Fire Perry Fewell

There has been some chat about the security of Dick Jauron's job security lately and I believe he has done a fine job of just about everything here in Buffalo so far with the exception of one VERY important thing: picking his coordinators. The jury is still out on Turk Schonert who cannot be judged on one season of work where he has showed some good and some bad.

Perry Fewell, though... well he is a different story. I wanted to teleport to the Rogers Centre today to personally break a clipboard over his head (exaggeration). His defense only gave up 16 points today but it could have been more like 7 or 0 the way this game played out. I'm too lazy to recount the whole game of his absolute stupidity on defensive calls, but I'll throw one out there that I think typifies his incompetence.

The Dolphins are across midfield and have a key 3rd and 7 and Perry Fewell calls man-under with exactly a 7 yard cushion for his DBs. Let that sit for a moment. So, as soon as the ball is snapped the corners start their back-pedal and have no way to stop the 7 yard out that Pennington executes. I almost had an outer-body experience when I watched this unfold. Perry Fewell shouldn't be allowed in the same zip code as our players anymore.

I hope from the bottom of my heart that Jauron has the stones to cut him loose in the off-season and find somebody competent. I'm done...... for now..... too much studying to do. At least the Gators whooped some ace this weekend.

You can't be serious

You think Turk deserves another chance…how many times are we going to watch this ridiculous play calls….3rd and 4th and short we continue to throw the ball…we get to to the goaline throw the ball….Our best player by far on offense is Lynch…Why do not give him the ball…And Dick sits there and watches these outrageous calls….The head coach as well as the offensive and defensive coordinator should be released….

I think Fewell definitely has room to improve.

The Bills rarely get pressure on the QB. I do think this may be because the front four alone doesn’t generate pressure. Thus, its not really Fewell’s fault. Schobel and Kelsay are pretty good players, but this year neither of them has pressured the QB particularly well. And even when they do get sacks or pressure the QB, it’s because the coverage is really good. If you ask me, the Bills need to get some D Linemen that can rush the QB. If the front four can get pressure on the QB, the Bills will generate more turnovers and probably win more football games.

And although the Bills don’t allow a lot of points, it isn’t because they play particularly well. It seems that the other teams just tend to drop balls or get penalties.

Turk called an absolutely horrible game today. I don’t know if it’s time to fire him though. Maybe there is some way the Bills can help him? I hope so.

In conclusion:

I don’t think we should fire Fewell. What we need to do is bring in some guys who can rush the QB.

I do think we need to do something with Turk though. I don’t know if firing him is the best way to fix our offense but it might be. Turk seems to have the weapons at his disposal, but doesn’t produce.

You don’t sit back and wait for a coordinator to figure things out. You don’t find some way to help him out. If he’s too incompetent to figure things out quick enough, get him out of here. Schonert has to go, he is downright clueless out there….

You can't be serious?

Too bad our best player doesn’t have a line to open up holes for him. Maybe the Bills wouldn’t abandon the run if they could run. I didn’t say Turk deserved another chance, I said the jury’s out because it shows a whimsical immaturity to pass judgment on an NFL coordinator after one season on the job.

I agree with silk

FA – I think you are 100% correct about Perry Fewell. However, I have to disagree that he is the ultimate cause and the only one to go. Turk is not doing any better, but the responsibility all falls on Mr. Jauron. What’s killing me is I just don’t understand how DJ doesn’t appear to be analyzing what this team is doing and adjusting and adapting like pretty much every other coaching staff in the league (except for sure Detroit). I just don’t comprehend how and why we keep making the same mistakes over and over, game after game. I swear our coaches must be doing something other than watching game tape. DJ is ultimately responsible for not leading our coaching staff in the right direction and not making the necessary adjustments. DJ and staff at OBD are very, very good at acquiring good talent and character, but it has become painfully obvious that they are not very good at game planning and game day coaching. DJ must be the one to go, and the others will follow. It will never happen, but I truly believe Bill Cowher could take this current team and do great things.

100% agree about the offensive play calling.

But do we need to fire Dick Jauron? Cant we just get a better offensive coordinator.

The Bills score 6 points in 2 straight home games, and you want to fire the d-coordinator?

The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.

Losman

I’m sorry but I think the 6 points the last two games were the result of Losman sucking things up as usual. He cannot run an offense in the NFL.

If you think about last game Trent was out after the half and said that the his groin was hurting him prior to that.

so i’m pretty sure the 6 points in two games had more to do with losmans ineffectiveness than anyother single factor.

I am on board with firing Fewell though, his defenses are not good and he doesnt’ use his players correctly. he does need d-line help which should be a draft priority every year. oline and dline that is

Schonert actually

has improved production by around 25-33% from last year I believe.. Not that there was anywhere else to go after last year..

Our offense has improved in terms of average points scored. However, the past two games, the bills have only manged to score a combined total of 6 points. Against two mediocre defenses may I add.

Keith Butler

There is no argument that Jauron & Schonert must also go.

In the meantime assuming that Bobby April gets promoted to HC and they want to keep their 4-3 scheme. The guy that intrigues me is Keith Butler. He definitely could bring an aggressive mindset to the unit. I could see us actively pursuing Terell Suggs in FA as a replacement at SLB. With Butler as the DC and Mitchel/Poz/Suggs as our main LB core, I could see us becoming extremely aggressive and able to mix things up and free up Schobel to be able to do his thing.
