Source: Parrish is "finished" in Buffalo : Buffalo Sports Daily
Pat Moran of BuffaloSportsDaily.com, citing a team source, is reporting that Buffalo Bills WR Roscoe Parrish is "finished" in Buffalo.
BuffaloBills.com reported yesterday that WR James Hardy would return to the practice field this Wednesday. If the Bills can't trade Parrish prior to Tuesday's trade deadline, it appears the team may release him outright to make room for Hardy on the roster.

Interesting. I guess Fred Jackson is now the full time return man. That is good. One less locker room problem is good…I guess. I’d love to see Hardy on one side, TO on the other and Evans playing a slot…wes welker esq role on certain formations.

Another high round draft pick wasted
While I don’t think trading him is a bad move and we to get what we can for him. He has been on the trading block for several months now. It proves a lot of our problems in the last 10 years are players who have not performed up to expectations, especially many of our higher round draft picks.
This makes it more clear for the Bills to hire a competent GM after this season ala Brian’s post last week.

I could never understand the pick. There were other, more pressing needs at the time and he was Buffalo’s top selection that year. I guess that Mike “Mr. Gadget” Mularkey loved the pick.

I wanted line help, like always, with that pick. Looking back at that draft there really wasn’t much that was all that good for any position. I guess they could have grabbed Justin Tuck who went about 25 picks later, but he and Frank Gore are the only players picked after Roscoe in the second or third round that year worth much. I still didn’t like the pick.

I felt the same way at the time. The line desperately needed shoring up, yet Donahoe wasted that second-rounder (the Bills’ highest pick that year) on a gadget WR who many draft analysts had going as a UFA. Getting some value for him in a trade would be nice, but otherwise the best thing to do would be to cut him and put behind us this huge mistake from the past. He is clearly playing with a bad attitude this year and that’s the last thing you want on your team.

Really?
NFL Draft Scout had him projected in the second round.
Here he is in the second round two spots after Buffalo picks in a mock draft.

Yes!!! When in doubt, shore-up your lines. You never know when you’ll trade away your best lineman and cut the others with the most experience…all in the same year. When the remaining guys start going down at least you’ll have a back-up plan…instead of scouring the waiver wire for a starting lineman.

i think thats too much
Johnson has been on the block longer than Parrish, if we are on the verge of trying to get nothing they are too. Not only that Todd Haley has demoted his receivers coach because he is not happy with his receivers after Bowe. In fact, he hates his WR corp. They would welcome Parrish as at least a gimmick and speedy option.

No they wouldn’t. A terrible WR is not going to come into a situation like that and make the head coach happy. They aren’t wasting a draft pick on Parrish, and aren’t wasting a more valuable player like Johnson, who they can get a pick for, in order to get Parrish.

He still has value as a return man, but if you can get Derrick Johnson for him that would certainly be a plus.
I cursed Parrish’s name after the muffed punt, but at least he was trying to make something happen. The thought of the Bills putrid offense pinned down inside the 5 again was worth the risk. Although he should of pounced on the ball instead of tentatively attempting to pick it up. I’m sorry to see that this was perhaps his last play in Buffalo. Rather Harmonesque way to end your Buffalo career.

What is breaking news – is that some guy named Draft got a sack yesterday. holy crap – I totally forgot we even signed that guy. hahaha

I’d guess a 5th rounder and a 4-5 year, 20-25 mil contract with a solid signing bonus and 10+ guaranteed like Michael Boley got last year. Maybe a little less, but still a pretty decent sized contract.

I’ll be surprised if the Chiefs get more than a fourth from a contender or a fifth from anybody else.

I don't see how cutting him makes ST more secure.
Yet again, there was a turnover on a punt return yesterday. I think the problems are MUCH greater than one guy. I can see him going to another team and finding great success. It just stinks of probability right now.

Maybe this is stemming from Roscoe thinking he should see more snaps on offense. Well, I think Evans and Owens should see more snaps go their way. It seems the team has too many options and not enough ideas how to utilize even one of them accurately.

In what way, shape or form has he been great? He’s currently averaging 6.1 yards a return which isn’t even half his career average. Almost half of his 73 yards came on a 31 yard return. Anytime a player suddenly doesn’t dress the day of the game, it usually means he’s already been traded and it just hasn’t been announced. Another swell job by this staff of judging and utilizing talent. They were giving Parrish a ton of snaps all summer and earlier this year. Now he’s on the verge of being dumped for nothing. What a waste of time they could have given to Steve Johnson, who I guess they don’t see much in.

Could it be that RP was inactive cuz he is going to be traded to NYJ? Did he even make the trip down to New Jersey? If so, did he come back with the team to New York? My guess is we trade him to the Jets. Not sure for we’d get in return for this “stud,” but I think he could fit in pretty well as a slot receiver there. Cotchery, Edwards, with Parrish in the slot. Maybe he will be Desean Jackson like somewhere…maybe Hardy has mad skills that we haven’t seen yet, maybe Evans is a top 10 guy. We won’t know until we start getting them the damn ball.
