Vic Carucci puts Bills atop AFC?
I know that Vic might be a little biased, being a native of the Buffalo area--but even I was surprised to see his latest edition of his weekly rankings. Vic put the Bills at number 5, behind the Cowboys, Giants, Packers and Panthers--all of the NFC. As he states in his comment on the Bills, "With their next two games against Oakland and St. Louis, the Bills can realistically ponder being 4-0." And, with the way some of the top AFC teams have been fairing (cough::San Diego::cough::Tom Brady) the Bills are in a better spot than they have been in years. And, I am ecstatic!

Insane. Not even close to being true. ESPN.com’s ranking of 10 is much more accurate, though still a little high, in my book…

Yeah we’re definatly not even close to that level yet. I mean I’ve already seen so much more than what I was expecting but I got the feeling like right now with our two strong wins we’re somewhere from 9-12.

I wouldn't say.....
we are definitely not on that level. We may not know based on only 2 games as our body of evidence. To say that we can’t be compared with the top 5 teams in the league is just as much an OPINION as saying we are.

i hate
rankings. They do nothing for me. I just want to see the Bills beat the Raiders this weekend. We need to stack wins here early cuz that late season schedule is a fierce one

I'm generally not partial to rankings.....
But it sure is nice to see the Bills back in the top ten again! Remember the good old days? Remember when you would see Bills players amongst the league leaders at every statistic? Kelly, Smith, Reed, Thomas….

Nice but not warranted
I think while the Bills are playing good efficient football, i don’t see them as tops in the AFC, just yet. Until we can beat one of the best teams, that remains to be seen. Although the Jags are very good and tough at home, they didn’t seem it, and maybe we are really good, but I am hesitant. After the bye against San Diego, that’s when we’ll see how we stack up. Even though San Diego is 0-2, they might be the best 0-2 team out there.
Also, we are nothing until the ground game shapes up. Yet again, the west coast offense, or any derivitive of it, does not exactly look to produce 1500 yard rusher or pound the ball. Its more about timing short passes and runs for that matter and taking advantage of the other team’s weaknesses. Both the Jags and Seattle are good against the run, or at least were last year, and Lynch gets a D against both, and is a threat to be reckoned with. Perhaps they are stacking the box, but i’m not sure.

The Bills two opponents were a combined 21-11 last season. The Patriots two opponents were a combined 8-24 last season and frankly don’t look like they’ll be much better. The Bills already have beaten the two teams that early in the schedule were supposed to give them trouble. The only other AFC team that has looked this impressive so far are the Steelers.
Give ’em the ranking.

Jags I understand, but Seattle just barely won, wait a second I think they lost, a shootout with San Francisco. Even the Jags however, were weak upfront on offense and have crap for wrs. I am just trying to be realistic before I crown the Bills top team in the AFC. The Steelers have looked more impressive, and Denver has to. While Denver beat up on Oakland, which is what a good team does, they also went tit-for-tat with San Diego in their win over them, which with or without the bad call in the end, was a game they were able to win.
Let’s just see what happens week 7, here against the Chargers. This is a team that has routinely (allbeit a couple times) beat up on us in the past few years, and this is the time we give it back

While watching Dallas vs Philly on MNF
I remember thinking…..No way the Bills are playing at this level. But very few team have played at the top of their game each week, thus the elusive perfect season. This is not hockey or baseball. Get to playoffs and anything can happen. Rankings mean nothing, just a little fun to get people talking.
