Decision on Jauron due Wednesday
2 days and a wake up folks...
Ralph Wilson and his vaunted "inner circle" will hold more meetings over the next two days and are expected to make known a decision on Dick Jauron's future with the team sometime Wednesday.

… but… but…
See, THIS is the problem with the “inner circle”, folks. Decisions take too damned long to make.

If you’re agreeing with me, great. If you’re disagreeing with me, you’re darned tooting that 2 days is a long time. :)

I’m just hoping they have a plan. Like so many things this organization does both on and off the field, sometimes I think they’re just winging it.

Two days to decide the immediate future of the franchise is well worth it I think......
I mean you dont want to make a hasty WRONG decision……because then the “bloggers” can take that and run with it…….
Either way they’re damned if they do, and damned if they dont with most folks………

If you are not sure whether you want to fire Jauron now,
what is going to change for you in two days? If you are fairly certain you are going to fire Jauron, you are letting other teams get a jump on talking to possible replacements. After this week, the window closes until their team is out of it, right?

If you mean the only candidate for the team is on a team in the playoffs then yes....
they have to wait….however that cant be the only reason…..I mean what if Ralph wants to lay out exactly how he wants things to go down…..He might just want to lay out his plans and then let his “inner circle” take care of things from here……Thus he’s taking the two days to explain what he wants for this offseason.

This just sucks
Whether you like Jauron or not he doesn’t deserve to twist in the wind until New Year’s Eve. Fire the guy or publicly commit to him. The only reason to do otherwise is to begin a search for a GM and then let him either commit to Jauron or fire him.

what Jauron "deserves"
If jauron was half as ernest and as morally sound as the media, his players, and some fans make him out to be, Jauron would be man enough to simply quit as a way of acknowledging just how inept he is at his job rather than trying to collect another year’s worth of paychecks as sets this team back even further than he already has. Certainly, waiting three days only serves to further illustrate just how ridiculous Wilson’s front office structure has become out of nothing more than paranoia over the Donahoe debacle (I love Marv and all, but I don’t think nearly enough was made out of how bizarre it was to bring him back as the head of the front office, to have him quit two years later, and to replace him with a marketing guru). But as far as Jauron goes, he’s been compensated far more than he “deserves” already and 60 years from now, I’ll think back on him as gutless crook who refused to go away out of spite when the fans of this team deserved so much more.

Haha. Let me ask you this: would ANY coach, any man who has any sort of confidence in his abilities, quit because some fans don’t like him? Come on, Nick. You’re right about the front office, but to call Jauron a crook for a collecting a paycheck while he’s doing his job is completely absurd.

I don’t think popularity amongst the fans is the issue; I think utter ineptitude at his job is. Jauron’s not stupid (despite the evidence we see each Sunday); he HAS to understand that he’s completely overmatched each week as a head coach. He’s made a lot of money as a player and coach in the NFL and he knows he has either a lucrative buyout or another seven figure annual salary ahead of him if he simply refuses to go away. People quit jobs they’re overmatched at all the time; it’s just harder to do when the money’s so good. I’m not saying Jauron’s the only coach whose pulled this sort of thing, but if we’re going to applaud the guy for his supposed morality, integrity, etc., let’s admit the reason he’s still here tonight- he’s looking for a payday he doesn’t deserve.

That’s far too cynical for me to swallow. Jauron’s here because he’s been in the NFL for over 3 decades and loves coaching. He loves his job. Would YOU quit a job you loved, ESPECIALLY if you feel you deserve another chance? No. No you wouldn’t.

Plus I am anxious to see how the Parcells things unfolds.. Ralph loves Parcells and maybe, just maybe…
If not, Spags will be off limits until after their playoff run so there is no rush there either.

Plenty of good candidates out there. No need to worry too much about finding a replacement if we do let Jauron go. My picks:
HC: Marty S. (unless by some miracle Cowher is available)
OC: Chris Peterson (Boise State head coach)
DC: Rod Marinelli (great DC previously in Tampa)
ST: Bobby April
Now, make up your mind Ralph… and let’s move on.

Rod Marinelli was never a “great DC previously in Tampa”. That defense was, is and always will be Monte Kiffin’s. Marinelli was their D-Line coach.

I’m sorry, I mean that I disagree that he wasn’t a great coach. You’re correct, he was the d-line coach. But he was a very good one. And there is nothing wrong with learning a thing or two from Monte either. I think he would be a very good coordinator for us.

Monte is off to Tennessee to coach for his son Lane. I would wager that Tennessee will be a powerhouse very soon. Lane is familiar with west coast recruiting and Monte has lots of east coast contacts. What a team in a great conference!

make us wait it out till wed is painful I agree. And why meetings in Detroit? Ralph is going about this all the wrong way. Jauron is sitting in his home in Buffalo, with his wife I’m sure and just dying inside. It really isn’t fair. A decision should be made swiftly either way, as Ron said regardless of how you feel about the guy.
Do we really trust Brandon, Wilson, Modrak and Littman to make this decision???? God knows what they’ll come up with

Decision
needs to be made though, cuz if they do can him, the Spags, Rex Ryan’s and Josh McDaniels will already most likely have done one interview this week. We need to get after those coaches. I wonder who ultimately will hire the coach? Russ Brandon? Are you kidding me? And I think the big factor is Ralph willing to eat $6 million from Jauron adn then turn and pay a big time HC 2.5-3.5 mill a year for 3-4 years?

Anyone really think Shotty would come back to Buffalo at this stage…? I’d love to see it, but I just don’t know.
Does his zeal to win the big one exist? want him, but it would have been better a few years ago. On Sirius NFL radio, he plays it pretty coy, when asked about returning, I just hope, that someone of his caliber can coach this team. No matter what some say about his teams not getting to the big dance, I think he is a coach I can get behind, whether the ships sinks or not, I would believe in the Captain…not the Gilligan we have now

usually come back to bite people in the end…….I think 48 hrs isnt that long to weigh your options…

If I were a head coaching candidate considering Buffalo, the lifespan of the owner would be a serious consideration for me. If I come to Buffalo, how long would I have to prove myself? How long would my tenure be? That factor is an added risk that will play into anyone’s decision. Not helpful to us fans.

You do realize that for the most part the NFL owners club is an old white's club, right?
Ralph is really, really old but Bidwell, Richardson, McCaskey, Brown, everything but Jones’ face, Ford Jr., McNair, Weaver, Huizenga, Benson, Davis, Rooney, Spanos, Glazer, and Adams are all really old. Yes we’re in a unique situation where Ralphie has not announced a real plan for the team after he passes but if any one of those owners were to pass away today it would mean a new owner who could do anything he or she wants.
Besides, the old coot is going to outlive them all. Probably most of us too.

we should
have Rod Marinelli and Dick Jauron co-head coaches. Two really nice hard working guys.
It would be so sweet! Maybe that’s why they are meeting in Detroit! HA HA HA!!!
JK…..but seriously is it wednesday yet? And it will probably drag onto Wed night knowing this brain trust and then finally Ralph will say, “russ I want you to call heads or tails and heads we keep Jauron, and tails we fire em/”
Brandon “but coach if we fire him who will we hire? I am just a marketing guy, I have no clue about schemes. and hiring a football coach of an NFL team.”
