Who to watch in the Bowl Season?
Keuka121 has a post on Mack playing in the Emerald Bowl on Saturday. It would be great if some of our expert college posters can put up a post for draft prospects to watch this Bowl season.
I'm always excited when I can follow a college player to the pros and not just hear about them for the first time on draft day.
We've talked about Center propects, it would be great to see the options out there. Also, DE and LB positions would be of great interest. And now that it's come up, why not a TE or mega huge WR, 6' 2" +, 230 lbs+ -ish.
I'm also interested in what makes a college prospect a good NFL option. For instance people mention Laurenitis of Ohio State. And I watched him closely last Bowl season and this year when I could and I was just not blown away. I'm no expert so I'd really like to know why he is such a hot commodity.
Anyway, I'd love to hear from our college experts, who should we be watching this Bowl season?

Watch Levy!!!
He is so dang fast. We can take him in the 5th round and he’ll start over Ellison immediately!
Kawika Mitchell is a leader. He will help this young team develop.

Everette Brown
from FSU is playing right now. He’s a first round graded DE.
tonight is Alex Mack, Center from Cal who is graded late first early second rounder.

From what I saw, Brown really is just a speed rusher. I am more confident than ever that a 4-3 team won’t even consider him in the top 20-25 picks unless they think a pure edge rusher is what can put them over the top. He is as relentless in pursuit as every scouting report is going to say as well. He fits a 3-4 defense infinitely better than a 4-3.
Levy was solid, but unspectacular. He didn’t stand out that much to me and I thought it was pretty clear why he is going to get drafted in the middle to late rounds. He has a nice game with solid speed and instincts, but he just isn’t special enough to be an impact type player at the next level.

Levy is what he is. He’s not a guy that would come in and start for us, IMO. If we are looking for depth at LB instead of a starter come draft weekend, he’s definitely be worth looking at in the 4th and 5th rounds.
Even though Brown may seem to fit the 3-4 better, I still think we need to look at him. We need to improve the pass rush as much as any position. There’s not reason to believe he couldn’t develop into a 4-3 DE. I love his athleticism and pass rush ability, which is really what we need to add most on D.

I disagree. I think Levy will be a steal for whatever team gets him in the 5th round. As you mentioned he has great speed and instincts. That is the kind of player that can be coached into being an impact player in the NFL. He has the physical tools, all he need is to put it all together.
And Kurupt you say he wouldn’t come in an start for us I also disagree. Keith Ellison should not be starting in this league and I would wager that Levy could win a training camp battle with him if we don’t have a coach like Jauron who loves his players too much to do what is best for the team

Beating out Keith Ellison doesn’t mean you should be starting in the league at that time. In time, Levy sounds like a player, but I really hope we aren’t going into next year starting a 4th or 5th round rookie LB….

I said solid speed and instincts. After watching him play over the weekend, I wouldn’t call either “great”. I think he could be a pretty good one, but there are reasons why he isn’t going to get drafted early. I think people tend to overrate rookies and assume they will beat out the incumbants, but it doesn’t happen all that often. I agree with Kurupt that he probably wouldn’t be able to come in and start right away.

mack
what i noticed first was the sound technique and his ability to get leverage on a defensive player. he blocked to the whistle and appeared to play with an edge. i liked his play but i don’t think we should be taking him w/our first pick. i want to see unger of oregon play to get a better feel for who the better center is.

I also saw him
be first in the pile to try to recover a fumble, and block his man and still get down field to block for a WR who caught a pass. Very impressive!!! To be fair, he did miss a blitzer who shot the gap between C and G. Maybe it was not his assignment, I couldn’t tell.
