An empty feeling this Sunday

As a huge Bills fan and season ticket holder I am writing this because I woke up with no anticipation for football on this day. I normally wake up around 8am, hop on my computer and read about the Bills game. Around 10am I turn on the TV and start to watch pre-game shows. The feeling of waking up on a Sunday is like no other. It's something we long for all spring/summer. Today was different. I opened my eyes and it felt like a Sunday in May. Perhaps its because reality has set in and all hope is gone for yet another season. Maybe its becasue I am torn on who to root for today. If the Bills win today what will that accomplish in the long run? I would like to think we still have a chance for a playoff spot but I refuse to go down that road for the umpteenth year in a row. Instead, as hard as it is for me to admit this, I want them to lose. I am already looking towards our future. We need to get a low draft choice to give us Buffalo fans some hope. Without a franchise quarterback we are only fooling ourselves. There are two quarterbacks in next years draft that have the franchise label, Bradford and McCoy. I know some people think Snead or Tebow is as well but only time will tell. To get one of the top two QB's we are going to have to have a pretty putrid record since St. Louis, Oakland, Cleveland, Washington and Carolina are also QB hunting. While we are looking towards the future, lets trade TO and Parish. It's time to rebuild and stockpile draft picks. With a bad record we should also get sweeping changes within the organization. I am still a Bills fan and will always be one but I want whats best for this franchise and this city. That would be a 3 to 4 win season. Am I the only one feeling this way today?

I agree with how you feel

but we are not out of the race yet, so until we are i want the Bills to win.

Even when are i will still want the bills to win because drafting a QB, more so i think than any other position, is a matter of luck. Of the four names you mentioned two will be Peyton Manning and two will be Ryan Leaf and there is no way of telling until they have been in the league for a few years.

Plus not supporting the Bills today would mean rooting for the Jets and who in their right mind would do that!

The past is fixed, the future is unknown, try dealing with the present!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how can you post this hours before the game?? Seriously, if you are going to post a thought like this do it any other day than hours before the game. Maybe you want us to lose but from where I’m sitting this division isn’t exactly stellar. If we win we are in one game of the lead and that will be to a team we had beat in week 1. Yuck! Of all the games, this is the one time you should be screaming until you lose your voice for this team to win. If you want to rebuild and wait another 3-4 years for a winner go right for it. We have a team that can win now if our oline and QB get their act together.

I bet you a beating on a Rex Ryan team will get this team going. You want this team to lose? In week freaking 6? BOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Simply, wow.

That comment is why we suck. No thank you to another 7-9 year. I am glad your not the GM! There is a thing called reality and hope. The reality is we have a team that is decimated by injuries and a QB that is playing almost as bad as Jamarcus Russell. I will say this, I hate the Jets and probably won’t root for anyone, but like I said, the best thing for the Bills in the long run is a loss. There is nothing wrong with having hope. I am just not there.

The season's never over

until we lose 8 games!! Keep the faith man. I know it looks miserable, but it can be done. Whitner and Poz are back today! They are gonna make Sanchez their bitch! Never. EVER. Ask for a loss. So what if we finish 7-9? Jauron is out anyways. At least we get to enjoy a few W’s along the way. The only thing a higher draft pick promises is that you’ll pay him more, and he’ll hold out longer!

my comment is why we suck?

I didn’t realize I had so much power!!

I sure am glad you are not the GM if you think losing games on purpose in week 6 is a good idea. “Hey fellas, gather round, the season is blown already so go ahread and don’t try”. Not sure how trying to win this year makes for bad strategy.

And I am not a GM, I am a fan and fans root for their teams to win! I can understand this post in week 16 but week 6??

I understand if you don’t have hope, I understand if you want us to have a top 5 draft pick, but don’t root for us to lose. Football comes around once a year and I cherish every victory.

There’s a distinct difference between expecting to lose, and hoping to lose. I think we are all not expecting too much from the Bills today, but that’s no reason not to hope for good things. Keep the faith Poz! Never cheer against your own team, NEVER!

I feel your pain

I feel your pain brother. The hopelessness is terrible. Only a miracle could save the Bills, and our future is bleak as well. One day as I caught a Colts game and saw Bill Polian smiling in the booth a little tear started its way down my face. A football legend Wilson let slip away. Who’s our GM now?

McCoy is a better QB than Bradford… and I agree our season is over. Is there any hope of a playoff birth? I think not… get Colt McCoy and move on… maybe Edwards can be a backup in Cleveland or someplace like that.

I’d draft Colt McCoy ….. in the fifth round. Honestly, I think he’s a joke of a prospect. He doesn’t have the arm strength to play in Buffalo and plays in a college system built around his strengths that would never work in the NFL. He’s overly reliant on his feet and is a first read and then check down type of passer. When the college season ends and ESPN stops talking about McCoy as the college QB and heisman candidate, you’re going to see scouts start to pick him apart. What about Colt McCoy makes you think he’s one of the two best QBs in the draft?

And no mention of Clauson or Locker?

If the Bills win today what will that accomplish in the long run?

Nothing, but what does losing accomplish in the long run? I know people are desperate to get Jauron out of town, but it’s going to happen regardless of today’s outcome. Buffalo would need to finish the season 8-3 or something that won’t happen for there to even be a discussion about Jauron staying. A loss today doesn’t start the rebuild process any sooner. So, don’t you at least want to watch the team play well? I’ll be cheering for Demetrius Bell to grow over the rest of the season, Shawn Nelson to make score some TDs, Jairus Byrd to make a few more picks like his great play last week, Maybin to come on strong, the rookie guards to open up some big running lanes, Donte Whitner to club some Jets and the other young players to show that they belong in this league.

You’re right that a win doesn’t accomplish much, but a loss doesn’t either. If this team can start playing better, it means that the players are playing better and considering that a lot of this roster is still going to be on the team next year, isn’t that important?

If there is anybody out there who thinks this organization, from Ralph Wilson right on down to Corey McIntyre is content and that the angrier the fans get, the better things will be next year, you’re delusional. This team is going to have major changes over the offseason regardless of what the fans think or want. Seriously, if there were massive don’t fire Dick Jauron rallies in Buffalo, it wouldn’t save his job. Get angry if it makes you feel better, but what needs to happen is so far beyond debate, that it won’t make a difference.

I signed up for Second Life about a year ago. Back then my life was so great that I literally wanted a second one. In my Second Life I was also a paper salesman and I was also named Dwight. Absolutely everything was the same. Except I could fly. - Dwight Schrute

I actually really like Locker.

Don’t want Bradford, too injury prone. McCoy does nothing for me. Clausen the same but he’s improved this year. I’m just not sure if it’s a flash in the pan year that often happens with college studs who didn’t live up to the hype.
