Oh happy day!!

I'm happy to announce that this site is a open forum for all to announce their opinions.  The Bills showed some tackling skills yesterday, mostly on special teams but it is a start.  Apparently someone told them to wrap it up and they wasn't talking about after the game this time.

The Red Zone is on the map once again for Buffalo and this is a good thing because when you get into the red zone you have a chance to score touchdowns.  This is helpful when playing teams like Cleveland and they only score 6 pts.  A touchdown would tie that and with the super sweet extra point (usually easy, but not always guaranteed as we saw yesterday in the Saints game) would make it 7.  Yesterday the commentator said that Buffalo has only been in this super awesome Red Zone twice all year.  It being week 7 makes this a bit hard to take.  I suggest taking it with a shot of Jameson while looking at internet porn which is what I do 90% of my day when I'm not enlightening all of you with my expertise in professional football.

Apparently I'm a bit "bitchy" and although I feel this is an unfair analysis I have an open heart to all opinions just like this website.  The first seven games of this season have been awful to watch and accepting "loosing philosophies" as a Bills fan is awful.  If you guys pull out a few more wins (enough to keep your current coach) how is that winning anything?  He sucks.  I remember a Bills team that went to the super bowl a few times in a row, although never coming away with a win, a very impressive accomplishment.   Now beating the Carolina Panthers at NC is a great thing??

It might be hard to believe but I'm not a football expert, but I am a loyal fan of football in general.  I love the game and watching hard played leave nothing on the field football is something I think we can all appreciate.  I haven't seen this in one game played by the Bills all season.  The closest one was the opener with the Patriots and that was a real soul taker.  Reference to an earlier post.  All I'm saying is even with the win yesterday where is special love magic sugar powder in Buffalo??

I've posted this simply to see if I'm the only one that feels this teams has good players, opportunities all day, but for some reason fails to take advantage of any of it.  So please instead of telling me I have issues, or I'm a prick, or bashing on my hometown team (Packers), help enlighten me as to why in the hell does team play like they want to loose and disappoint every week.  Its been 7 weeks and I've yet to see a game that would make any fan proud to have watched.

Dippity Dippity Dipppppiiiitttyyy  DOOOOOO!!! (inside joke)

You're crazy

But you’re not totally incorrect. They do have good players. Attitude reflects leadership

Look man, if you’re desiring to have us not rail on you, take a less adversarial tone. You’re coming here as an outsider and telling us our team sucks and that the culture is hopeless. Well, we know that problems abound everywhere here, but you’re not doing yourself any favors by not listing any positives. You can troll if you want, but don’t expect anyone to congratulate you for it.

In response to your points:
1) Red zone struggles – The issue is not getting TDs from inside the opponent’s 20 so much as getting to the opponent’s 20. The Bills have not had much success finding offensive minds that create a great gameplan. Jauron is a defensive minded coach and failing to find a successful OC is a problem that can be laid directly at his feet. Of the 3 playcallers (Fairchild, Schonert, and the Van Pelt/Studesville/Jauron committee) they’ve trotted out during Jauron’s tenure, none have managed consistent success. With the QB and OL fluctuations, no player has been able to maintain consistent performance either. The on-field results have been obvious. That is one reason several of us last year argued for continuity going into last off-season. Obviously, that didn’t happen and we’re still reaping the rewards of that now.

2) “Loosing philosophies” – While I appreciate your recognition of the 4 Super Bowl appearances, the circumstances that led to that stretch come around very rarely, especially for a small market team such as ours. It’s not as if the organization doesn’t want to win. We’ve seen enough Front Office personnel crash and burn here that did decently well in other places to know that we have a unique situation. Wilson is an old school owner that was used to being more involved in the process. The NFL is different now. That said, I see it as more a matter of finding the right people to fit your organization. The right compromise can pay fantastic dividends.

