Now Taking Nominations...
Hey Rumblers,
As a continuation of our "Best of the Bills Team" assembly, I'm now taking nominations from the community for all offensive line positions. Since this position can't really be defined statistically - and since I'm a mere 22 years old and don't have quite the knowledge of the team's history that I'm sure many of you possess - I'm deferring to y'all on this one.
The obvious names for candidacy include, in my mind: Will Wolford, Kent Hull, Billy Shaw, Ruben Brown. There may be other obvious names I'm missing, which is why I disclaimed that list with "in my mind".
We'll be splitting this up into tackles, guards and centers, so we need at least 4 candidates for guard and tackle, and 3 for center. I look forward to hearing the names you all suggest. :)

“House” Ballard. Can’t remember if he played G or T, but he was pretty good for us.

He was our right tackle during the Super Bowl years.
Will Wolford – Jim Ritcher – Kent Hull – John Davis – House Ballard

That would be my line up
If I was going to put together a team of our best lineman.

Ritcher over Shaw, a Hall of Fame guard?

I never had a chance to see Shaw enough
I saw lots of Richter, but not enough of Shaw to really make a choice between the two. Richter was a solid player, better than Brown was, but I can’t say I’ve seen enough of Shaw to vote him.

Stats
I wish the NFL did have a system for grading linemen individually. Good/great linemen can go completely unheralded because they have craptacular linemates. On the flip side, some fairly average guys can go to the Pro Bowl because they play alongside some good/great linemen….which generally means their team went deep into the playoffs which always helps grease the wheels for a paid trip to Hawaii.

I would go with
Guards:
Joe D
Billy Shaw
jim Richter
Ruben Brown
Tackles:
Will Woolford
Stew Barber
Dick Hudson
Joe Devlin
Center:
Kent Hull
Al Bemiller
Will Grant
I would steer away from putting Howard Ballard on the ballot. He was only in Buffalo for a few seasons, granted Super Bowl seasons, but he would get too many votes based on how familiar he is.
Others to consider would be Reggie McKenzie (G), Dave Foley (T), Donnie Green (T), Mike Montler ( C ).
I would consider putting 5 guards on the ballot. McKenzie played a lot of quality years with the Bills. I guess he wouldn’t have a chance at hell in winning, but I think he deserves to make the ballot at least.
I should point out that I am pretty young and didn’t see some of these guys play. So opinions from people who actually saw them play would be very appreciated.

ignore me
I was thinking that Ballard wasn’t around for long because he was only here for a couple of Super Bowls, but I just realized that he was here for awhile before the Super Bowl runs. Ballard was a Bill between 1987 and 1993.

I like Kaiser's list
And also agree that McKenzie should be on it…
Is Peters too young to make the list???

I am with Kaiser's list
Cinga – Peters???? I hope you are joking. If he gets a new contract and continues to play at a high level for a few more years, then OK. But not now. Maybe I am just pissed at him for missing mini-camp. I think that he could have a little faith in a team that had faith in him when nobody else did. I guess two years is a lifetime in the NFL.

My OL would be...
Devlin – DeLamielleure – Hull – Shaw – Wolford
Hull is a guy they should be talking about for Canton and Montler was probably one of the great unrecognized linemen of his era.
