Kelly, Sweed or Thomas
I know that this has been a huge debate over the past several months and I have nothing new to argue about either three of them. I just spent the last half hour looking at random videos of all three and have come to one conclusion.
If all three are healthy and we picked any of them with our 11th pick, I would not be disappointed.
People say rookie WR don't contribute, I think it is a product of who they are lining up with. You are telling me that with Lynch in the backfield, Roscoe or Reed in the slot and Evans on the opposite side that any of the top three WR is not going to put up decent numbers (like I said before... if they are healthy).
This post is not for ney-sayers... I want to hear peoples excitement for selecting either one of these guys. I personally think if we don't take one at 11, we will do what ever it takes to move back up and grab a top 3 WR.

Just curious
I was just wondering, because I don't like Sweed either. However, I'll admit that I don't have any legitimate reasons to support it, either.

I can't wait
Oh wait, this is a WR at #11 thread. OK, I'll concede. I don't care which of the 3 we get, as long as they turn into a quality starter for us and help take some attention away from Evans. I hope all 3 develop into stud WR's, so the chance we drafted the dud would be gone.
I'm a little miffed by everyone's opinion of Sweed. I think he's going to be a very good player and has much better game speed than track speed. I love his YAC potential and ability to go up and get the ball. Of the 3, I think Kelly is the weakest in picking up yards after the catch, but he seems to have the best hands. It's going to be a tough call and at this point it's hard to choose the wrong one assuming Kelly is 100%.

Who is ready now?
Kelly reportedly has the most upside. Over the long haul that might make him the best choice. However, his potential has to be weighed against his injury history. I read that he had a torn ACL in high school but I don't have the faintest idea if that makes it more or less likely that he'd have the same kind of injury again. Speaking as a guy who owns most of the grip strength toys in the Ironmind catalog (and who rolls a pair of 8 pound shots in rather small hands) I love Kelly's hand strength.
Thomas I know little about other than he had one really good year. Well, in the NFL teams are wary of guys who put up big numbers in their contract years. Shouldn't the same hold true in this case? Again, I'm not saying that he's a one year wonder but rather that the team should look deeper into his history and why he didn't produce earlier in his collegiate career.

Thomas
For one thing, he went the JUCO route, so he was only at MSU for 2 seasons. Who knows how quickly he picked up the offense when he first got there. Also, I don't know much about JUCO's, but he may not have gotten to MSU until August, like a typical freshman does (I've got no idea on that, so hopefully someone can clarify).
MSU also brought in a new coach before this past season (Mark Dantonio), who obviously brought in his offense, which better suited Thomas' skills. It's tough to know, but maybe the prior coach just didn't utilize Thomas' abilities.
That's all I know about his situation. I wouldn't hold his one year wonder status against him. I'd rather see that out of a player than a couple of mediocre seasons capped off with an above average final season. Putting up the numbers he did, it's easy to see how explosive he can be, so that is very intriguing.

And I do like him in the 3rd or 4th round if that's where we go after a TE....

College Prospects
I gave up trying to predict how a college player would do in the NFL after the Mike Williams debacle. I thought he was a can't-miss stud. Ooops. It dawned on me one day that Williams, while a good college player, looked better than he should have because UT played some poor teams. College teams are so uneven that it's tough to tell who will do well against the elite competition (compared to college) they will face every week in the NFL.
