Minicamp cut, along with....

Teyo Johnson and Luke Drone. The cuts of the players wasn't surprising to me, but cutting short the minicamp makes me wonder.

Star-divide

I don't think anyone gave much of a shot to either player, though had Johnson shown anything he may have been invited to training camp. In the reports from the last couple of weeks, I don't recall seeing his name once. But with Jauron making the call to "throw them a little bone" and ditch the last day of minicamp, I can't help but be a little skeptical.

Sure the guys that showed worked their tails off and by all accounts started to bring things together some. Hardy, Evans, and Edwards with their extra reps at the end of practices; Greer (whom I've always thought highly of) showing he's not going to allow McKelvin to waltz into the starting spot, the offense starting to show some rhythm, etc. But the timing is just too weird for me to let go of.

There's still yet to be any reports of what went down when the cops arrived this afternoon. I can't help but think that maybe an alterior motive was to get the majority of players out of Dodge before the Sheriff came to town. Not to mention that there won't be another day of reporters swarming the guys asking about Peters and Lynch. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, or that the guys didn't earn it, simply that it's one of those things that make me go "Hmmmm...".

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Ending camp early

Sounds like Jauron is going Club Med on them already. These guys need all the work they can get, not a day off in JUNE! I’m already prepared for the typical Jauron slow start to the season.

I guess it could be something related to the Lynch incident, but I doubt they cancel practice to help out a few guys. I think it’s Jauron’s typical light workouts creeping in…

i disagree

in my opinion its all way to go DJ. Absolutely get everyone out of there with cops and reporters lurking around trying to tear apart our team on the brink of making a playoff push. Its exactly what I would do because its not going to do this team any good, with new free agent faces and young rookies expected to contribute being subjugated to situations where police and journalists will be pressing them for information about fellow teammates which could damage what the team is trying to accomplish. If that were to happen there would be a lot of finger pointing in the locker room and bad blood and that is how you finish 6-10.

McKelvin and Hardy - rookies of the year

WTF???

The team had one of the worst offenses and worst defenses in the league so they get a day off after 15 ‘good’ practices? They could have had 15 superb practices and still not had an excuse to take a day off…..particularly when they have 42 days off until training camp.

Marv, you may be on to something. If the Bills who were in the vehicle have plans (or have plans now) to go out of state for the next six weeks what can the DA do about it? While I can see the DA convening a grand jury just because he’s miffed I can’t see him sending someone to the Grand Caymans to serve papers to one of the Bills-in-hiding. But didn’t the cops send someone to OBD yesterday?

Could be anything...

It may be the fact that tomorrow is supposed to be 88 degrees and possibly thunderstorms… with that high temp/humidity, could be the possibility of heatstroke.

Also – Bills signed Reggie Corner today. Two draft picks down!

Yeah, but....

2 other draft picks (Hardy, Johnson) seem to have been in Lynch’s SUV when he last drove it.

I agree with DJ

I seriously doubt that cutting one practice will make the difference of being a playoff team or being a typical bills team like last year, and before that, and that, and that , and that, and that, and that. . .and that. Obviously this can’t be a trend but I think dispersing the team given the current situation is a pretty good idea. A little time for everything to cool off will defianatly.

Ending Camp Early

I’m of the opinion that ending the camp early will not have any affect on the team with regards to getting better. There is only so much you can do in shorts and a jersey. Teams make strides during the pads portions of practices.
The rookies have a base of knowledge to work off of, now they have to show their abilities with the pads on come July 25th.

cuts and a day off

Drone was one of the least likely players on the roster to make the team and wasn’t at all surprising.

Teyo Johnson does surprise me. Didn’t the Bills give him a two year contract? They must have intended for him to at least compete for a roster spot this season. He is easily the most athletic TE the Bills had on the roster and he must have been very dissapointing to be cut this early.

Juaron didn’t cancel tommorrow’s practice because of the weather or because they earned it or anything of the sort. How can DJ be considered soft for not wanting his players to have to answer to police and reporters about Marshawn all day. As a coach the only thing that matters this time of year is getting the players physically and mentally ready for training camp. Distractions kill team chemistry and lower concentration and work ethic. DJ did the right thing by keeping his team as seperated from the Marshawn case as he possibly could.
