Scott Pitoniak: It's time for Bills to force the issue and go deep
"I've grown tired listening to Trent Edwards and Lee Evans and Dick Jauron and everybody else at One Bills Drive drone on about the limited number of opportunities they've had to throw the ball deep. Hey, sometimes you have to make your own opportunities and do the dictating rather than allowing the defense to dictate what you do."
OT Scott is Bell’s likely replacement – Inside The Bills
"Even though veteran Kirk Chambers stepped in for Demetrius Bell when he injured his groin in last week’s game, RT Jonathan Scott is technically the team’s swing tackle. So if Bell, who did not practice Wednesday, cannot go Sunday in Miami, it’s likely that Scott will man the blind side with Chambers at right tackle."
Bills will attack Dolphins : The Buffalo News
The Dolphins have been giving up long pass plays like waves hitting the beach the past two weeks. The Bills had all kinds of trouble getting the ball to wideouts Lee Evans and Terrell Owens in two of their first three games.
Nic Harris at safety not a bad idea – Inside The Bills
I don’t know if there’s a way to do it, but if they can get Harris on the field in some obvious run situations, at 6′2″ 232 I like him in the run front a lot to help neutralize the Wildcat attack. Harris can run and hit and the Dolphins are a smash mouth attack. With his safety background he’s also capable to covering a tight end. He’d almost be like a fourth linebacker out there.

The Bills may have some chances to resurrect the long ball against Miami. The Dolphins are last in the league in yards per completion (15.46) on defense according to Stats, Inc. "Hopefully we can," QB Trent Edwards said. "They've shown a little vulnerability (with) giving up those big plays."

"Guys, all I can say is that I’m working hard, we’re working hard as a team, and I have to make the best of the opportunities that come my way," Owens said. "I don’t know (why teams have been able to take him away). You guys see the game, I can only do what I can do."

Why leadership is tricky for Owens – Inside The Bills
"It is very frustrating because I think that some of the guys and the coaches want to me step up and be more vocal and say things as a leader," said Owens. So yeah getting really sick of all the stuff written about T.O. I wish the writers could focus on other stuff. Reading the same article from 12 different points of view is grating on me. I’m not sick of T.O., I’m sick of them covering him.

I like how you preference the link by saying, “It’s full of doom and gloom”. It’s actually full of facts. Not one thing that he wrote was doom nor gloom. It was pure fact.
The bottom line is that this team stinks and hasn’t made the playoffs for the last 10 years. There is no silver lining to this cloud at all. As long as Ralph, John Guy, Moderak, Brandon and Jauron are around this team will be doom and gloom.

- Why people think Trent Edwards has a bright future in this league is beyond me. He played a very good game against Tampa Bay, mainly because they suck.
Yeah it’s perfectly factual to say that Trent doesn’t have a bight future in the NFL after one bad game and two good games this season. Man what was I thinking?
I’m really tired of hearing Evans say in the locker room after losses that there were opportunities to make play.
What does he expect them to say? “We had no opportunity so why bother.”?
Yeah he provides some good facts but just like many around here his knee jerk reactions and opinions are off the cuff and entirely negative.

Exactly. He’s really tired of hearing Evans say those things, yet pines for Terrell Owens to basically say the same thing.

Hey Matt,
Trent Edwards has beaten exactly 1 team w/ a winning record in his 2.5 years as a starting QB. What exactly has he done in the 2.5 years to make me think that there is hope w/ him.
by Michael_Necci on Oct 1, 2009 1:25 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well, yes, Trent has been the starting quarterback but you can hardly blame him for some of those losses. He beat both the Broncos and Chargers last year, with a masterful game against San Diego’s defense I might add, and the Cargers were a playoff team. He has shown flashes of being very good but also negative flashes. He is inconsistent. Peter King thinks he is an up and comer in the league and Sal disagrees. That’s fine. We’re allowed to have differing opinions but don’t call it fact when it very clearly is not.

Scott Pitoniak is dead on. I’ve felt that way for a long time now, this team needs to take it to the opposition instead of simply trying to take what the D gives them. No other team lets the defense dictate what the O does as much as Buffalo. I’ve watched bits and pieces of every game so far this year, and other than the crappy Rams, I’ve seen every other team throwing it downfield more often than the Bills. Edwards needs to start taking some chances and the O needs to doing more to push the defense.
The third article talks about the Bills hoping to attack the Dolphins downfield. I’d like to believe Edwards will be able to do it, but I’ll need to see it first. Just throwing a couple of 40 yarders down the sideline isn’t taking advantage of the vulnerable Dolphins. Over the middle and the intermediate sideline throws should be there against this team, as they have been all season. Edwards has to start taking advantage of the receiving talent he has and start making some more confident throws down the field. PLEASE!!!

Right on.
If Dallas Clark can catch a pass over the middle and run 80 yards on the poor-tackling Dolphins, Terrell Owens, Lee Evans, Shawn Nelson, or Fred Jackson can do the same.

I’m not exactly sure. Someone must have said he is rooting for OBD to fail or something.
When the Bills released him there was a lot of anymosity but I don’t think that persists. He moved back to Buffalo with his family and regularly appears at Bills events.
