What do you think about Patrick Ramsey?
I just heard that the Bills just worked out Patrick Ramsey. What do you guys think about him? I know he has a cannon for a arm and was pretty accurate when he got a chance to play, I would mind throwing him in the mix and seeing if his better then what we have here. At this point competition can only help or are we still worried about have a vet. Come into Buffalo and hurting Trents fragile feelings? Let me know what you guys think.

Here’s how you do it:
Go to pft.com and click on a little tab by the story that reads Permalink.
The permalink takes you to just that one story instead of the page with all of the stories.
Copy the junk in the address bar.
Type some text in your story hear at Rumblings.
Highlight that text and click the little chain looking icon just above where you type the story.
When the window shows up paste in the junk you copied from the address bar at PFT.
You’ll get some jibberish on each side of what you highlighted and it shows up blue in your text.

I have no problem giving Trent some competition. I think however that I would be more serious competition then Ramsey. Ramsey isn’t a very good QB, I would rather see Hamdan get a shot over Ramsey at this point.

Isn't he...
a very similar QB to Trent with a better arm, who was constantly getting killed because he had a terrible O-line in front of him in Washington. If I remember correctly didn’t one of those sieve like O-linemen come to Buffalo and routinely get Trent and JP killed before we shipped him back to the ‘Skins…but I digress. Ramsey seems like he has more upside to him than Fitz or Trent, and with a competent O-line in front of him could be successful throwing to the like of Evans and Owens (if he ever decides to catch, yet again I digress). Doesn’t seem as mobile as Fitz. All in all, a little competition goes a long way…

I’ll give the Bills credit for at least looking at the available options at QB. I’m dying to know why Buffalo didn’t choose to do the same for right tackle when Butler went down. If I remember right, Levi Jones and Jon Runyan were holding down couches somewhere when Butler had his annual injury.

Runyan still is. And Levi Jones signed all of 7 days ago with Washington. The only team in the NFL more desperate for offensive linemen than us.

Well they did sign and are starting one Mike Williams. Mabye it would be in Buffalo’s interest to bring in Runyan for a look-see. I’m guessing that Trent Edwards might be willing to drive to Philly and pick him up.

Heh. It’ll give him something to do this Sunday. Or next. No rush.
I’m sure Runyan would be motivated to play better than Peters who, in a roundabout way, replaced him. That would be ironic. The point is fair. How much do we really have to loose by keeping our options open?

Maybe Runyan is just kicking the tires. He probably only wants to come back if the teams going to the playoffs, otherwise wait for next year or retire after the season. Buffalo could very well have given him an offer and he declined it.

I wouldn’t mind trying him out but his turnovers were such a huge problem when was giving chances, I think in the 4 seasons he was in Washington he had like 23-25 fumbles and about 30 interceptions in only 24 games started.

Yeah, OBD is saying they have very little faith in the most prominent Arab-American in the league.

ODB
while they have their faults, they have shown this year and in the their pre-season offseason moves, that they know when something is broke it needs to be fixed (OL, OC, no-huddle, etc). I give them credit for that. It takes balls to admit you are wrong. God, I hope this team wins 10 games, DJ stays, and all you haters have to deal with another year of Jauron!!!! I’ll laugh all off-season long!

I think Trent’s days in Buffalo are numbered…along with Jauron’s. Trent was Jauron’s draft pick and neither one of them are panning out so far.
Trent has been injury prone since his days at Stanford and it’s staying true here in Buffalo. I think if a new coaching staff comes in this off season we may be looking at a new QB situation as well.
I don’t know which side of that I’m on because I really like Edwards…I’m just sick of him sucking!

I alwaysliked Ramsey
He has a big arm and was always known as accurate. He has palyed behind a couple of terrible offensive lines, and I think too much was expected of him too quick. He took a beating and kept coming back. check out his career stats. Really only given a chance when he was young for a bad team. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=3560
Here is what Scouts Inc. says about him. Rmminds me a little of Rich Gannon. I think in the right system he could be a good starter:
Comment: Ramsey played in just one game completing two of three passes before being placed on IR with an injured elbow. He has played in a total of eight games and thrown a total of 76 passes over the past four years. While he has generally been considered a bust as a first-round draft pick, he does have some value as a backup. He has a strong arm and is an above-average athlete for the position. He can be accurate and can make all the necessary throws when given the time to set his feet and transfer his weight. He knows how to read coverages and understands the passing tree, but tends to overestimate his ability to get the ball through small windows and ends up with too many interceptions.

This is crazy
Ramsey is terrible….he is turnover prone, not very accurate and the only thing he would offer is a an upgrade talent wise over Fitz.
I still think Edwards gives us the best chance to win…Im just unsure what his problem with throwing to receivers is.

I like Ramsey
Joe Gibbs for whatever reason decided that an aging Mark Brunnell was the answer for the Redskins without really giving Ramsey a chance. I like Trent but I think Ramsey would be good too. BTW Shanahan liked Ramsey and scooped him up when he was available.
The bottomline is that QBs need decent O-lines. Heck Mary Rypien one a Superbowl. Even Rob Johnson would have looked good behind a good O-line.
I suspect that there’s more to Edwards’ head injury that they are letting on. I guess this is why players sit out to get that guaranteed money.

went to a couple pro bowls. He is a solid QB but nothing special. With the O-line and running game and defense the Redskins had, he could put up some nasty numbers.

Why only try-out a QB?
Why not look into the OT positions as well? DT’s? Lets not forget, we’re still waiting to hear about Kyle Williams’ situation. Do we really want McCargo being the number 3 DT rotation on this D?
On a side: I had great hopes that w/ a new DL coach (Sanders), 97 would get his s*it together, and he was my “dark-hosre” going into the off-season during training camp as our “comeback player”. I appologize now for even having that thought!
Spencer Johnson is gonna have his work cut out for him in the rotations now for sure if Kyle is out for an extended amount of time, or worse
Everyone complained about all of the DB’s being taken in the drafts. Well, how’s that working out now? We probably have one of the best secondaries “depth-wise” in the league, (until we let them walk away). If we could only apply that to the other two facets of the game, we’d be in good shape, but . . . . .

Why have 4 qbs on the roster?
This scares me, for Trent’s sake. Is there a concern that he may no longer be physically fit to play?
And is Hamdan not considered even a decent backup’s backup? Is he a long-term project who, it is hoped, could someday become a starter? If not, why have him?
by Sixteenthback on Oct 28, 2009 5:15 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
So, who is a good, available QB out there that hasn't had a feud with TO?
Anyone have a bead on someone better than Ramsey? Joey Harrington comes to mind, but only because he’s a local guy. Nothing really exciting out there that could be any better than what we’ve got in my opinion.

Which is why we draft a QB in round 1 (LT?) or 2,
let Edwards and/or Fitz get their heads bashed in while our O-line gains experience, then let Edwards and Fitz fight it out for the backup spot when said QB/Oline is ready.
