Finally!!!
Marshawn has at long last released his statement regarding what happened that fateful morning. We had heard reports of the dancing girl and he states that this was the person who captured his attention. Understandable to me.

I won't say whether his reasons or valid or not, but I have no choice but to accept them. If they're good enough for the DA, who am I to argue? I can certainly see, if the circumstances are accurate, how he might not have realized what happened. This is likely why things progressed so slowly, rather than going directly to the authorities like many have suggested he should have done. If he honestly didn't realize what had happened, do you think the police wouldn't have tried to trip him up in some way to give the appearance he may have? Instead, he let his lawyer do what lawyers do and gather all available information and compare that to what the authorities have. I don't see how this could have turned out any better for Marshawn and the team. And I have no doubt Ms. Shpeley will get restitution in some significant form. Arguably, he shouldn't have put himself in the situation to begin with, but the handling of it after the fact couldn't have been done better, IMO.

Outcome from the league...
I think it’s pretty unlikely that he’d get a suspension after this. This sounds more like an accident report now than anything else. Especially hearing the quotes from Goodell; it sounds like he was thinking if Marshawn should be suspended rather than how long.

its over
no suspension, no way. Gosder Cherilius, DeJuan Tribble, Jordan Dizon, Brandon Jones, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Marshall, Dwayne Jarrett, Bryant McKinnie, and Cedric Benson are all under more scrutiny than Lynch, maybe excepting Dizon who committed his DUI six days before the draft. Some of these guys like Brandon Marshall, Bryant McKinnie, Gosder Cherilius (who broke a guys neck in a bar fight!), Ahmad Bradshaw (who is in jail) and Brandon Jones are already actually being investigated or Goodell has said will likely be investigated by the league. Lynch will not be suspended, especially with Goodell’s plate full with these guys. Its over. Time to move on.

Agreed
Goodell has his hands full with guys with much more serious charges and issues. It would be outrageous if Marshawn draws a suspension for this. This should be the last we hear of it until there’s a decision one way or another for a civil suit (fingers crossed).

exaclty
the only question now appears to be whether Marshawn can settle this thing out of court or if it goes to a civil suit. What do you think? How much money should Lynch’s lawyers offer Shepley to keep this out of court?

My bet is somewhere between 50k and 100k
That’ll be the pay range so to speak for her accident, since she is Candian she has health care, so the costs won’t be as high as they would be. But her lawyers will claim a large amount for that anyway. Most of the money will be for and I quote “Pain and suffering” so how come I can’t sue to the government for pain and suffering every time I go to the gas pump?

Not sure if I agree with you guys here...
Sure Goodell is dealing with a bunch of other player misconducts. And some are much more serious than what happened with Lynch. But it’s not like he has a set limit on the amount of players he will discipline. Sure, past precedence will determine somewhat if any discipline may be warranted. But, Goodell still has the power and authority to do what he wishes if he thinks an action goes against the player conduct policy.
I wouldn’t exhale yet if I were Lynch and company.
As far as the "buyout" goes, I think 50 to 75 sounds about right. I hope she doesn’t play the "emotional trauma" card.

He got a ticket
and was not arrested. On what ground could Goodell suspend him then?
The linked report is basically Lynch and the police agreeing he didn’t know he had hit her and that he regrets what did occur.
Nothing Goodell is going to do here.

Lynch's statement
The bit about not realizing that he had struck anyone or anything just doesn’t ring true. How many times have you left pieces of your vehicle on the road without realizing that something happened?
No jury (civil in this case) is going to buy that so the lady will get a load of cash. A small amount of the award will be actual damages. A good chunk will be for the obiligatory ‘pain and suffering’ and the rest will be awarded because the jury will likely believe that Lynch lied in his statement.
I’m glad that the legal aspect of the case seems to be completed. Like Krytime, however, I will believe that Goodell won’t suspend Lynch when Lynch starts playing games.

Ron, you and I must sound like broken records to some....
I’ll state this one more time – I hope Lynch and the Bills are being proactive on this, unlike what they have seemed to be so far. I hope they have been in regular contact with the league office (ie – Goodell), and I hope they have made an offer to render some sort of restitution, whether it be through charitable donations, or “voluntary” community service. Basically, anything to appease Goodell and his possible “wrath.”
Now, if I were an “advisor” in the Lynch posse, I’d suggest he ask JP if he could take over/continue the “BuffaloLives.org” project. From what I heard, JP spent about 20gr of his loot on that (Again JP – nice job. Thank you.) That’s still way cheaper than losing a game check due to suspension, and it would build/restore some goodwill/class that’s no longer associated with his name.
Is this a ridiculous idea that I’m proposing?
Throw in a couple of freebie public service announcements with MADD or a similiar organization, and then there would be no way Goodell would think about yanking his jersey for a game or two.

Met her on my CB, said her name was Mimi
Sounded like an angel come to Earth
(Come to Earth)
When I went to meet her
man you should’ve seen her
Twice as tall as me, three times the girth
(girth)
Oh my fat baby loves to eat
(loves to eat)
A big ol’ Buddha belly
and her breasts swing past her feet

My fat baby loves to eat
