Busting Out the Delorian
I know many of you are new to the site within the past six to eight months or so. Our readership has grown pretty steadily within that time frame, so many of the faces posting and reading here these days are "newbies" - and since you're of that status, welcome!
Over the next couple of weeks or months (I have not currently scheduled a timely manner for these posts to go out), I'm going to be writing up some FanPosts outlining how everyone here can better make use of the SB Nation 2.0 platform that Rumblings currently operates on. (Not that you guys don't do a terrific job already.) But before I do that, I wanted to go a little Doc Brown on everybody today.
Anyone using Rumblings these days can explore the Archives to check out every single post I've written since I started blogging here on April 7, 2007 - the day the blog itself was born. But as crap-tastic as my writing was back then - seriously, make fun of me, it's deserved (not that it isn't now, too) - you still don't get the experience. It's just plain not SB Nation 1.0, our original blogging platform.
You guys have it made. SB Nation is the top sports blogging platform on this little planet of ours, and it's easy to become an active member/reader not just of this blog, but every other quality blog here at the Nation. The same writing quality was prevalent even while SB Nation was using its initial platform, but the cool tech features just weren't there.
I wanted to share this with everyone because not only is it amusing to read through some of that stuff - it's a pretty good laugh, or at least it was for me - but to prove to everyone just how good you have it here at Buffalo Rumblings and at SB Nation.
Without further ado... Buffalo Rumblings 1.0. Ah, nostalgia.
This FanPost was written by a registered user of Buffalo Rumblings. Its views do not necessarily reflect the views of Rumblings' editorial staff, but are just as valued as our own.

The main blogger’s writing grows stronger every morning, the web site is strengthened by updated features, the readership gains interesting voices and fresh ideas, and the team…not so much.

Well shucks, Ben, that’s awful nice of you. And yeah, the team sucks! :(

haha
take a look at the fan post section (formally called the “diaries” section). I didn’t realize Geranimo had been around these parts for that long. I remember that piece I wrote about Poz btw, that thing was like ten pages long!!
BTW, i still like the old platform. It was simple, but in a good way! Not to say I don’t like all the bells and whistles on this one, but it took some getting used to!

i thought it was funny when they were called diaries
like we were writing down our secret feelings about the Bills or something. There was nothing diary about those writings haha
Kawika Mitchell is a leader. He will help this young team develop.

If anyone’s interested, you can do this for literally any website out there: http://web.archive.org
As an example: The official Bills site throughout the years. The 1997 one cracks me up.

Wow those old ones even take a while to load, just like they did in the dial up days!

has come a long ways
i think i signed up one of the first days it popped up and have been addicted ever since. The new format is so much better tho. Now if we could talk about playoffs, contract extensions, and super bowl aspirations instead of coach firings, terrible pass rush and 9 years without playoffs! Great job SB Nation and Brian for your tireless willingness to talk all things and everything bills related

I do enjoy going to other team sites and reading the posts. I like the Buffalo Range too but this site is the sanest, most intelligent Bills site in the universe. I just watched for a while before starting to post and it has been fun to watch this site grow. Brian, the Triumvirate and Ron should all give yourselves a bit pat on the back. Raise a brew, crew, you do a great job.

marshawn
a young fred taylor? crazy, didnt remember that comparison. taylor has had a great career, but their styles are so very different. 1.0 is funny to look back on, still like that set up though.
i remember getting in on the rumblings before the draft that April. really didnt want to draft a RB in the first round and was adament against poz at 12 as i felt he was the great white hope/hype. still dont love poz, but he has been solid and marshawn is a monster.
regardless, good to look back at, forgot what the layout even looked like.

I particularly like the part in the Marshawn’s Strength’s section where it says by no means will he push the pile. Meanwhile, where hindsight is 20/20, it’s precisely what Marshawn does best.
I also remember the days when Rumblings came out, and it was such a small site at the time that the web filter at my office didn’t block it. Since it has grown I can no longer look at work and have to wait till the evening to check the Bills’ news and changes.

Hopefully you won't have to resort to drug dealing to keep Rumblings afloat....

Haha, I had totally forgotten the first platform. I’ve tried remembering what it was in the past. Now I remember that good, old thing! I enjoyed that because it was so simple to use, but then again, this platform is simple to use and has so many more features.
And for any lurkers out there, please start posting!
