Mock draft, from the third round on..
I'll admit, this draft didn't go the way I had hoped. But yet, I can't complain. It seems as though we really upgraded our secondary, and got the big WR that we all know we needed.
My question to you all - What happens tomorrow? With a high third, two fourths, and a fifth, we still have a chance to get a "player" or two.
There are some really good players out there. Who do you like, and more important, where?
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

First of all – I think it’s highly doubtful that we choose with all 8 picks. Look for them to move around a bit and get some good players.
I really think that if Dan Connor is available when they choose at #72, he’ll be the pick. Flame away… it’s just a gut feeling.
They’ll need to grab a tight end at some point, possibly as soon as the third round. Craig Stevens (Cal), Brad Cottam (Tennessee), Martin Rucker (Missouri) and Jermichael Finley (Texas) are the popular options. One may even be available in the fourth round… cross your fingers.
I don’t want to get into it much further than that, though I’ll end by saying I expect them to target smart, tough football players with good value, regardless of positional need. They’ll have positional targets, sure, but value rules the day now that their two biggest needs are filled. There’s not a lot of pressure on them tomorrow, and they could have a very productive day two. Should be fun!

I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats take Cottam or Rucker
They pick before us, too. And I’d like to see the Bills take a FB, too. And a center. And a QB to replace Losman when he leaves next year. And a DE for depth.
Who am I kidding? We have holes just about everywhere; might as well just pick for quality at this point.
Think about it
Name one position that the Bill WON’T pick.
They can truely go by best player available.
The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.
There are a few
Other than kicker, punter and KR/PR of course.
I think they’re unlikely to take another CB, a RB, or a FS/SS before round 6/7.
Moving
I’d like to see then move around. I would/will object if they movef around with next year’s picks.
Is Finley available in the fourth? What about Velasco?
Are they going to go after another WR? Sireric – you and I had the same philosophy – two guys in rounds 2-5. But with Hardy in check, do you think they take a stab at a guy (WR) in the first three rounds tomorrow?
What we should grab? What is there left is more like it? TE, DE, DT, FB, C, and OL are my remaining priorities
TE-
Brad Cottam TE 6’7” 270 TENNESSEE
Craig Stevens TE 6’3” 254 CALIFORNIA
Martin Rucker TE 6’4” 251 MISSOURI
Jermichael Finley TE 6’4” 243 TEXAS
Kellen Davis TE 6’6” 262 MICHIGAN STATE
These are the five best remaining guys from the TE class, sure theres more, but the value drops pretty fast. We may need to reach up into the 3rd to get Stevens or Cottam to make sure we get a TE who can “catch”
C-
Steven Justice OC 6’3” 293 WAKE FOREST
John Sullivan OC 6’3” 301 NOTRE DAME
Cody Wallace OC 6’4” 296 TEXAS A&M
Jamey Richard OC 6’4” 295 BUFFALO
Kory Lichtensteiger OC 6’2” 298 BOWLING GREEN
Since only Pollack was drafted today, we do get our shot at the remaining top 5 players here, and I think Richard, Wallace or Sullivan might work out best for us in the 4th round.
FB-
Not surprisingly, the top 3 FBs remain on the board:
Jacob Hester FB 5’10” 226 LSU
Peyton Hillis FB 6’0” 240 ARKANSAS
Owen Schmitt FB 6’2” 247 WEST VIRGINIA
I still lean towards Schmitt, but its mostly becuase I have seen him play, and not because I know anything especially about him that makes me shout “Eureka!”
DT-
This spot could always use another guy from it, especially if the Bills have any injury concerns.
Marcus Harrison DT 6’2” 317 ARKANSAS
Pat Sims DT 6’2” 310 AUBURN
Andre Fluellen DT 6’1” 296 FLORIDA STATE
Dre Moore DT 6’4” 305 MARYLAND
Red Bryant DT 6’4” 318 TEXAS A&M
These are the 5 best remaining big bodies. I like Red Bryant mostly because he can take up two guys by just walking onto the field and I would be fine if we moved FB down to a 5th round pick to take Red in the 4th.
DE-
I don’t know a whole lot about any of the following guys, but they are purported to be the next group of bodies that are available for drafting. I f you know something about these guys, let me know so I can know whether or not to get excited tomorrow if we take one!
Cliff Avril DE 6’2” 253 PURDUE
Jeremy Thompson DE 6’4” 264 WAKE FOREST
Chris Ellis DE 6’4” 263 VIRGINIA TECH
Kendall Langford DE 6’5” 287 HAMPTON
Darrell Robertson DE 6’3” 255 GEORGIA TECH
Bryan Smith DE 6’2” 231 MCNEESE STATE
OL- These are the next 4 best OTs I could find, and the next best 4 OGs I could scrounge up. I know Collins is suppossed to be respectable, but depending on how we pritoritze the Bills needs tomorrow, we’ll miss on him.
Anthony Collins OT 6’5” 317 KANSAS
Carl Nicks OT 6’4” 341 NEBRASKA
John Greco OT 6’4” 305 TOLEDO
Breno Giacomini OT 6’7” 303 LOUISVILLE
OGs:
Oniel Cousins OG 6’3” 308 UTEP
Jeremy Zuttah OG 6’3” 303 RUTGERS
Roy Schuening OG 6’3” 306 OREGON STATE
Michael McGlynn OG 6’4” 311 PITTSBURGH
I’ve heard of Cousins and I have seem Zuttah play, any of them worth it before the 4th? Probably not, so I think the Bills go in this order tomorrow.
3 9(72) - TE
4 15(114) - C
4 33(132) - FB
5 12(147) - DE
6 13(179) - DT
7 12(219) - OL
7 17(224) - OL
7 44(251) - WR/DB
Fear the mighty helmet wearing gopher, he is coming for your soul....
Tomorrow
For all the Fowler-bashing on this Board, the Bills think he is totally fine and aren’t seeking one tomorrow. I think you will will see them try to get good solid players who are their “kind of guys.” They would like a TE, another LB, a swing OL guy who can play tackle, and if possible a natural FB.

