Trent Edwards got knocked knee to knee during the first play of an 11-on-11 segment and hobbled off to the trainers.
Edwards just went to the locker room with the trainers, who are looking at his right knee. He walked there under his own power. He didn't appear to be favoring it much.

Lovely. Why, oh why, can’t the NFL just shorten the flipping pre-season?

Just be glad that
Trent (and Marshawn) wears knee pads. I’m amazed at the number of players that don’t.

That tells me that it isn’t too serious, I won’t get too concered until I hear the prognosis.

Hopefully it was precautionary
knocking knees can be very painful too

Here's more...
Edwards went down and lay on the field for about 5 minutes as team trainers examined his right knee. Also joining Edwards was Bills chief operating officer Russ Brandon.
Edwards favored his right leg when he was helped up, and then walked with a slight limp as he was led to the team’s locker room at training camp in suburban Rochester. The extent of the injury was not immediately known. Coach Dick Jauron was expected to address the injury following practice.
That’s not as encouraging. 5 minutes on the ground? Yikes

Pretty funny that Brandon rushed out onto the field. Still got my fingers crossed…

ANother update
Chris Brown called it a Quad Contusion, which would be awesome I suppose.
LOSMAN SPEAKS: J.P. Losman spoke for the first time since after last season’s Jacksonville game after taking over first team reps in practice in the wake of Trent Edwards’ injury (quad contusion). We’ll have his full interview in the multimedia section shortly. Here’s a bit of what he said.

Quad Contusion, sounds a lot better than Torn MCL.

Lynch's knee was hurt too
Luckily that sounds like nothing…..
THIGH CONTUSION FOR EDWARDS: Following a practice in which Trent Edwards suffered an injury head coach Dick Jauron brought everyone up to speed on the details.
“Early in practice there was a minor collision in the backfield where Trent suffered a quad contusion,” said Jauron. “It was a pretty deep one so they took him in to treat it quickly and try to get it before it swelled. The collision was with Marshawn. Marshawn’s knee was a little bit sore, by the end of practice so we took him off too, but he finished the whole practice, but hopefully they’ll be fine as we move forward.”

If you're not convinced...
This guy needs to go as soon as possible. He decided to start talking again soon as the starter got hurt. Do you really want someone on your team with the attitude he is carrying around? JP you will never be a starter in this league, so either become a professional like Frank Reich or take your family, friends and agent and get out of town.

Well, sure, he talked to the media last night. The media always speaks with the first-string QB from the practice. He was probably made to.

Unbelievable
Hopefully this is just a scare, but it sure highlights how ridiculous it is to have Losman as the fallback option to Edwards after the franchise has benched him four times since 2005. You don’t potentially waste whole seasons merely for the sake of symbolically anointing your QB (especially when the fans have done their part in record numbers in terms of season tickets sales)…I swear this franchise asks for their misfortune sometimes.

Who would you have replaced Losman with?
Not exactly the cream of the crop out there each offseason…

ANYONE the Bills haven't benched 4 times already
…Rookie, veteran backup, someone else’s benched starter…that’s not my job. But when you read that headline and you think of Losman beginning the season as the starter, you realize the season is a waste.

So guys like Leftwich, Quinn Gray, Gus Frerrotte, David Carr, Todd Collins, Cleo Lemon, Joey Harrington, etc, etc, etc would have been better choices? Come on, Losman stinks, but he’s probably the best backup we could have gotten this offseason….

David Carr isn’t looking to bad in NY! At least all of those guys you mentioned would know their role.

David Carr is one of the worst QB’s in the league

So was Drew Brees and Trent Dilfer. Some people was starting to call Eli Manning a bust before last season. And like I said check Carr’s preseason stats with the Giants. With protection and weapons he’s not so bad. What is JP’s excuse?

Have you watched him?
I was at the Giants/Browns on Monday, and the guy is just brutal. He makes more poor throws than Losman ever made. I don’t care what preseason stats say, I’ve seen this guy enough with my own two eyes to know he’s terrible.

Carr was beaten to a pulp his rookie year and the year after in Houston. He’s still in shell shock and I doubt he will ever be a competent QB because of it.

Geez
I liked what i saw from Luke McCown in Tampa and Sage Rosenfels in Houston last year- I’d have worked like hell to land someone like that. Mark Brunell, Josh McCown, and Trent Green intrigued me before the draft as free agents. Joey Harrington and David Carr actually make more sense than Losman as they are similar in ability to Losman as failed first round picks with starting experience, but at least their benchings came elsewhere which gives them a fresh start in Buffalo. Drafting a QB in the mid rounds made sense too since Edwards was deemed good enough to start as a late third round pick his rookie season…You can’t tell me if Edwards were to be out for the year, it would have made sense to have Losman play out the season as the starting QB. I can’t stand the argument that they get a pass because no one’s available- if the job of the front office was to simply cherry-pick players that fall in your lap, you or I could do it. Their job is to fill needs and a fallback option for Edwards is a gaping need (as it has been since 2007 ended).
Never forget 56-10. Revenge.

Had this happen before in basketball
It is so painful it is ridiculous. When it happened to me I was rolling around on the ground like a baby for a few minutes, ten walked it off. It was during basketball and I had to stop playing, after a day or two i was fine. Luckily it was in the backfield, so it wasn’t “full speed”. Trent will probably be fine.
And, i think if they did shorten the pre-season, it would only be by one game. It is necessary to get players up to speed, evaluate talent, and prepare for the regular season.
The Bills CAN win every game

It did not look like that bad of a collision
Lynch sat out one play and was back at full speed. It was hard to tell with Edwards, but everyone gasped. JP looked horrible. He had one nice pass on a seam route and the rest were off target (I left camp at 8:30), so let’s hope Edwards is okay.

omg
i spend one night at the bar and this is what I come home too. Unreal. pft’s headline was “Edwards gets the Marshawn Treatment”
Comical, but not at the present time. I will say my prayers tonight
