It's one thing when overpaid athletes get little sympathy from fans, but Peters isn't getting much from his teammates, either. They're not saying much publicly, but behind the scenes they're questioning his common sense and timing. The guy has the potential to make $12 million over the three years he has remaining on his contract.
If anybody should have a beef, it's Lee Evans. He's accomplished more in his first four years than any receiver in Bills history. Rather than gripe about money, he's intent on making a stronger case for himself. By golly, the two sides are talking about an extension that would make Evans a very wealthy man.
See how it works?

I’ve been a proponent of giving Peters more money for a while now, but it has just gotten silly. How Peters expects to get a new contract without even speaking to the Bills is beyond me. I say hold the line Buffalo.

Right
Does he expect, the Bills, to offer a lucrative multi-deal contract to a player they haven’t even seen or heard from? That is an impossibility if, the non-communication we have heard of is true, which it seems to be. Then what, he shows up to sign? Maybe a good tactic, were to draw up a “mock” contract, one that is void if signed (basically meaningless) just to give Peters/Parker something to chew own, so as to open up the lines of communication.
Maybe that doesn’t make sense, but if the Bills want him there, they should do something.
BUT, on the other hand, I am an advocate for just saying F’em, and move on with the season like he doesn’t exist. I think it hurts him more than us, as it tarnishes his career. He is young now, but the more your out of football training, the worse you are as a player. With this hold out, he also stands a higher risk of injury upon a return, so the Bills would be stupid to give him a new deal until after this season. If he would have come to camp, and looked like an All-pro beast, that would have been something else
The Bills CAN win every game

Peters/Parker, that sounds an awful lot like Spiderman’s real name to me. Could be a nickname there….
If he still hasn’t contacted the team by week 1, he’s a complete fool.

Bucky as the voice of reason?
Whhaaaaaaat? And he didn’t say that Jason would play for $25/5?

Jason Peters is a moron
this we now know. What have many of us been saying from the beginning of this hold out? The man is not acting intelligently. He’s an idiot or he’s gone insane. That’s it.

I think he’s getting his advice from Marshawn Lynch’s lawyer… except this time it’s not the right advice.

“If anybody should have a beef, it’s Lee Evans.”
I don’t get that at all. Evans had a pretty bad last year and as I recall he did not make all-pro. I don’t know anybody who rates Evans a top 10 receiver in the league (although he as the potential to be one).
Peters, though, is considered by everyone to be the best player on the Bills and one of the very best offensive linemen in the league. The Bills are trying to make a lesson out of their best player which is stupid. They say that if they give into Peters then everyone else will want their contract rewritten after a good year. Wouldn’t that be a nice problem to have for the Bills. A flock of all-pro’s at the door wanting more money. Gee, I can only dream about nice problems like that.
This situation with Peters reminds me of the bad Ralph Wilson in the 70’s. He was cheap and stupid and the team was always one of the worst in the league.
So everyone who supports Bills management in the matter should also be able to take pride in the losing season the Bills are able to experience and be able to say “Sure we suck at football but the fiscal balance sheet for the team is looking good”

I’d be right on board with you, mikeh, if. Peters. Returned. Phone. Calls. But. He. Doesn’t.
The Bills might as well be trying to contact a brick wall for all the good it’s doing them. How, may I ask (again), is that their fault?!

ok. Help me understand this.
If Peters takes the Bills phone call and tells the Bills he wants his contract upgraded this year to something that matches his market value, will he continue to be a bad guy with possible mental problems. The Bill’s had said that they will not under any circumstances give him a new contract for the 2008 season.
Or am I misunderstanding something here. Will the Bill’s give him a market value contract for this year if only Peter’s answers the phone?
If Peter’s is not picking up the phone from the Bill’s, my guess, is that it is because he is not hearing anything interesting on the answering machine. Peters is probably not interested in arguments about why he should play for 3 more years at bargain rates.
So, given that scenario where Peters answer the phone and the Bills tell him that he must play under his current contract, who is then to blame if Peters says no?

They didn’t say that at first. At first, they said they wouldn’t negotiate until he showed up. Then they waited for three weeks. He wouldn’t talk to them. Then the Bills said that 2008 wasn’t negotiable. You’re lumping them together into one statement, but they were very clearly two separate statements. They gave him an ultimatum when he refused to speak with them.

And Peter's won't even talk to the Press
All holdouts work in the players favor each time when they discuss the issues with the press, but Peters and Parker won’t even talk to the Press. So how do we know 1- its about money, 2- why the hell would Parker ignore his best ally in this fight (e.g. the press?), Parker has been around the block, he knows the drill, Steve Jackson talked to the Press and he got a new deal.
So why is Peters being quiet and thinking that would work better? By talking to the press, Peters would be showing he is willing to get his needs/demands across, his refusal too forces us and the Bill to assume that like the last 3 times he got a new agent, he wanted more money. What if the issue isn’t cash, and is instead injury or mental/emoitional problems? Then his silence makes a hell of a lot more sense! He is damaged goods then, and the Bills would have no problem sticking him on IR for either one till he got whatever it is fixed, UNLESS he did something this offseason that would void his contract! Maybe he has a dead body buried in his back yard, I don’t know!
But until he opens his mouth and tells the world what the F*$K is going on with him, I say to the Bills “Hold your ground, and don’t give an inch till he shows up and performs with good faith for the entirety of the ’08 season.”
Fear the mighty helmet wearing gopher, he is coming for your soul....

Peters
This situation is half management fault .You could see it comming with large deals to kelsay ,schobel, williams, and butler (three of them prior to the end of there contracts).
Remeber how ralph wilson fired GM Butler . Lee Evan has been waiting for 1 year for a new contract .You need better communication and dialogue with your players .if langston walker doesn’t hold up at LT ,welcome to another losing season

“You need better communication and dialogue with your players.”
I guess I’ll keep repeating myself: how are the Bills supposed to maintain dialogue when, in Peters’ case, the player won’t open his mouth?

The problem with you argument which you keep repeating is that MONEY is what talks here. I guarantee you that after Peters is traded next year, you will see Peters happily talking as he signs a nice big contract with his new team. And Brandon will be crying like a little girl “How come he wouldn’t talk to us”?

That doesn’t even make sense to me. Peters isn’t talking because… he put all his fine money in his mouth?
They told the guy they’d negotiate when he got back. He didn’t show and wouldn’t talk. That’s on HIM.
