Inactive Thoughts: Week 4
Last week I was 6 of 7 for the second straight week. Shawn Nelson's bum shoulder kept him out and Steve Johnson replaced him on the active roster. Nelson has been full go this week so he should be back out there on Sunday.
After some more injuries last week Leodis McKelvin joined Brad Butler and Derek Schouman on injured reserve. Several other Bills were injured in the game and have been declared out for this week; Donte Whitner, Bryan Scott, Demetrius Bell, and John McCargo have all been declared out with injuries. Paul Posluszny also remains on the shelf.
With Whitner, Scott, Bell, McCargo, and Posluszny inactive, there are only two spots left. This week's list:
Justin Jenkins
He survived the cut but will he play this weekend? Probably not with Nelson back.
Chris Ellis
He has been inactive for every game and will likely continue on the list with Schobel, Kelsay, Maybin and Denney all playing well.
Instead of asking who will be inactive, maybe we should ask who will be active?
Ellis Lankster
With the injuries in the secondary, Lankster is likely to be active for the first time in his young career.
Jamon Meredith
Meredith will assume Bell's spot on the active roster and, gulp, be this week's swing tackle should anything bad happen to Kirk Chambers or Jonathan Scott.
Johnson was active for the first time this year for last week's game against the Saints. This week he will be active simply because someone has to be active. He will be limited to special teams duties.

Off the list from last week: Shawn Nelson

You don’t think that there’s a possibility that Omon gets benched in favor of Ellis? With Lynch out the first 3 games, Omon still barely saw the field and didn’t play special teams, either. Maybe they will want to give Ellis a few snaps and a few special teams plays? We are really scraping the bottom of the barrel this week with all of the injuries.

I think Omon might be out there to return kicks. Ellis won’t see the field on defense and Omon won’t see it on offense so it comes down to special teams. With Leo out I went with Omon over Ellis. And yes, Omon returned a few kicks when Leo got hurt in the Bucs game.

You are probably right that Chris Ellis will be inactive, but it’s also true that the DT’s are pretty thin with McCargo out and Kyle Williams less than 100%. Rotating them is especially important in the heat of South Florida. Apparently Kelsay and Denney will take some snaps inside, which might convince Perry Fewell to have Ellis available as well. Perhaps Corey McIntyre is the one who sits?
By the way, who says Maybin is playing well? They are giving him time on the field, which is the right thing to do, but so far he appears pretty clueless and ineffective (no surprise for such a young and inexperienced DE).

He is playing how I expected he would. Maybe “well” was a tad strong.

Ellis is DEFINATELY inactive
He has been excused for an undisclosed family emergency.
There's not a wide receiver who is fast enough, that J.P. Losman can't overthrow him on a fly pattern.

The Bills haven’t released anything more than that. It’s not a huge loss on the field but boy I hope everything is OK.
Not for nothing but is that Dolphins guy that lost 12 family members in Samoa gonna play?
