ESPN - From draft day to rookie camp, small-town player gets his chance - NFL
Apologies, folks, but my first final is tonight and I've been busy all day preparing for it. However, I'm looking at a free weekend (for the most part), so I promise I'll have something substantial up tomorrow morning.
For now, here is an ESPN.com article covering the draft weekend and rookie camp experiences of rookie Bills RB Xavier Omon. It's a fantastic read, and should hold you over for the rest of the afternoon. See y'all back here tomorrow morning!

That was an interesting read
I find it interesting that the Bills seem to target kids who come from somewhat tough backgrounds of growing up. Bell and his non-existent famous dad, and Omon and the personal tragedies that seemed to follow him like a black cloud.
In some ways I admire the Bills for doing this, and I have to think that they do it intentionally since these kids also seem to have the same type of self confidence and willingness to succeed that is essential to the NFL. Thanks for the story Brian.

Add to Bell and Omon....
The stories of Bowen and Hardy…
I don’t know that the Bills actually “target” these guys, from obviously, rough backgrounds, but kudos to the Bills staff, for doing their “homework”..
While I didn’t blog here last year, all of us need to remember the major knock on Marshawn Lynch, wasn’t his ability, but his “off field” problems… Seems so long ago.. What was it again??? My point is, if you took a poll over at BB.com on who the most popular “Bill” is right now, Marshawn would win, hands down…
The Bills staff did a great job, researching the incident, and knowing that there was no problem… And I’m confident they got it right again, with, Hardy, Bowen, Omon, and Bell…
And what the heck… Most of we Bills fans are from Buff!!! We know what it’s like to be “down and out”... But most of us have also beaten the odds (or are currently fighting), to make a life for ourselves and our families… It’s in our blood…. We fight, and encourage others to along the way…. Makes it easy to “adopt” into our family, the Hardy’s, the Bowen’s, the Omons, and the Bells…. They are “kin” after all….
