2009 Buffalo Bills Defensive Backfield

With this year winding down and Greer and Youboty out for duration, we have had a chance to see Leodis and Reggie Corner play quite a bit.

And we have seen OBD change philosphy at the FS/SS with Whitner/Scott playing over Simpson and Whitner at FS/SS.

So let's all peek into our Crystal Ball and see what Opening Day 2009 brings!

Like many of you, I have unfortunately resigned myself to the fact that Jabari Greer, who only makes plays, will sign elsewhere in the offseason.  This will force OBD to use a 2nd day pick or a low level FA signing on a 5th CB.

That being done, it leaves us with McGee at one corner and either McKelvin or Youboty on the other side.  Here's where it gets tricky.  In Nickel, I say why not take the 3rd corner (McK or Ashton) and have them play outside and let McGee play the slot guy.  He has the best combo of hands/speed of the three and is a good tackler as well.  He could also be effective on blitzes.  Corner would also be inside on the dime.

As for Safeties, I have seen enough of Simpson to say Sayonara and would hope OBD looks to sign/draft a backup FS behind Whitner.  As for SS, I like Scott but again feel Wilson and/or Wendling do not have the cover skills we need.

What says you?
