"(Wire) has a facility down there – Most High Training," Corto said. "We were running in the creek, running up hills, and doing some really advanced training, like jumping up on balls and stabilizing ourselves. I’m in the best shape of my life. We had big medicine balls. When I first got there I wasn’t able to jump up and stand on it. By the time I left I could."

it really makes me miss Coy Wire. He was an easy guy to like and if he bounces back healthy somewhere he might make the Bills look kinda stupid for letting him go and trying to replace him with some rookie linebackers and Bryan Scott. We should’ve just left him at SS and let him back up Whitner and play special teams.
He signed with Atlanta, kaiser, last weekend. So he’s got his shot.

HUH?? Wire stunk for us and there’s a reason he was tried at LB….he couldn’t cover anyone as a safety. I don’t see how, in any way, cutting Wire was a mistake. The guy failed a physical and has been injury prone his whole career, a career in which he had very little impact defensively….

I agree
as a LB and Safety he should never see the field. Injuries forced the Bills to play him and he got exposed whenever there was a play around him. To his credit he was a fantastic special teamer and like the other Rumblers have said, a guy you can’t help but like. Wire won’t even come close to haunting us.
I liked Wire too.
He’s in my top ten Buffalo athletes of all time as far as charity work goes. Class act all the way.
I spoke with him a few times. He was a different bird. Not your typical pro athlete for sure…
let me clarify
I don’t think Wire will ever be considered a starter at safety or linebacker. I just think he was as good of a backup safety as Bryan Scott is. Add in his special teams value and I think Buffalo might have made a mistake in letting Wire go and bringing Scott back. If Wire bounces back healthy this year, he could make it pretty obvious, especially if Scott struggles.
