Bills at Broncos: Second Half Open Thread

Broncos 13, Bills 10 at the half.  Denver has double the time of possession and oodles more offensive production, but a missed Denver field goal and a two-minute drive capped off by a 2-yard Marshawn Lynch touchdown have the Bills in it.

Bills get the ball first in the second half.  Dare we dream of a Bills victory?  Discuss...

There is no way in the world the Bills score on this possession. It’s against NFL rules. More likely they will turn the ball over and it will result in 7 points for Denver.

So far so good

Buffalo is giving me stuff to cheer about but will likely not hurt the draft. Hopefully Trent will learn how to throw before the 3rd drive during this week of practice. It would be so sweet to put a stake in the Patriots’ playoff hopes…

I love it when teams do that

The browns did it too..snubb the kick and jackson takes it to the 45. I’ll take that every time

WHAT he caught it?

No complaints for me I dont see why they got rid of the all out blitz it was working to the tune of -2 yards in the first half… COme on Ryan

the thing about that

Offense got the defense an extra 5 minutes on top of the halftime to recover from their looooooong first half

by Ron From NM on Dec 21, 2008 5:55 PM EST reply actions

well a draw and a hook

are the exact same thing its just the amount… in this case i would say he hooked that compared to what turn the ball normally has

Noooo.

in fact I don’t… Cause in every other sport I can think of, you hit, throw, or kick the ball, and someone else chases after it…

Brian,

On behalf of all of us here at the site I’d like to express concern. Your knowledge of Steve Johnson’s relationship status with his girlfriend may lead to many of us gathering together, finding out where you live, and having an intervention for you. You’re a Bills addict, man. Admitting it is the first step. : )

Reggie the Corner and Freddie Jackson for game balls.

Thank you Bills

for a wonderful Christmas present. No really thank you, for showing us that you can still win a game like this. Just when it seems all is lost you win a game like this and show us that good things are possible.

by RabidBuffalo on Dec 21, 2008 7:13 PM EST reply actions

Typical…win one when you’re officially out of contention…but it’s momentum for next year, I guess.

by NJBillsfan on Dec 21, 2008 7:13 PM EST reply actions

I wonder if the Denver blogger is going to still be so sensitive about the comment I made about Hochuli call now?

I hope SD wins.

by sabre74kkn on Dec 21, 2008 7:13 PM EST reply actions

somehow, we won

wow, this’ll make me willing to accept losing in Fantasy

He needed that for next season for sure, way to go kid way to see you developing into the quarterback that we saw earlier and had such high hopes for

Game balls...

McGee, Jackson, EDWARDS

and Corner

for sure! Rookie in a big road situation.

Sweet home Orchard Park.

by Undee on Dec 21, 2008 7:17 PM EST up reply actions

Thats for sure! The rookie corners played great. Although Terrance McGee did get tossed around by marshall a bit i am happy he had a few nice pass breakups and played better then most teams have been able to. Marshall is special and we played him well enough today

by ballinbills1315 on Dec 21, 2008 7:17 PM EST up reply actions

Yea I wanted Buffalo to lose early for a draft pick, but man am I happy.

The best thing is the adversity they went through, down early backs against the wall, then there was marshawn out, a terrible phantom penalty, and through all that buffalo showed some guts and some heart and went out and won a game. GREAT GAME

my day is happier then ever

by ballinbills1315 on Dec 21, 2008 7:15 PM EST reply actions

I think the lesson learned from this game is …

GET RID OF JP LOSEMAN AND GET A CAPABLE BACKUP QB.

(that and a pash russ).

by sabre74kkn on Dec 21, 2008 7:16 PM EST reply actions

Umm what?

How did you learn that lesson from this game?

by twoeightnine on Dec 21, 2008 7:17 PM EST up reply actions

B/c if we had someone capable of running the offense, we may have won the Jets game and perhaps the SF game … Edwards shows up and the offense turns around.

