Trade Jason Peters
Why in God's name don't the Bills just trade Jason Peters. It is obvious that he is unwilling to play for $3.5 million a year. For that same money, the Bills can get a below average tackle, which is better than nothing.
I am sure that there a lot of teams willing to make Jason Peters one of the highest paid linemen in the league. The Bills would also benefit since they would be saving money and getting rid of a headache. Then we can comfortably get back to the business of failing to make the playoffs again.

fair trade
Trading a pro bowl 26 years old LT for a “below average” tackle? They should be really, really desperate to make such a move. Besides, if Peters continues the holdout within the season, the Bills will actually save money, since he will not be paid. But most of all, wouldn’t such a move be perceived as surrendering (or lowering team expectations) by fans, players and other franchises?

You’re missing the most important point: the Bills are one of those teams. They’re just not going to do it until 2009, and not until Peters shows up. They want the guy here, so they’re not going to trade him any time soon – ESPECIALLY for a “below average” tackle. That’s not how the game is played in the NFL.

stole the words right out of my mouth....
I am so sick of this topic…not necessarily because of the holdout, but how the holdout is being conducted. The term “A closed mouth does not get fed” really comes to mind. I’m leaning more towards the injury or mental issues theory over dollars cuz this just don’t make cents (intentional play on words….)

If they did that...
Which they won’t, the Bills would go for something other than tackle, as they could probably get anything they wanted. I am not going to speculate as to what, but the Bills could get one of the best skill position players for one of the top 10 or top 5 tackles in the league.
This won’t happen however, and I think the Bills are doing good by holding strong. He should be at camp, practicing, doing well, and thats it.
One thing to note…the past week, while discussing another player, I think on the Eagles, who had the “sports hernia” surgery, they also mentioned LJ Smith who had the same surgery and that when he came back, he struggled, and it was not as easy a recovery as many here, and elsewhere, have noted regarding Peters’ surgery. I still could see some fishiness surrounding that surgery, and trying to get paid before he would be evaluated thoroughly. Fact is, if he came back today, I don’t think we see him til week 2

The problem is parker ,not peters
Jason Peters is an above up comming tackle in the nfl .He has 3 years remaining on his contract ,he can’t go anywhere .He will be fined 191,000 for each regular season game he misses .If the bills are not willing to waive the fines ,there will be no incentive to return ,but to hold out .This situation needs mediaton ,bills need there all pro tackle and jason needs to feel respected

Wow, so I could list a number of reasons why trading Peters is a stupid idea, but I will just throw one indisputable reason out there.
You don’t trade Jason Peters because his trade value will be higher next offseason than it is right now. Most teams rosters are set and there are only a few teams who are looking for a left tackle. Teams won’t be willing to give back what Peters is worth so close to the season.

Peters for Boldin and Levi Brown.
The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.
