williams, Donte Whitner, ect. If Trent Edwards, James Hardy, and Steve Johnson develop like the organization thinks they will, this team will be one of the best teams in the AFC for long time.