Losman to me is the #1 reason we lost to Miami, SF, and the Jets. We need a capable backup in case Edwards goes down.

by sabre74kkn on Dec 21, 2008 7:18 PM EST up reply actions

I think the previous 3 losses showed that, not today

~K

by Kurupt on Dec 21, 2008 7:20 PM EST up reply actions

very true … just venting …

by sabre74kkn on Dec 21, 2008 7:22 PM EST up reply actions

Ok

But Edwards was the QB for the first Phins loss, the Jets, Pats, Browns and the first half of the Niners. I’m not disagreeing that Losman is gone but I don’t think anyone should have thought anything about JP today.

by twoeightnine on Dec 21, 2008 7:23 PM EST up reply actions

Also, don't foget about Freddie -use the man!

Hope this is a win Edwards can build on – gives up hope.

by ccthemovieman on Dec 21, 2008 7:17 PM EST up reply actions

especially I want to see them use freddie more in the passing game hes going to get matched up on linebackers all the time outa the backfield and give trent time he will burn every single one of them

by ballinbills1315 on Dec 21, 2008 7:18 PM EST up reply actions

This was the same team we saw in the first 5 weeks, where did they go?

by WABillsfan on Dec 21, 2008 7:16 PM EST reply actions

Bills are 2-0 when he doesn’t play. I’m NOT saying trade the man, but to act like he is indispensable to the offense is simply not bearing out this season.

Dear Santa...

Please bring the Bills a Pass rushing defensive end,

Wait a second… we just beat a team with a winning record

Sure they play a crappy division but still thats a “quality” win i think

by ballinbills1315 on Dec 21, 2008 7:21 PM EST reply actions

of course it may not be a winning record after SD beats ’em … LuLz …

by sabre74kkn on Dec 21, 2008 7:23 PM EST reply actions

this is true

no team ever lost the division after being up 3 games with three to play

by ballinbills1315 on Dec 21, 2008 7:23 PM EST reply actions

If only..

…there had been more teams in the AFC West this year!

by Gino Parilli on Dec 21, 2008 7:24 PM EST reply actions

Haha, true that. 4-0 against those guys.

The D just stepped it up in the red zone. That was crucial. That was the story of the win. Period.

Sweet home Orchard Park.

by Undee on Dec 21, 2008 7:24 PM EST reply actions

Umm, and the fact that the offense had 3 TDs…

by thefourwinds on Dec 21, 2008 7:26 PM EST up reply actions

No...

Give credit to the O finally getting on track too…

by Cinga on Dec 21, 2008 7:26 PM EST up reply actions

Yes. Trent is back.

A little too late, though.

Sweet home Orchard Park.

by Undee on Dec 21, 2008 7:28 PM EST up reply actions

The point is the win required BOTH the O and the D. If the O had only scored 13, it wouldn’t have even been close.

by thefourwinds on Dec 21, 2008 7:30 PM EST up reply actions

It was never that the Defense couldnt step up I dont think but when your on the field a long time it gets hard to play with a fresh offense

by ballinbills1315 on Dec 21, 2008 7:29 PM EST up reply actions

Yea with chambers in at tackle the running game ran over (a poor) run defense of the broncos and that was the game they could dominate and keep the d fresh

by ballinbills1315 on Dec 21, 2008 7:29 PM EST reply actions

We only ran 87 yards, so it’s not like we dominated their DL….

by Kurupt on Dec 21, 2008 7:32 PM EST up reply actions

Sorta funny...

Early in the season, I joked about naming the Bills, the Cardiac Kids… This game was similar.. Early lead to the opponent, great come from behind…
But darn it.. I’m too old for this!!! Give me a Bills season that we blow everyone away!!!! Please????

by Cinga on Dec 21, 2008 7:31 PM EST reply actions

The slow starts kill

thats for sure buffalo needs to really lay down the hammer early and be in the game in the first quarter… I can only think of Kansas City when we did that

by ballinbills1315 on Dec 21, 2008 7:32 PM EST up reply actions

I know...

And for a comparison… How bout Brian Sipe, to TE???? Yikes!!!!
