Tackles are dropping like flies
Matt Murphy and Patrick Estes were injured today.
And it continues. More and more reason for Brandon or whoever to fly out to Peters and get something done. Not that Murphy/Estes were going to challenge for a starting job, but the depth at the position is quickly dwindling. We absolutely HAVE to get Peters into camp ASAP. I really don't care what it takes at this point. And I also don't know what it will take for the front office to force the issue. They seem to think starting Kirk Chambers is an ok possibility at this point...
Also, for Thursday night, we could be looking at a full half and into the 3rd Q for Walker, and probably the whole game for Chambers, with Demetrius Bell as the lone backup. This is getting ugly, quickly. A roster move is probably going to need to be made to add another OT for the game Thursday, at the least. I'm thinking a guy like Matt Baker or Dustin Fox or Jon Corto are staring a pink slip right between the eyes...

What About Whittle
When we brought him in last year, the big deal was that he was flexible enough to play every position.
I want Peters too, but I still think the Bills have more leverage. I’m not rewarding someone for doing it the wrong way. Let him miss game checks. This offense sucks with him or without him. The two guys that went down weren’t going to change it. Play Whittle and Bell in preseason and pick somebody up. It won’t be hard to replace those guys.
Send Peters a message by signing Evans.

Less leverage
It’s sad, but these guys might have been injured if Peters were there, and yes, Peters may have been injured, but if it is minor, then he could sit the preseason and be back for the regular season. I just don’t see much else except to work with Peters and get him back.
Signing Evans might be fine to send a message, but what message is that, besides come to camp, and you still might lose a year of a lucrative deal. Peters may get what he wants with this rash if injury, because if Walker were to go down, or pull a hammy or anything it would be very , very bad
The Bills CAN win every game

It is already very, very bad.
Sure Walker looked o.k. filling in for a few series, but right tackle is undermanned with Chambers over there, and if one of them go down, look where we’re at.
Bills management is fumbling the ball. We’ve got enough issues on offense just getting our rookie receiver to remember what play it is and settling Edwards down. We don’t need this distraction. We do need Peters.
Where are all those Rumblers who kept reassuring us the Bills had the upper hand in this negotiation?

I don’t like the Bills trying to make a deal with Peters in a less leveraged position but at this point it has almost become a necessity. Peters better start answering his phone because he’ll have no one to blame but himself if he doesn’t negotiate at this point.

Butler
is a good stop-gap measure for now, but the Bills are skating on thin ice here at OT. Now would be nice time for Peters to play hero and show up for camp…
Get the Bills back to the big game!
