Is a win a win?

The Bills could easily be 5-2 right now, but for 2 unfortunate kick returns. Would that feel good?

I felt elated but uneasy last year when I walked out of the stadium after the San Diego game. They played well. The fans were pumped. The win seemed convincing, but they had barely beaten some marginal teams in previous weeks. I still allowed myself to have some hope that it was coming together. That didn't work out.

This year I'm not getting any sense that the Bills are on the road to coming together. The wins seem hollow and the losses sickening. I'd feel a lot better about a loss if it was like what happened to the Vikings in Pittsburgh today, and a whole lot better if the win were like the Steelers'.

The Bills aren't very good and the injuries are crippling. I always want them to win, but I've gotten to the point that it just doesn't feel particularly good when they do, and there's this (probably) realistic feeling that they're being hurt in the draft next year when they run into a team that is more determined to lose than they are.

Hope will undoubtedly spring back when the season is over. The youthful core of promising players, free agency and the draft will be there to plug a few holes and, hey!, Who knows?

how is this team only 1 game out of the playoffs

I would like to see this team win a game. The games they play well, they blow. The games they win, the other team blows. A win is a win…. but I would like to see the Bills earn a Win. (I do remember the TB win, but who hasn’t beat them this year)

I still find it hard to believe that there is hope of the playoffs!

What can you do

Sure they are hurting there draft position by winning, but they are doing what a 7-9 team does…..beat the bottom feeders. My biggest fear is that they finish 8-8 and it is enough to save Jauron. Outside of that, I am not to worried about the Ws and Ls anymore this season.

We still have the Phins Texans Colts Pats and Texans left on our schedule, I wouldn’t worry about 8-8, in fact as much as i would like them to have a 8-8 or 9-7 record i don’t see them winning anymore than 6.

No

The Colts won’t play their starters (although wonder whether we can be their second string).

And we can beat the Titans. Add the Jags and the Chiefs and we’re at 7.

Unless our run D improves dramatically

I don’t see us beating the Phins. The Jets are a real possibility though.

Yes....but it still counts as a home game :-(

Jets is only a home game if you are considering Toronto home, which soon the Bills may.

They are hard to play but not hard to beat.

or the Jets game in Toronto

I don’t call that home

I have nothing left to say, these Bills have sucked me dry of any hope. Loosing to a team that completes 2-17 for 23y with 1 INT, that is beyond pitiful!

It scares the crap out of me too!!!!!

Anyways, with Bradford’s injury he might not go top 10 anymore. I also really like Clausen, he is accurate and has a very good arm. I guess what I’m saying is one of these two should be available to us regardless if we win a few more.

Bradford

Why would we want another injury-prone quarterback, no matter how good he is????

by LABillsFan on Oct 26, 2009 11:24 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I know that scares me too. But this year there are a lot of bad teams, not just us. Our chances at Clausen are slim especially if we finish 6-10 or 5-11, teams like the Rams, Raiders, Titans, Browns, Panthers might all be in the market for a QB come draft time.

I love winning like the next guy but when they are ugly wins like the last two, I can’t help but wonder if it’s not detrimental longer term.

I couldn't agree more

I think if this team gets to 7 wins Jaroun will be back, the top qb’s in the draft will be gone, and Trent Edwards will be back next season as the starter.

The one intersting thing is that Sam Bradford has declared he is having surgery and will enter the draft. Who know’s how far he will fall after being a possible first overall pick in this year’s draft had he entered.

Maybe he is available at 10 to a team that finished 7-9.

Win like Pittsburg??
I’d feel a lot better about a loss if it was like what happened to the Vikings in Pittsburgh today, and a whole lot better if the win were like the Steelers’.

How would winning because of a fumble returned 80+ yards and an INTreturned 80+ yards make you feel any better? Or losing that way, for that matter. That’s how Buffalo lost monday night against the patriots, a fumble that gifted the game to NE. Yesterday, Minnasota was beating Pittsburg pretty handly, but lost because of two freak plays.

Yesterday, Buffalo’s D played their butts off, helping them win. I’d rather have an entire Unit (defense) win the game for you than 2 freak turnovers.

How so? That would have been a victory for the Vikings if they had just handed the ball to Peterson a few more times, instead of going all Andy Reid on the gameplan. If you have Favre throw that many times, he’s going to make a mistake. Just like Delhomme (not quite as bad). The momentum had shifted to the Vikings until Favre fumbled. There was plenty of time left for the Vikes and they went pass, pass, pass, pass. Inexcusable if you have the league-best RB available. That loss shows Vikings fans just what’s in store for the rest of the season. It’s not a pretty picture. That game was theirs for the taking and Pittsburgh was glad to take the gift they were given.

What I was trying to imply...

…was that if you’re rooting for a good team and they lose to another good team, it’s not nearly as dismaying as rooting for a bad team that losing. And, of course, it’s much more satifying if your team is good and they beat another good team.

I'm torn

Never want them to lose, but don’t want them to win just enough games to keep Jauron around. So, I don’t know what I want. Guess I’ll just keep rooting for them and see what happens.

I would love to get a great QB in the draft, but we have so many needs, we need to pick best player available in round 1 and plug him in. I am a Tebow fan, and would be OK taking a flyer on him in round 3 or 4. Flutie taught us that you can be a winner without being prototypical. We have had bad karma ever since benching Flutie for Robosack.
