Many NFL coaches don't know the right call to make in crunch time - ESPN The Magazine
For those of you who haven't had enough fuel for your anti-Dick Jauron fire, here's a highly interesting article about clock management. Strangely, Jauron isn't mentioned once - in good or bad light.

Because no one cares about the Bills or Jauron.
We’re a complete afterthought in this league. ESPN probably thinks he was fired.
The Bills are mentioned twice.
Apparently, Buffalo was one of a handful of teams to buy a book on clock management from some Harvard MBA.
Also, the Losman fumble in New York is mentioned, but only as a slight to Eric Mangini. Jauron isn’t faulted there. Probably because that decision had little to do with clock management.

It appears that the Bills did buy the book and didn’t read it. Mabye it was too hard to understand.
this is a very good article and well written. I like the points about Bellichek and Fisher. Bellichek leaves no stone unturned in his effort to dissect the game and understand every nuance.
everything goes better with a BIG MACK

i
have never bought into the dick jauron game mgmt thrashing. I know there are blunders, but its not like he would be winning many more games because of it.
Now if only someone would write a book on how you have to have one voice and a GM to run a franchise and that “inner circles” only work for secret societies and not running NFL franchises.

What?
I can think of three this year alone. The Jets with JP’s roll out, the Browns with running up the gut 3 straight times and settling for a 47 yard field goal in sh!tty weather, forgetting the third TO and running the ball with no timeouts left against the Pats. 2 out of 3 of those directly played a part in a loss. Toss in an non-existent first half 2 minute drill just about ever week and we left a ton of points on the board.
