Around SBN: NFL Roundtable: Which Draft Pick Is Most Likely To Bust?

Emerald Bowl Saturday Night

Happy holidays to all Rumblers. Santa was very good to me and now I get to watch a 24" monitor while surfing and blogging!

I will finally get to see Mr. Alex Mack play a game in the ultraprestigious Emerald Bowl on ESPN at 8PM Saturday night. I hope to watch our numero uno (as many of us hope) draft target make Interstate5 look like a one lane country road as Cal beats up on Miami. I fully expect to see the second coming of a huge Caterpillar bulldozer out there. But faster. I just wish I could watch the game with Marshawn and watch him comment amd SMILE! Go Cal Bears!

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

As Cal beats up on Miami? You wish.

We'll see.

Miami 7-5. Cal 8-4. Similarily matched teams. I’ll go with the “home” team.

I heard...

…that Mack was also a long snapper. I’m hoping that’s true, so I’ll be checking that out as well. If so, IMO that raises his draft stock even more. Neill’s long-snapping has been questioned before, and if Mack can replace him it would free up an extra roster spot.

Mack is seen by scouts as a fine long snapper. A real plus. Every roster spot is a premium.

It looked to me like Mack wasn’t long snapping on punts – only on PATs.

Yeah, I have no clue where people are coming to the conclusion that Mack will do long snapping in the NFL. He isn’t Cal’s long snapper and whichever team drafts him won’t use him there either.

Very Wierd

They do not chinch out on the trophy, but they sure do chinch out on the field. There is no more than 1yd behind one of the goalposts. Let us hope that nuts sell big in 2009 so they can rent a better field

In one play earlier I watched Alex as he saw the DT burst to the right on the snap. He snapped the ball, took his first step to the left to cut him off, and turned him the way he wanted to. He can turn his man wherever he wants to.

The slant in

Miami just scored on a slant in for 10yds. If you can execute it, that is one of the deadliest plays ever. Good job Miami. I like that play.

I’m liking the Cal CB Sydquan Thompson.

Now, please don’t think I’m hoping the Bills draft a CB!!

He's only a Junior so he might be available next year ;)

no word on if he’s coming out or not

Best is still gashing Miami's defense

Now Best has a thumb injury, but the Cal running game is still humming.

running the ball so well....and yet they dont go for it on 4th and half of a yard......

and then missed the kick……..when did Dick Jauron take Jeff Tedfords place as Cal’s HC?

good game overall by ALL of Cal's OL.....

217 yards on the ground……over 7 yards per carry……just great.

I watched some of the game and while Mack looked pretty good, I certainly wasn’t blown away. I was very surprised at how little Cal ran up the middle. I guess that is mostly because their RB is more of a Chris Johnson, Jamaal Charles, track star, type of runner. It looked like Cal almost always had Mack get into the second level and block linebackers where he did show a great deal of athleticism, but I really wanted to see him take on DTs one on one more.

by kaisertown on Dec 28, 2008 12:41 AM EST reply actions

I was surprised Cal didn’t run up the middle too. And you are right, Mack gets to the second level easily.

Well if you average 7 ypc doing what you did, why run up the middle??
