McKelvin Signs, will practice Monday
Update: Terms of Leodis McKelvin's rookie contract have been released. it is a five-year deal worth up to $19.4 million if McKelvin reaches all of his incentives. He'll make $12.6 million in guaranteed money regardless. End Update
Per the Buffalo News, the Buffalo Bills and rookie cornerback Leodis McKelvin have agreed to terms on a contract. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed. McKelvin, who missed the team's first four practices of camp, will report for duty on Sunday.
This is excellent news and with only a few practices lost, McKelvin should be able to come in and not miss a beat after playing a bit of catchup.
PITTSFORD — The Buffalo Bills reached an agreement on a contract with first-round draft pick Leodis McKelvin this afternoon.
Terms were not immediately available. It's expected the deal will be for five years and will be worth roughly $3.6 million a year. McKelvin was the last Bills rookie unsigned. He was one of only four out of 31 first-round picks who had remained unsigned as of noon today.
McKelvin missed the first three practices of the summer. However, he will be in camp in time for the first practice in pads, to be held Monday.
Thanks UNCbills for breaking the news here in a comment in a previous thread.

Great News!!!
Now to extend Evans, then Crow…. I know I may get slammed for this, but Peters should be last…. Evans and Crowell have shown “team first” attitudes… Something Jason, and/or his agent don’t seem to care about….

No slam from me
You understand discipline and team, Cinga, as we talked about it on the other thread with Brian and poz. Make him wait!

Agree about Evans, but I’m not so sure on Crowell. I’ve mentioned in the past that there are rumors out there that Buffalo’s coaches aren’t in love with Crowell’s football smarts. Has he been productive? Certainly, but it also should be kept in perspective – Buffalo has had some very poor linebacking play in recent seasons. My guess is that Crowell’s camp will value him much higher than Buffalo will. Prediction: there will be negotiations, but Crowell won’t be back next year. You heard it here first.
And if push comes to shove, I’d rather be paying Peters and franchising Crowell (who I do like). I could be wrong on this, but I can’t name as many highly-paid linebackers as I can tackles and receivers, so franchising Crowell makes more sense to me. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, though.

No, I will certainly depend
on how much Crowell wants, and maybe next years draft?

Crowell
shouldn’t be paid much more than what Mitchell got. Even that would be debatable. To me, Crowell is your average, run-of-the-mill LB who wouldn’t be that difficult to replace. Maybe that’ s a little harsh, but he’s not really a stud at the position. Depending on how our holes next year are filled (DE, C, TE, maybe FS), I could see us going LB in round 1 or 2 of the draft. Maybe Ace Bowen can add a few more pounds and prove his worth this season as well…

IMHO Linebackers and Runningbacks are a dime a dozen. There really is no need to pay them a ton of cash unless they are really exceptional. I don’t consider Crowell as exceptional.
The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.

It is all relative to the other LBs you have
The Giants didn’t think Mitchell was worth what we gave him, but we consider him a upgrade and well worth the money.

Good points about Crow....
But at least for the last couple years, his help at LB has been somewhat lacking to say the least… Heck, at times it seemed he WAS our LB corps….
That said, Brian makes a good point… See how he meshes with Poz and Mitchell… If we can’t work something decent out, could always franchise him… Or move on…. Again…..

Let's see
how Crowell plays this season with a better supporting cast around him. I don’t think he’s worth elite money, either, but it would be nice to keep him for continuity’s sake.
Get the Bills back to the big game!
