Monday Questions

If anyone would have told you right after the draft (or prior to for that matter) that this years’ class wouldn’t produce a starter two weeks into the season, would you have been surprised?  I think I would have been.

If McCargo doesn’t start to live up to expectations soon, is he trade bait going into the next off season?  If so, what’s he worth?  The team was patient enough with Youboty, and that move seems to have paid off for now.  I wonder what they’ll do; I can’t even guess…

I think I brought up the notion to extend Fred Jackson awhile back.  My thought is/was that it’d be cheaper to sign him sooner rather than later.  If I remember correctly, this was met with some resistance.

The money (21 million in cash to the cap room?) was needed to sign Peters, Crowell, and Evans.  Cross off Crowell.  You might even cross off Peters too.  Brandon won that staring match.  Evans certainly won’t eat up that much, so there is money to spare, and plenty of it.  Not only would I think of extending Jackson, but I’d consider trying to use some of that money on Youboty, Poz, McGee, Greer, and Edwards.  I know these guys have more than a year on their contracts, but I think it makes fiscal sense to lock up your good, young talent way before they hit the market, like they did with Butler and Williams.  I do understand the Bills operate under the cash to the cap philosophy, and I even admire that way of managing the cap.  But, if that is the preferred method, then they had better spend the cash to the cap.

I still don’t understand how an OL that big, and talented enough to do well in pass protection, can be so bad at opening up run lanes.

Rumors have if that DJ may be offered an extension soon.  I’d love to know if there is a provision of some sort to move him into the front office as he moves forward during his tenure here.  Also, if he does get extended, would it make sense to try and extend some of his coaches (OC, DC, ST) as well?

Barring an injury, does Steve Johnson have a chance at playing this year?

Is there any chance Losman gets traded before the deadline?  If you were GM, and someone offered you a decent pick, would you take it?  Assuming Edwards is completely healthy at the time of the imagined offer, I’d think about it.  I wouldn’t settle for anything less than a late third/early fourth though.

How has Crowell not had a surgery yet?  What is going to happen with him?

Did Eugene Parker have anything to say after the Peters’ holdout ended?  If so, I didn’t hear it.  Quietest “big name” agent I ever heard.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
