I don’t think Maybin’s weight is his problem it’s his lack of polish and pass rush moves. He has one move – speed. While it’s very good it’s not enough.

Thats why i’m saying he needs to put on weight. He needs to be able to bull-rush the tackle or play hat-on-hat. When you’re gangly and weight 250 pounds, its no problem for a 300+ pound tackle to just toss you around whenever he wants. Most of the low weight speed rush d-ends in this league are linebacker hybrids, which maybin is not, or glean most of their success from the versatility of other players (i.e. jason taylor and joey porter).

maybin has the advantage of neither.

I know that’s why you said it but I disagree with it. He needs to develop a spin move, a swim move, a way to get those 300 pounders moving one way so he can use his speed to cut back another way. Bull rush isn’t the way for him to go. He needs to use that speed and quickness.

hard to add strength without adding a little weight – his body fat is already about as low as it can go.

also, i do mean weight. even with no extra strength, a little extra weight can go along way when you’re trying to push your way through another guy.

Don’t say that. The vast majroity of his posts, along with Darryl Talley, are about this goat that hangs out near Thurman’s house. It’s really friggin annoying but I can’t unfollow him.
