Keeping Perspective

I look at this past win on Sunday and I instantly remember 2003-04. I remember how the Bills came out against the Pats and shut them out in a total dominating win. I want to believe that this team is capable of ousting the Pats from atop the AFC East throne...but I need to see more. If there is anything to learn from judging a team after week one its this: It makes no sense...its not how you start its how you finish.

The Bills have not beaten the Pats since that opening weekend in 2003... until they do unseat New England I will not begin to declare us as the toast of the East. There is way too much football to be played, I learned that in 2003. You can look like a contender coming out of the gates and reading articles from Vic Carucci about how the Bills have that "Super Look Again" but I focus on the holes in the game.

If Buffalo seriously wants to be an elite team and surpass NE it better shore up that run blocking, or Marshawn will not make it through the year if he has to fight like a rabid dog to pick up a measly yard. This O-Line is massive (I know Peters didn't play, but he did play last year and the line had the same issue) and it should be able to dominate however Buffalo ignored the one position I had hoped they would address in the draft CENTER!!!! Fowler has been sub-par for years now, and he is the sole weakness of the front 5....Good teams will exploit him and Buffalo should have noticed by now the guy gets blown up by elite tackles.

One other thing I noticed...our offense only scored 14 points. Now that is not as bad as it may sound, here is why. This is a young team with a second year QB at the helm that had spurts of struggling last year and didnt play the last two preseason games. He finally made some plays but no dumb mistakes. He also was playing in adverse weather (we knocked him last year for playing horribly in bad weather) that slowed down both offenses, yet he progressed and that is what you want to see. I didn't want to see this team bust out and throw the seahawks around and score at will, I wanted to see them struggle and fight to score. A team peaking too early in the season, especially a young team, will fizzle out come January and the Bills are nowhere near peaking. So hope builds that if Buffalo can peak at just the right time....the only game that really matters is not too far out of the question for this team. I don't know about the rest of you but I only want one thing and that's the Lombardi Trophy.

Before we even start thinking of that (yeah I know but you can't help but dream) there is an entire season that must be played and a playoff spot that must be earned. Then playoff games that must be won...and the most elusive win of them all finally captured by a much deserving franchise/owner & fanbase. So Bills fans take it all in...and enjoy the ups and downs of this year because you never know where fate can lead your team, just ask the giants fans.

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Yawn

just kidding. Look, I understand that it is one game and one win but I am going to celebrate this win. Honestly, I am not worried about winning the Super Bowl this year. I think the Bills are a year away from becoming a true threat. I want growth this year, some development. QB, RB, WR, and O-line look to be together for a while, our defense looks to be coming together. This team has a bright future and this is just the beginning.

Yo I'd be content with a 6th seed

Don’t get me wrong a Lombardi trophy would be nice, very nice in fact, but right now I would settle for finishing 2nd or hell even 3rd in the AFC east if it at least means we make the playoffs. My next goal after the 6th seed would be finally winning the AFC east for the first time in a gagillion years. Then I suppose a playoff win would be pretty sweet. If this is the beginning of something good I’m not expecting even a super bowl appearence for another 5 or 6 years

"Where else would you rather be than right here, right now?"