3) Lack of heart – I understand your point, but I don’t think it can be generalized to the whole team. I would actually say that their “ugly” wins of the last 2 weeks have been quite gutsy. To an extent, the players are a victim of past history. I know I am. The NE and CLE games, I was waiting for something awful to happen. Something awful happened the last 2 years when we played those opponents. I’m sure that was in the backs of some of those players’ minds. After that, some players mail it in and collect the paycheck. Others are willing to get their neck broken for an extra 6 inches to try and change the tide. That’s a minor failing of the coaching staff but it’s a major failing of those individual players. The only thing I can say about it is that, in most cases, it’s fleeting and with some lucky breaks, more players start to believe and are willing to gut it out.

Jauron needs a lot more than a “few wins” to keep his job. Considering the way the team has played, I think Jauron needs at least one marquee victory (ie: a convincing win over New England). He needs to prove to Wilson and whatever fans havn’t completely given up on him that he is capable of coaching teams to something other than squeeking out wins against bad teams. The Bills need a strong finish and going 8-8 by beating teams the way they’ve beaten NY and Carolina isn’t going to cut it.

The Red Zone is on the map once again for Buffalo and this is a good thing because when you get into the red zone you have a chance to score touchdowns.

While it is true that Buffalo was in the red zone a bunch of times, they only drove into the red zone once. The bomb to Evans was the only time this offense was capable of moving the ball from their own territory inside the opponents 20 yard line. Buffalo had drive starts at the Carolina 27 and 7 yard lines after forcing turnovers and they had another drive start at the Carolina 20 after the muffed punt.

The Bills offense actually only managed to gain 13.6 yards per drive (not counting the 7 yard TD drive or Fitz taking a knee late in the game). It’s pretty easy to give the appearance of having an offense when your drive starts are your own 4, 15, 16, 22, 33, 33, 34, 36, 38, 44 and the Carolina 27, 20 and 7. That’s about as good as you can ask for. In the Cleveland game, the Bills averaged an almost equally poor 18.5 yards per drive, which isn’t going to get things done when your drives start at your own 1, 1, 4, 11, 13, 17, 20, 26, 27, 40, 50. The Bills only had a couple opportunities to take advantage of a short field against Cleveland and they failed at that.

Now beating the Carolina Panthers at NC is a great thing??

Who’s saying that? The Bills won, we’re Bills fans and that makes us happy, but I don’t think very many people are overreacting to the win.

All I’m saying is even with the win yesterday where is special love magic sugar powder in Buffalo??

I have no idea what that means.

I don’t think effort is a problem for this team. At all. I disagree that it’s a talented team. I think it’s a team with average or slightly below average talent that coupled with inconsistent and often very poor QB play has led to slightly below average records. We don’t have an Aaron Rodgers to take advantage of the talent we do have on offense and I think this defense is a solid one that might actually be overachieving so far this season.

Two words for you.... Jamon Meredith

It was our pleasure to take your 6th round draft pick right out from underneath you! He looks good after starting two games in his rookie season.

They are hard to play but not hard to beat.

LOL – Meredith looked terrible yesterday. I can remember three separate occasions where Julius Peppers literally lifted him off the ground with a bull rush.

Well...

A) It’s Peppers
B) He’s a rookie
C) He looked good in comparison to other options…
D) He wasn’t charged with manslaughter on his QB after the game. ;-)

I said he looked good, not that he was going to the Pro Bowl.

Well, I suppose if your criteria for looking good is not being god-awful, then yeah, he looked good.

I don’t hate the Bills. Far from it. Simply made some comments because I’ve actually cheered for them the last 7 games and wanted to express my opinions. Thanks for the 2 words, they really hurt. You’ve already stuck a fork in the Bill.

It's pretty evident CA is not a Bills troll

Green Bay and Buffalo, if not by roster, are very similar football towns (I’m from Wisc AND Buffalo). I like the guy taking the time to write interesting posts on a 2nd favorite team.

At this point in the season I’m ready to consider that.

Bills fan? In Colorado? It's more likely than you think.

It's lose not loose....

We know Jauron sucks, not a news flash. The 4 superbowl games were due to great front office, great coaching leadership by Marv and great players. If any team gets that combo they will not have a loosing, I mean losing, mentality.

I think we have a solid group of players to begin with, but not a great roster. We need to find that great coach and front office. Easier said than done, but not impossible.

Yeah, lose is the opposite of win, loose is the opposite of tight. Completely different words.
