Bills bring back LB Costanzo - Buffalo Bills
Kurupt called it, and we all knew he was right. The Buffalo Bills have filled Angelo Crowell's roster spot by re-signing special teams ace Blake Costanzo, whom they cut this past Saturday.

Is this good or bad?
Frankly, I don’t see us getting anyone new this offseason, so we’ll have to just let it ride.

Good for ST's
useless to the D, which is what concerns me. If Mitchell or Ellison goes down, do we put Costanzo or Corto in there, or swing DiGi to the outside? I don’t want the two C’s out there that’s for sure. I would have much rather brought in a player who could help on D, as well as ST’s. It is possible that this is a temporary signing, although unlikely. Because it’s 2 day before the game, maybe the team just wanted to get someone they were comfortable with on ST’s in for a week or two while investigating other options??? Who knows. This is messy,
Blake Costanzo for 16 games or Angelo Crowell for 12 games. What would you guys take?!??

My preference
would be to swing DiGi to the outside. I think he’d do fine.

Bigger at LB
I think we all agreed we needed to get bigger at LB to help stop the run this past off-season. The loss of Crowell and our current replacements clearly do not help that problem. As listed on CBS sports:
Mitchell – 253 Crowell – 246 Poz – 238
Costanzo – 235 Ellison and Dig – 229

Well we are still bigger
Last year we had DiGi and Ellison in the lineup for most of the season, with Crowell. Now it’s Ellison and two bigger guys in Poz and Mitchell. I don’t think size will be as big of an issue this year, I’m just concerned about Ellison actually being able to shed some blocks.

Across the board, yes
but the 17 lbs of muscle we lose going from Crowell to Ellison will be missed on our left side. I am guessing we will see the Hawks running to the right a lot.

Size, experience...
… they could sign Takeo Spikes! (yes, I’m joking)

Plus
I think Poz probably added some poundage, or at least some strength. I just hope that Ellison, or whoever ends up in there if he fails, can hold the point of attack, get in the gap, and not blow assignments

Crowell didn't have the surgery, seeks second opinion.
According to Dick Jauron, Crowell decided to get a second opinion instead of having the surgery. WTF? Why didn’t he weigh that option before he informed the team that he was going to have it. Kaisertown, Kurupt, do you still think his intention wasn’t tactical?

Well isn’t it possible that the team doctors found more than what Crowell bargained for and recommending reconstructive surgery? Now he wants to make sure that’s the way to go?
Getting a second opinion, to me, means the injury is a lot worse than a 2-4 week thing….

What? Why would getting a second opinion lead you to think it is tactical? I don’t understand how you can think this at all. Crowell doing this bucause he wanted a contract extension makes zero sense to me. Literally, it couldn’t make any less sense to me.
I’m sorry, but your going to have to spell out your theory to me yet again. I believe it goes something like: Crowell was unhappy with his contract. He decided to get surgery because he wanted to miss the first few weeks of the season so that the Bills realized how valuable he is. Something like that?
I seriously couldn’t understand it any less.

Interesting
At least give him a look. I am not comfortable with what we have at the position right now. Digi and Ellison are good back-ups, with a good amount of experience, but we need somone who is a little bigger to shed blocks and clog up the gaps. Not to mention someone we can feel comfortable with in coverage. Granted, most of the players who fit that description are already on NFL rosters, but there has to be someone other than what we have.

Colvin has been a 3-4 outside pass rusher for the last few years of his career. I’m not sure if he has the coverage skills to be a starter anymore, but he is definitely worth a look. Rocky Boiman is an interesting name for me too.