Everyone seems ont he same page
I don’t see any arguments here, everyone agrees to go for value and there seems to be value available at TE and LB. I’m surprised only 4 LB’s have been taken so far. Just playing the numbers but there will probably be a run on them in the top of the 3rd.
And it would be nice to get back into the 3rd
MAybe @ 75 (49’s), 83 (Bucs), 88 (Steelers)
Not many other options than that
Still Some Good Players Available
This is my first post although I have been “lurking” for a while now. First off, I am extatic about the bills draft so far as I think McKlevin will be an immediate starter and Hardy is the red-zone beast we are lacking. In terms of players still available, these are some names that I am hoping we can land and just wanted to see what people’s opinions are…
Red Bryant -DT: Massive DT who provides great insurance for Stroud and could work well on a 1st/2nd down rotation
Dan Connor – LB: Just great value
Dre Moore -DT: Similar to Bryant although I like Bryant’s work ethic better
Chris Ellis -DE: Could be a suitable 3rd down pass rusher to take the place of Hargrove
Kellen Davis -TE: Great Upside if he could only play to his measurables
Hoping we get one of these guys with our 3rd/4th round pick. On a side note, this site has had the best bills related discussions I have found and I appreciate the time everyone has put into it.
Surprising
to see Dan Connor fall as far as he has. I think there will be a pretty competitive push to get him. I think the Bills would be wise to go after him. But it is definitely not unwise “not” to pursue him. All in all, if Connor is there… he’s the pick. If he’s not, I’d love to see Early Doucet in a Bills uniform. I think him in the 3rd and Rucker in the late 3rd (via trade) or early 4th would set our offense up very nicely for the next 4-5 years. Then, if we could find another Brad Butler-type OL in the 5th or 6th.
Also, if Connor and Doucet are both gone in the third, I would be praying that Chris Ellis was on the board to give us some much needed depth/talent at DE. He may be one of the most underrated prospects in this draft.
"I don't agree with a damn thing you say, but I would die for your right to say it."
Wish list for tomorrow
3 – Kellen Davis, TE or Dre Moore, DT
4 – Brad Cottam, TE or Owen Schmitt, FB – depending on round 3
4 comp – Eric Ainge, QB – Even if no J.P. trade, we need to develop a QB.
5 – Adrian Arrington, WR
6 – Trevor Scott, DE – Stole from sireric’s mock
7a – Doug Legursky, C – I still would not mind
Velasco with this pick,.
7b – Marcus Monk, WR – If no WR in rounds 5 or 6.
7 comp – Jehuu Caulcrick, FB if no FB in round 4
The Bills
are in a great position to just take the best player avaible regardless of what they play. Dan Connor would be nice, but I have a feeling that the Dolphins will take him immediately.
TE is a sore spot for us, so in the third we should take the best TE on the board. That’s the only position the Bills should just address by completing focusing in on it. All other picks can be BPA.
