I Am Excited About FB

I am excited about the FB position.  This board hasn't really discussed it much as a need or relating to the draft.  I want to see a smashing, path-clearing FB who can catch a bit of the dump offs; we should not look for a hybrid guy who can run with the ball.  I would have to think that we will draft a FB, and, with one of the 2 4th round picks, we should use it to draft the best FB (can't imagine a FB going before that) -- not wait until 5th or later.   Is Owen Schmitt that guy?  I hear that Patrick Hillis, and I know Jacob Hester, are more of a ball carrying FB.  Is there anyone else?  Frankly, we should grab the best one (not settle for less) and not worry about picking too early -- this is a chance to make a dramatic improvement to our run-blocking and short passes.

I would love Owen Schmitt in the 4th
Now that we have a compensatory 4th rounder I feel like the Bills have to grab Schmitt. I really feel that many on this site have downplayed the impact he could have as a rookie and for many years to come on this offense. Considering there are no real standout centers that I have heard of in the draft, Schmitt may be the next best thing. If our offense could come out of the draft with Kelly, Schmitt, and center I find it hard to believe we wouldn't see significant improvement immediately, even if the center doesn't start until the following season.
It's not delivery, It's DiGiorgio!

FB
I've got a small FB writeup that I'll post either later today or tomorrow. Besides Schmitt, there are a couple of other quality lead blockers that won't cost us a 4th or 5th round pick...

finally.
Thanks Kurupt, many of us will be looking forward to it. I'd love to know who else is out there.

Great!
We are so caught up on WR, CB and TE (and even talking about getting a 4th DE), but FB could really be important IF we get the very best (running game, for sure, but in the passing game (perhaps what we are hoping a TE draft pick would do)).  If Schmitt is going to be one of the very best FB in the league, let's not try to dance around by waiting for him a round too late (and end up picking a "quality" FB instead).  I just want to know if Schmitt is that much better than everyone else (I always hear Hillis' name, but that he can't block!).

FB
The thing that excites me is that even though our "Beast" Lynch has never ran with a FB, his running style fits real well with a FB. He ca nbe shifty but Lynch is patient and explosive and once he sees daylight after the FB makes that initial block, Marshawn will be gone. Marshawn does not do a whole lot of dancing like Willis did. I even think that Fred will benifit a ton from a FB as well. Frew has a ton of potential as well.
