Simple keys to victory after win number 2
From youth football all the way through the NFL, there are simple keys to securing a win:
1. Blocking and Tackling: the most fundamental positions on a football team are up front. If your Offensive and Defensive line play poorly, you are destined to lose. This is a major contributing factor to both the poor performance of the Bills offense and to the recent success of the defense. The Bills played excellent pass defense, but stopping the run must become a priority if future success is to be attained. We can all wine about the injuries or we can find a way to adapt and overcome.
2. Winning Attitude and Heart: With Dick Jauron at the helm, void of either enthusiasm or disgust when things happen on the field, what kind of emotion and heart does this team have? This is the reason why the defense is much more successful when Posluszny and Whitner are on the field. Not only do they make plays, but they pump up the team and then back it up with plays.
3. Quarterback Play: Trent Edwards lacks leadership ability and is scared to throw the ball downfield since last years injury. The best post game comment came from Ryan Fitzpatrick when he simply stated that it was ugly but it was a win. Other QBs that were not stellar like Trent Dilfer and Jim McMahon have Superbowl rings because they weren't pretty, but they won football games. Ryan Fitzpatrick should start the rest of the season. Either dump Edwards or keep him as a backup, but he doesn't have what it takes to lead this offense. Fitzpatrick is probably not the franchise guy for the future, but right now he gives us a better chance to win because he will at least try to get the ball to playmakers like Lee Evans and TO.
4. Special Teams and the Fumble: Even in peewee football they teach that if the ball is on the ground and it is live then jump on it and smother it under your body. It may not be as flashy and popular as picking it up and running back 90 yards for a touchdown, but you retain possession of the football. I don't know what the coaches are teaching, but it is not fundamental football that leads to success.
5. Reasons we Won: Very simple. Fitzpatrick got the ball to Lee Evans and he made plays. Posluszny led the defense and the young secondary feasted on Sanchez, who kept forcing the ball to Braylon Edwards. Wonder why Edwards isn't in Cleveland anymore? Now you know why. We found a QB that wasn't scared to throw to receivers downfield. Less penalties was a big factor as well, we did not have as many false starts by our young offensive line.

Fitz
He threw the ball downfield? What he wasn’t afraid to do was throw into single coverage. Trent left the game 5 for 5 with 43 yards passings. That’s 8.6 yards per pass. Just because we got an ugly win should Fitz start the rest of the season. Huddling and the use of a full back again was the key here. Edwards will be much better that he was the first 5 games due to the coaching staff finally waking up.
Keepin' the faith!

huddle
haven’t read many comments on bringing back the huddle, but maybe huddle=fewer penalties, players on the same page and therefore able to execute?

Fitz threw a perfect pass to Evans on the outside to beat one-on-one coverage and a blitz
only that the TV overruled the catch cause of the slight ball adjustment. Edwards lost all touch on his deep balls and air mails our receivers. He did it to TO a bunch. Fitz could improve a lot too. The ball to Evans in the end zone was not too good. He shorted Owens on one up the sidelines. I think we are in serious trouble at QB the rest of the season.

Fitz threw some airmails (and toe-mails) too.

People keep forgetting
About those awful passes to TO that were called back by penalties, otherwise Trent isn’t 5 for 5.
The Huddle being back is a great part of the Bills working together better yesterday and playing more mistake free football.
Bills fan? In Colorado? It's more likely than you think.

I want to agree with #3, but will wait til Fitz plays against CAR.
They are hard to play but not hard to beat.
