A look at the Panthers
Since I live in Raleigh and read about the Carolina Panthers on a regular basis, a few thing's that Bills fans should be aware of heading into this weekends game.
(1.) Jake Delhomme is absolutely terrible and their has been a lot of heat on him. He got benched in last weeks game and only though for 77 yards. Steve Smith, who is an excellent receiver, is getting very frustrated by the fact that he doesn't get the ball enough.
(2.) With the problems the Bills have stopping the run, they face a huge challenge trying to stop both DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. Panthers have a pretty stellar offensive line with two great tackles in Pro Bowler Jordan Gross and rising star, Jeff Otah.
(3.) Julius Peppers was off to a slow start, but has 5 sacks in his last 3 games. This does not bode well for Demetrius Bell and I am certain that their will be at least 1-2 illegal procedure penalties against Bell this weekend.
(4.) Panthers acquired Tank Tyler from the Chiefs and have had problems at the DT position, especially since Kris Jenkins went to the Jets.
(5.) John Kasay could be a difference maker, since he still has a strong leg at the age of 42.
** Panthers have won two in a row, but Bills should stack the line and make Delhomme beat him!
*** Peppers will probably wreak havoc against this offensive line.
Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.

Hard to figure out Jake Delhomme
I guess we have similiar problems here. That position could make a big difference for them. Our O-Line isn’t as established as thiers so we can expect some false starts and inconsistent protection from time to time. Delhomme, not that long ago was a dependable start each week.
Thanks for the overview of the Panthers. We can’t forget that each week J.Stewart is fining his stride as well. Still dealing with an injury but he has been able to spell Williams as needed.
I would like to see us jump out to an early lead as we did with Tampa and putting the ball in Delhomme’s hands, but hell they could be the ones jumping out to an early lead putting the ball in Fitzy’s hands.
Should be a good game, a good road game for us. Fewest mistakes, penalties etc.. wins.
Excuses are a sign of weakness!!!!!!
Umm....
Delhomme wasn’t benched last week. He was only benched in the Philly game. That’s not to say he’s played well or anything. The only game he’s played well in was the Atlanta game week 2.
The OL has had some issues blocking in the passing game, especially trying to pick up blitzes. This has made Delhomme’s normal mediocrity into an all out disaster. The Tampa game is actually the first time they’ve had good push in the running game.
The problems at DT because of the injury to Kemo in training camp. Pretty much everything else you said was correct.
-I live in the Charlotte area, and I will be at the game this weekend.
Stop the run
and we might have a chance to win the game… If we let these two horses run wild like t.jones and l.wash fox will not stop running ball… if that tack eating slob in new york would have kept the ball on the ground the jets probably would have won that game… Go Bills…
You guys have been stacking the box all year
And guys are still running through it. DeAngelo and Stewart are equally good, so there is not drop off when one goes out and the other comes in… And because of this they never wear down. I look fot them to have a huge game.

The only way that Buffalo will be able to stop the run is if both Williams and Stewart get injured early in the game, I wouldn’t be surprised if both teams only threw the ball 15-20 times and both have over 200 yards rushing.

Peppers
Has been on and off mostly on though. In at the game against Dallas game he looked terrible, constantly being out of position and being burned to a crisp by the running game.
Anyway In the Jets game, part of why Fitzpatrick wasn’t on his butt all day is the Bills ran extremely protective formations which usually hinder offensive production as a consequence.
This week I think they should be concerned with Peppers in 2nd and long and 3rd down situations and should try to have either a TE on whatever side he lines up on (he lines up on both unfortunately). Peppers People are worried about Bell, but he could come after Meredith as well. That said, the Bills can’t let one player totally disrupt their offense. I understood why they went max protect against the Jets because new QB; crazy blitzes etc. But I think if they are smart they will line up more WRs and we will hopefully see a more lively offense.
As for Peppers I’ve heard alot of Carolina fans not too happy with him. Quite a few said that he is very lazy, has little motivation and takes alot of plays off. They were angry at how he played in the Dallas game and having seen a little bit of that myself I can see why. Peppers with the motivation and mindset of Jared Allen might even be better than him, but as it stands now he’s very unpredictable.

Peppers racks up all his production against bad teams
And often disappears against good teams. This is what fans get upset about. However another reason he is playing better is because the whole d-line has improved. They are getting much better play from their DTs, more push up the middle, and as a result the other DEs have been causing havoc as well.

- Delhomme is definitely on the hot seat and their has been rumors about letting go of Fox and hiring Bill Cowher. Since Cowher live’s in Raleigh and wants to be close to family, this would be the ideal situation for him. And he also attended NC-State, despite being a Pittsburgh native, he calls NC home….traitor!
Ive known that Delhomme has been in the hot seat since practically the season started but I have yet to hear any rumors about Fox being replaced, but then again I guess I really haven’t been paying to much attention to the Panthers news since Ive been down here.
