Bills Training Camp, Day Two: Open Thread
Day one of 2008 Buffalo Bills training camp is in the books, and the Bills hit the practice field once again at St. John Fisher College about a half-hour ago. To this point, a few things remain clear this morning: Jason Peters and Leodis McKelvin are still not present for today's two practices; DT Kyle Williams, meanwhile, has returned to the practice field after missing yesterday's session due to the birth of his second child.
Please use this as an open thread for any rumors/updates you hear throughout the second day of Bills training camp. We'll provide a summary of the day's action later on this afternoon. Go Bills!

Off to Camp
Hey folks—hope you all are having a great summer, and are as pumped as I am now that Camp has begun. I’ve not posted here since the Draft, but am as always, keenly interested in all things Bills. I will be heading up to St. Johns Fisher next week for four full days, and promise to report with observations, opinions and “inside the ropes”” insites from OBD on my return next Sunday nite.

sweet
Geronimo,
First off a little known fact about me. When I was born I had no name for 3 months. My grandma called me “geronimo” No lie.
Secondly, looking forward to what you see at camp. Most importantly I’m excited to hear how Hardy & McKelvin look. I think contributions from these two guys is crucial to our “playmaking” success and hope they are as good as advertised. That is if McKelvin can get his booty into camp.
I’m so stoked for this season. I believed that the Levy/Jauron regime would bring us back to prominence and year 3 is a huge year in that regard. If a winnings season is made that allows Jauron to stick around and go for year 4 which I think is even more critical to this organization’s success to have a consistent leadership. Go Bills!

No rumurs or updates here..
Just a quick musing. How many clients does Eugene Parker have right now, in negotiation? Aside from Peters, I see Jackson, Hester, Mendenhall (just signed – take that one back), both Cowboy 1st rounders, and God knows who else. That’s a lot of commission work for one man.
Is anyone of the opinion that things would have worked out by now if Peters had a different agent? I’m leaning that way. Assuming he focuses on the high profile guys like Jackson and Hester first, then the rooks to get them in camp, I’m thinking this Peters holdout will last much longer than any of us had hoped for.
Hopefully, it will not cause much more of a distraction. And to try and look at the bright side, it might mean more reps for some of the younger guys.
With that said, if I’m Parker, I get my PR machine running, and issue some sort of statement that portrays Peters in a more favorable light here. And, I would do this as soon as possible…

Steven Jackson, also holding out
is a client. Hines Ward, Walter Jones and Richard Seymour have also held out in the past under his “Agentism”. He also negotiated that crazy Larry Fitzgerald deal and for some reason represents Sex Grossman and Cedric Benson.

was Steven Jackson in your post. Woops

Also Sedrick Ellis
Ellis was the #7 pick – now the top unsigned pick, and he’s represented by Parker also. So he has three of the top four veteran holdouts, and three of the last draft picks to sign. His two Dallas first round picks did sign last night, so I’d guess Ellis is now his top priority.
After checking the first round signings this morning, it’s down to just four: Ellis, Harvey, Rivers, and McKelvin.

Don't pay Jason another dime
Hi all, I’m new to blogging but couldn’t sit back without making a comment. I have been an avid Bills fan all my life and have enjoyed the Buffalorumblings website, thank you very much. As far as the Jason Peters situation I wouldn’t pay him a single dime until he plays an entire season without a reoccurance of his groin injury. I seem to recall a great football player name Pryce Paup. I believe in 1995 he was defensive player of the year. The next season he played with a groin injury and was a shell of the player he originally was. I certainly hope this is not the case with Jason and he is fully recovered, but I would be shocked if the Bills paid him anything more without him proving he is fully healthy.

Peters had a sports hernia
though that would effect his groin, it wasn’t a groin injury. I don’t think there would be any reoccurrances of this injury.
Hope you start posting more my friend

Sports Hernia
Thank you for clearing that up for me. I’m still of the opinion he needs to prove himself coming off an injury and has very little leverage at this point. Great to Leodis has signed!!!!

Oh, I think we have to pay him, regardless of his injury. He’s too important to this offense to put off making him happy. He just needs to show up first.
Oh, and welcome to the site. :)
